1. Introduction 1.1. Health And Safety Information The CB-01 Cooling Boxes are mainly used to cool x-ray sources. Water cools the x-ray source s anode, which operates at high potential. All water cooling pipe work is electrically isolated. The CB-01 Cooling Boxes may be used to cool other vacuum system components such as turbo molecular pumps, electron beam evaporators, x-ray sources, furnaces etc. The CB-01 cooling box requires a water feed from a recirculation chiller for correct operation. Water flow and pressure are continually monitored. This equipment is a component for use with X-Ray Source. Whilst every effort has been made to eliminate hazards, its safe use is also dependant on the system to which it will be connected. The Cooling Box is available in two option. External water compressor pump on request. Fig.1 Cooling Box with and without external water compressor The owner of the equipment must ensure that all users are aware of the Health and Safety Information contained in this manual. If the equipment is sold or passed to another owner, this manual must be included with the equipment. 3

Warning: This equipment must be installed by qualified personnel. Warning: It is the responsibility of the user to consider the safety requirements of hazardous materials used with this equipment and the consequence of any leakage, however caused. Consider possible reactions with materials of construction. Any equipment returned to PREVAC sp. z o.o. must have the correct Declaration of Contamination securely fastened to the outside of the packaging. Warning: Equipment must be fully earthed to prevent dangerous electrostatic charge build-up. Warning: When using make sure the equipment is connected to the cooling system. X-Ray Source cooling water pressure and flow in the cooling system is proper. Warning: If any leakage have seen immediately switch off the device and disconnect power supply. 4

1.2. General The Cooling Boxes are mainly used to cool X-Ray Sources. Water cools X-ray Source s housing and its anode that works on high potential. All Cooling Box pipes are safely secured from electric shock from water. Main application of the Cooling Box is to measure cooling water flow and pressure. If flow and pressure are suitable the Cooling Box gives signal to Emission Regulator that the water parameters are OK. Without that you cannot switch on emission on regulator and using X-Ray Source is disable. For proper work the Cooling Boxes need refrigerate machine which cools and pump water. They refrigerate the distil water while circulating in a closed cycle by means of a cooler. Cooling Boxes CB01 may be also used to cool other vacuum system components like: turbo molecular pumps, electron beam evaporators, furnaces etc. A - power switch; B - flow meter; C - pressure manometer; Fig.2 Cooling Box - front view 5

2. Installation 2.1. Important Read Before Unpacking Warning: Take care when lifting the unit that the weight and position do not exceed comfortable limits. When installing the device make sure that it is adequately supported at all times. Carefully inspect the Cooling Box for visual signs of damage. The packaging is designed to with stand shock and vibration but some of the fixing screws may become loose, more especially with air freight shipment. All screws should be securely fastened but not excessively tight. Any damage in transit should be reported to the carrier and to PREVAC sp. z o.o., or your local agent, within three days retain the packaging. 7

2.2. Installation Guidelines The Cooling Box XR CB-01 will operate when mounted in horizontal orientation. Mount it in 19 rack (full - width, 3 units height). 1. Connect the Cooling Box to the source of cooled water (refrigerator) using Water IN connection. 2. Connect water inlet of the X-Ray Source housing to the Water OUT connection in Cooling Box. 3. Connect water outlet of the X-Ray Source housing to the inlet in the refrigerator. 4. Connect tubes with cooling water and voltage cable to the X-Ray Source anode. 5. Connect water interlock and HV cables to the Emission Regulator. 6. Optionally connect safety valve on the water inlet tube (if equipped). 7. Connect power supply cable 230V/50 60Hz. X-Ray Source Connection Housing Installation X-Ray Source connection housing installation is describe in details in The X-Ray Source Operating Manual. The X-Ray Source available operating manuals document numbers are: 1003598 - English version; 1003599 - Polish version; 9

3. Operation After correct connecting and switching on the device is ready to work. Note: If water pressure and flow are proper Cooling Box gives interlock signal to the Emission Regulator which allows Regulator to start emission. Warning: If any leakage is seen immediately switch off the device and disconnect power supply. 10

4. Refrigerator If the system has its own closed - circuit refrigerator. The complete manual has been provided by the manufacturer and there is an obligation to follow all of the rules contained in it. The expansion tank is not airtight and it causes a small extent evaporation. A level of water has to be regularly monitored and refilled to the required level when it is necessary. The refrigerator can not be filled with a water from a water supply network and the proper water solution should be prepared by using the following chemical products: The above - mentioned notation stands for the 'ABEX Systemy uzdatniania' products. For cleaning a contaminated structure: A soft water or a demineralized water with the addition 73550 used in a volume of 5 ml per 100 l of water. After cleaning, the shock disinfection has to be done with the usage of: WT040 (oxidizing biocide) in the volume of 50 ml per 100 l of water. The next step includes an rinsing and filling a load: Use demineralized water with the inhibitor 73190 in a volume of 4 ml per 80 l of load and 16 ml of the biocide 77350 used per 80 l of load. It is acceptable to use other producers' additions for water treatment but they must meet the same parameters as products listed above. 11

5. Liability and Warranty The equipment is made of quality materials and built with good craftsmanship. Warranty for the equipment as delivered and initially installed is one year from the final installation acceptance. The customer cannot use the instrument in any part before the acceptance agreement is approved. Any deviation from the full acceptance should be noted carefully on the agreement form and the warranty of accepted components will start at the time of partial acceptance. Conditions of warranty are applicable to the country of first delivery only (country of subsequent and/or final destination is excluded from PREVAC s sp. z o.o. warranty). PREVAC sp. z o.o. will either replace or, at their option, repair such parts of the equipment, which within the warranty time may have defects or imperfections. The warranty does not include: A. Normal wear and tear and the need for regular maintenance. B. Furnishing of supplies, consumables or accessories. C. Items not purchased through PREVAC sp. z o.o. or damages caused by items not purchased through PREVAC sp. z o.o. D. Damages caused by the customer s improper use of the equipment or supplies in conjunction with the equipment. G. Damages caused by the customer s physical, mechanical or electrical alteration of the equipment or transportation after its initial installation. H. Natural disaster, including but not limited to fire, flood, water, earthquake, wind and lightening. I. The customer s contamination of vacuum enclosure parts thereof and vacuum pumps. Upon PREVAC s sp. z o.o. request the dismounting of parts to be replaced or repaired and the remounting of replacement parts or repaired parts may be made by the customer without cost to the PREVAC, sp. z o.o. provided such work is of a reasonable extent and the customer has personnel competent to do such work. For replaced or repaired parts PREVAC sp. z o.o. give oneyear warranty from date of receipt of such parts by the customer. 12

For standard parts, PREVAC sp. z o.o. gives the same warranties as for the basic instrument, the warranty periods to be counted from the date of acceptance of these parts.
