Automation, Inc. INTRODUCTION This Quick Install guide provides only the information necessary to install the Enhancer Transmitter, Probes and related wiring. Refer to the Enhancer Installation Guide IG_EAC1100 /A under separate cover for information on initial Set up and normal operation. For application or installation questions, contact the GreenTrol Applications team Toll Free at 877-4GN-TROL (877.446.8765). 1. ENHANCER UNPACKING Unpack the EAC1100 /A and verify that all components have been supplied as shown in the List of Items Supplied below. Inspect for damage. If damage is noted, immediately notify carrier. 2. AIRFLOW PROBE INSTALLATION Installation Overview and Probe Placement Recommendations: Probes are equipped with universal mounting brackets (Figure 1) that permit installation in a wide variety of field applications. Study Figure 2 for the recommended placement of probes for your application. The objective is to have the airflow probes mounted within the economizer hood on each side (left and right) such that each probe sensor center is positioned at the following location: A minimum distance of 2.5 (63.5 mm) upstream of the OA damper blade edge when at 100% open; and: Universal Mounting Bracket provides complete installation flexibility at a distance of ¼ of the unobstructed probe mounting width (X) from the left and right edges; and: at a distance of ½ of the unobstructed probe mounting height (Y). (continued) Figure 1. Automation, Inc. 2. AIRFLOW PROBE INSTALLATION (continued) CAUTION: Handle probes carefully. The glass bead thermistor sensors within the airflow openings of the probe are fragile and can be damaged by impact. 1. Examine the planned probe installation location on the left and right sides of the economizer hood opening to ensure that there will be no interference with damper blade operation. In addition, confirm that the planned routing of the probe cables will not interfere with damper linkage. 2. Position and mark the left (PRB1) and right (PRB2) bracket locations for each probe to ensure that the sensor center locations will meet the probe Placement Recommendations detailed in Figure 2. 3. Drill suitable pilot holes for the hardware to be used for each bracket. NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 may be reversed to permit probe installation and adjustment. 4. Adjust the position of the probe within the bracket to meet the recommended installation requirements as described in step 2 and Figure 2. Verify that the airflow direction sticker on each probe is in the direction of actual airflow. Tighten the probe to bracket hardware to secure the probes in this position. 5. Secure each probe bracket and probe through each bracket in two places using suitable mounting hardware. 6. Probes are factory marked PRB1 and PRB2 on the probe cables. Note the positions on the economizer panel where they have been mounted to facilitate diagnostics in the event of a problem later on. Their location will not be apparent once the equipment is assembled and placed into operation. 7. Route each sensor probe cable to the planned EAC1100 /A Transmitter site and install transmitter as outlined in the EAC1100 /A Transmitter Installation procedure that follows. CAUTION: If cable routing holes are required, the recommended minimum diameter is 1". When preparing any cable routing holes and when routing cables, prevent damage to the cables from sharp edges of the prepared holes. 4

3. TRANSMITTER INSTALLATION 1. Confirm that the planned mounting location for the Enhancer transmitter (typically on the outside of the air handler unit) will not interfere with any internal air handler unit components directly behind the mounting location. Ensure that the location allows for easy access and installation of the flanged weather tight wiring bulkhead, gaskets and routing of probe cables to transmitter location. 2. Use the supplied Enhancer Enclosure Drill Template (P/N 960-0411) to mark the locations of the six transmitter mounting holes (maximum size: #8 screws) and the 1.5 inch (38.1 mm) wiring access hole. 3. If necessary, drill six mounting holes suitable for the transmitter mounting hardware at the six marked transmitter mounting locations (maximum size: #8 screws). 4. Prepare a 1.5 inch (38.1 mm) wiring access hole at the marked wiring access hole location. 5. Remove the Transmitter cover and gasket as shown in the detail of Figure 3. Then, gently squeeze the two board retainers to release the main board and allow it to hinge open to the left as shown in the detail of Figure 3. (continued) Mark these mounting hole locations 1 4 1. Remove gasket 2. Automation, Inc. 3. TRANSMITTER INSTALLATION (continued) 6. Refer to Figure 4 and insert the wiring bulkhead with gasket through the EAC1100 wiring access port so that the gasket is seated on the enclosure, and the flange is inside of the enclosure as shown. 7. Insert the flanged wiring bulkhead into the hole prepared in step 4 as shown in Figure 4. 8. Insert remaining flexible gasket seal from the inside of the prepared mounting hole, and secure the wiring bulkhead and transmitter using the wiring bulkhead nut. Line up enclosure to the six mounting holes prepared in step 3, and then tighten the wiring bulkhead nut securely to ensure a weathertight seal and prevent loosening. 9. Secure transmitter at six transmitter mounting holes with suitable hardware. 10. Route cables to transmitter and proceed to 24VAC Wiring in the following steps. Figure 4. Transmitter flanged wiring bulkhead installation detail 6

4. 24VAC WIRING 24VAC WIRING PRECAUTIONS: Deactivate 24 VAC power source until all connections are complete. Refer to IG_EAC1100 for additional ESD and wiring precautions. The Enhancer 24 VAC input ground (GND) connection is shared with the Analog I/O signal grounds. If isolated output is required, a dedicated isolation transformer must be provided to power the EAC1100 /A. When other devices are powered by a common 24VAC transformer output, proper phasing of 24V PWR and GND MUST BE OBSERVED. It is recommended that analog input and output interface be connected using separate twisted shielded pairs to eliminate potential voltage drop on the common. 1. Deactivate 24VAC power. 2. Connect 24VAC input power and optional alarm output cables at the ALRM and PWR Terminal Barrier strip as shown in Figure 5. 5. Economizer Control, CO2 Sensor, Damper Actuator and Other Component Wiring Refer to Figure 5 for typical complete Enhancer wiring diagram and detail of external Economizer Control, CO2 Sensor, Damper Actuator and other component wiring. 6. Initial Power Up and Completing the Enhancer Start-Up Wizard 1. Apply power to the Enhancer. The LCD will display a series of dashes followed by the model number and product firmware version. The LCD will then display: START UP WIZARD - Press Enter 2. Press the ENT enter push button key to begin the Start Up Wizard. The Start Up Wizard will guide you through the steps required to properly set up the Enhancer for proper operation in the intended application. The Start Up Wizard must be completed in order to place the Enhancer into normal operation, or to change any of the factory default values. 3. Measure and verify that the Economizer Controller minimum damper actuator voltage when in occupied mode is greater than the factory default Enhancer occupancy trigger set point of 2.2VDC. (If it is NOT greater than 2.2VDC, this value (OCC TRIG= ) can be changed in the Set Up Menu only AFTER completion of the START UP WIZARD). 4. Replace gasket and cover, and secure with the six cover mounting screws (Fig. 3). 5. For additional information on operation and set up of the Enhancer refer to the complete Enhancer Installation Guide IG_EAC1100 /A under separate cover. 7
