AP-550 Installation Manual Installation manual for the universal AP-550 GoldCruise Part A A1 Introduction The GoldCruise is an optimal flexibility product which consists of a universal part and a specific part. The universal part consists of: - ECU - actuator - wiring harness - Installation Manual Part A The specific part consists of: - actuator cable - actuator assembly kit - cable linkage materials - Installation Manual Part B The AP550 GoldCruise is a quality product, which was developed for Gold Automotive with high precision. The actuator pulls the accelerator pedal or throttle valve by means of a steel cable to maintain a set speed. The ECU receives and processes signals from the command module, brake pedal and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). With this information the ECU directs the actuator. This is a so called Closed Loop process. The installer of the GoldCruise has to be familiar with the technique of modern cars and experienced with working on these automobiles. To ensure a problem-free installation, please read this installation manual carefully before getting started. After completing the installation of the GoldCruise always leave the sheet at the back of this manual with command functions behind in the car for the user.

A2 Safety first Symbol explanation: Beware! Following terminal designations are used in vehicle wiring: Beware! This symbol indicates a (possible) hazardous situation The hazardous situation may cause (serious) injuries or death, damage to the car, damage to the product itself or harm the environment. This symbol indicates a strong and important advice to the installer. Neglecting this advice may cause damage to the engine or the GoldCruise-system itself. +30" input of battery plus, direct - 31" recirculation from battery mass, ground +15" switched plus, behind battery - Never change, manipulate or open any part of the GoldCruise. This can effect the functioning of the GoldCruise seriously, and will cause the warranty to become void. - Installation of the GoldCruise by an unqualified person can cause serious injuries and/or damage to the car, the product or the environment. - To avoid damage to the GoldCruise, use a multimeter or a LED-tester if necessary. Beware! - Always disconnect the negative terminal of the battery before working on the electrical equipment of the vehicle. The disconnection of the negative terminal may cause loss of volatile memories of the comfort-electronics. - To secure the connection between two electrical wires, Gold Automotive advices to solder and then insulate the connection. Gold Automotive B.V. does 1) incorrect assembly of the GoldCruise parts not accept any liability for 2) damage to the GoldCruise-system by mechanical damages due to the following: effects and overvoltages 3) use for any purpose, not described in this manual 4) changes, modifications and manipulations of the GoldCruise without the explicit approval of Gold Automotive B.V.

A3 Electronic Control Unit Mount the ECU under the dashboard, away from extreme heat and moisture. Secure the ECU with ty-strings, doublesided tape or screws. Warning! Never mount the ECU in the engine bay, where heatsources, vibrations and moisture exist A4 Command Modules The AP-550 GoldCruise can be supplied with one of these three different Command Modules: CM-25; The ultimate Command Module with OE-like design and the unique 3-Memory Cruise functions. CM-GK; Cruising and changing gear in one. CM-IR; Infrared module, fitted directly on the steering wheel. CM-8; 3-Memory Cruise module Extra module combined with CM- GK or CM-IR for extra comfort in cruising Please refer to the installation manual supplied with the command module for mounting instructions Programming 3-Memory in CM-25 and CM-8: The 3-Memory can be programmed in two simple steps: 1.) drive desired speed 2.) press button 1,2 or 3 until beep is audible

A5 Self Learning Procedure Self Learning Procedure for VSS, sensitivity and Reaction time: VSS = Vehicle Speed Sensor (number of pulses per kilometer) Sensitivity = when during cruising the adjustments of the GoldCruise are too forceful or too slow. Reaction Time = time span between activation (pressing the "Fix"-button) and the actual taking over of the GoldCruise. If this parameter is not correct, the result will be an overshoot or significant drop in vehicle speed. The AP-550 GoldCruise requires a setup for the speed pulse, in this procedure sensitivity and reaction time are also adjusted. This setup will usually result in satisfying settings. Activation of the Self Learning Procedure for VSS, Sensitivity and Reaction time confirmation: steps: (process steps 1-4 within one minute) 1 Turn the vehicle ignition switch OFF and then ON again. 4 beeps 2 Apply the brakes, and (slowly) press Fix/KM+ 4 times. 1 beep 3 Still applying the brakes, press Mem/KM- once. 1 beep 4 Release the brake pedal 5 Drive the car at a speed of approximately 70 km/h and press Fix/KM+. The GoldCruise takes over. 2 beeps 6 Drive for one kilometer and then apply the brakes. 7 Stop the vehicle in a safe spot and turn the ignition off. Make a test drive to check the GoldCruise operation. Attention! FIX/KM+ = SET/ACC = MEM/KM- = RES/DEC = Test drive: a) Drive the car in highest gear at about 90 km/h b) Press Fix/KM+ and let go of the accelerator pedal The GoldCruise should take over now. c) Briefly apply the brakes The GoldCruise should let go now. d) Drive the car at about 75 km/h, now press Mem/KM- and let go of the accelerator pedal The GoldCruise should resume to the previously set speed e) While cruising press Fix/KM+ and hold it, the car should accelerate. Let go when the car has accelerated about 10 km/h f) Still cruising press Mem/KM- and hold it until the car has decelerated about 5 km/h If the result of the "Self Learning Procedure" is not satisfying, the "Sensitivity" and "Reaction time" can be adjusted.

A5 Self Learning Procedure Adjusting Sensitivity and Reaction time Sensitivity: confirmation: steps: (process steps 1-4 within one minute) 1 Turn the vehicle ignition switch OFF and then ON again. 4 beeps 2 Apply the brakes and press Fix/KM+ 4 times. 4 beeps 3 Still applying the brake, press Mem/KM- 4 times. 4 beeps 4 Release the brakes. 5 Drive the car at the speed where sensitivity adjustments are required and press Fix/KM+. The GoldCruise will take over immediately. If the GoldCruise gains or looses speed while cruising, you can make adjustments to the sensitivity settings of the GoldCruise. 1 beep per step 6 By pressing Fix/KM+, the sensitivity will increase by one step. Pressing Mem/KM-, the sensitivity will be decreased by one step. The settings are changed straight away. 2 beeps 7 After changing the sensitivity, apply the brake, the new settings are saved. 8 When the result is satisfying, stop the vehicle in a safe spot and turn the ignition OFF. Make a test drive to check the GoldCruise operation. Reaction time: confirmation: steps: (process steps 1-4 within one minute) 1 Turn the vehicle ignition switch OFF and then ON again. 4 beeps 2 Apply the brakes and press Fix/KM+ 4 times. 3 beeps 3 Still applying the brake, press Mem/KM- 4 times. 3 beeps 4 Release the brakes. 5 Drive the car at a speed of approximately 70 km/h and press Fix/KM+. The GoldCruise takes over. If the Goldcruise takes over too slow or too fast (overshoot) you can make adjustments to the reaction time settings. 1 beep per step 6 By pressing Fix/KM+, the reaction time will increase (more agressive) by one step. Pressing Mem/KM-, the reaction time decrease (less agressive) by one step. The settings are changed straight away. 2 beeps 7 After changing the reaction time, apply the brake, the new settings are saved. 8 When the result is satisfying, stop the vehicle in a safe spot and turn the ignition OFF. Make a test drive to check the GoldCruise operation.
