Land Pride Important Safety Information Important Safety Information These are common practices that may or may not be applicable to the products described in this manual. Safety at All Times Thoroughly read and understand the instructions given in this manual before operation. Refer to the Safety Label section, read all instructions noted on them. Do not allow anyone to operate this equipment who has not fully read and comprehended this manual and who has not been properly trained in the safe operation of the equipment.! Look For The Safety Alert Symbol The SAFETY ALERT SYMBOL indicates there is a potential hazard to personal safety involved and extra safety precaution must be taken. When you see this symbol, be alert and carefully read the message that follows it. In addition to design and configuration of equipment, hazard control and accident prevention are dependent upon the awareness, concern, prudence and proper training of personnel involved in the operation, transport, maintenance and storage of equipment. Operator should be familiar with all functions of the unit. Operate implement from the driver s seat only. Do not leave tractor or implement unattended with engine running. Dismounting from a moving tractor could cause serious injury or death. Do not stand between the tractor and implement during hitching. Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from power-driven parts. Wear snug fitting clothing to avoid entanglement with moving parts. Watch out for wires, trees, etc., when raising implement. Make sure all persons are clear of working area. Turning tractor too tight may cause implement to ride up on wheels. This could result in injury or equipment damage. Be Aware of Signal Words A Signal word designates a degree or level of hazard seriousness. The signal words are:! DANGER Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. This signal word is limited to the most extreme situations, typically for machine components that, for functional purposes, cannot be guarded. For Your Protection Thoroughly read and understand the Safety Label section, read all instructions noted on them.! WARNING Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury, and includes hazards that are exposed when guards are removed. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.! CAUTION Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices. Shutdown and Storage Lower machine to ground, put tractor in park, turn off engine, and remove the key. Detach and store implements in a area where children normally do not play. Secure implement by using blocks and supports. Important Safety Information Land Pride These are common practices that may or may not be applicable to the products described in this manual. Use Safety Lights and Devices Slow moving tractors, selfpropelled equipment, and towed implements can create a hazard when driven on public roads. They are difficult to see, especially at night. Flashing warning lights and turn signals are recommended whenever driving on public roads. Use lights and devices provided with implement. Transport Machinery Safely Comply with state and local laws. Maximum transport speed for implement is 20 mph. DO NOT EXCEED. Never travel at a speed which does not allow adequate control of steering and stopping. Some rough terrains require a slower speed. Sudden breaking can cause a towed load to swerve and upset. Reduce speed if towed load is not equipped with breaks. Use the following maximum speed - tow load weight ratios as a guideline: 20 mph when weight is less than or equal to the weight of tractor. 10 mph when weight is double the weight of tractor. IMPORTANT: Do not tow a load that is more than double the weight of tractor. Use A Safety Chain A safety chain will help control drawn machinery should it separate from the tractor drawbar. Use a chain with the strength rating equal to or greater than the gross weight of the towed machinery. Attach the chain to the tractor drawbar support or other specified anchor location. Allow only enough slack in the chain to permit turning. Do not use safety chain for towing. Practice Safe Maintenance Understand procedure before doing work. Use proper tools and equipment, refer to Operator s Manual for additional information. Work in a clean dry area. Lower the implement to the ground, put tractor in park, turn off engine, and remove key before performing maintenance. Allow implement to cool completely. Do not grease or oil implement while it is in operation. Inspect all parts. Make sure parts are in good condition & installed properly. Remove buildup of grease, oil or debris. Remove all tools and unused parts from before operation. 2 LRP05 & LRP15 Series Landscape Pull Type Rakes 302-223M 07/14/08

Section 2: Operating Instructions Land Pride Section 2: Operating Instructions Operating Instructions By now you should have thoroughly read your Operator s Manual and properly installed your Land Pride Landscape Rake to your tractor. Before you begin raking you should visually survey the work site to make sure it is safe and free of foreign obstacles. Also make certain that all irrigation heads, utility outlets, and other obstacles are properly marked. Please stop and do the above checks and preparations if you have not yet done so before you begin to rake. This is a must for your safety and for the safety of others. Now that you are properly briefed, your landscape rake is properly installed, and you have properly checked out your work site, it is time to begin raking. When transporting or travelling to and from work sites, make sure that the rake is in the fully raised position and not in contact with the ground. Select a safe speed and transport to your work site in such a manner that faster moving vehicles can pass you safely. A slow moving vehicle sign should be employed if you are using a public road or right-of way. Once you have safely arrived at your work site, stop the tractor, lock tractor brakes to prevent rolling, shut off tractor engine, and remove ignition key before dismounting. Adjust rake angle with the rake in the up position. Changing rake angle left or right will distribute extraneous and oversized material in furrows to the left or right. Adjusting rake angle to be straight across distributes material evenly across the width of the rake with slight furrowing produced at both ends of the rake. Set rake height by adjusting the control lever to the rear notch if you are ready to begin work. If not, leave the rake in the up position. Remount tractor to make a gear and engine rpm selection that will produce a safe suitable ground speed for your particular operating conditions. Begin working with the rake set in the lowered position unless you intend to travel a short distance without raking. In this situation, leave the rake up to travel and begin work by pulling on the handle to lower the rake. See Rake Height Adjustment in Section 3 on page 11 for a detailed description on using pull ropes for the LRP05. Additional adjustments may be required to achieve the desired affect you are wanting. Practice will help to consistently achieve that desired result you are after. Always keep safety uppermost in your mind and remember that before dismounting the tractor you must always set the park brake, turn off the tractor and remove the ignition key. If you must park on a hillside you should always chock the tractor wheels for an extra measure of safety. See Product Specifications on page 15 and Features and Benefits on page 16 for additional information on performance enhancing options. 10 LRP05 & LRP15 Series Landscape Pull Type Rakes 302-223M 07/14/08

Land Pride Section 3: Adjustments Section 3: Adjustments LRP05 & LRP15 Rake Angle Refer to Figure 3-1: Five holes are provided for angling the rake position either clockwise or counterclockwise in increments of 7 1/2 degrees for a total of 15 degrees either direction off center. Change rake angle by pulling hair pin (#1) from lock pin (#2), pull lock pin (#2) from pull frame (#3), and rotate rake frame(#4). Reset lock pin and hair pin after rotating rake frame. Raise the rake by first pulling on rope (#6) or by squeezing handle (#9) upward to release pressure induced by the spring loaded latch (#8) resting in the rear notch. Keeping rope (#6) tight, pull on rope (#7) to raise the spring loaded latch and continue pulling on rope (#7) to raise the rake. Lower the rake by pulling on rope (#6) to release pressure induced by the spring loaded latch (#8) resting against the front notch. Keeping rope (#6) tight, pull on rope (#7) to raise the spring loaded latch (#8) and slowly allow the rake to lower by keeping rope (#7) tight as the operator releases the rope slowly till spring loaded latch (#8) returns to the rear notch. Letting go of the rope too fast will cause the spring latch (#8) to catch in the middle notch instead of the rear notch. Use middle notch in the adjusting plate (#5) for making turns and gently dumping the load on the go. LRP15 Turnbuckle Height Control Refer to Figure 1-2 on page 7: Fine tune the LRP15 rake height by adjusting the turn buckle (#9) connecting the Lift Handle Arm (#7) to the rear axle weldment (#6). Rake Angling Series LRP05 Shown Figure 3-1 20998 LRP05 & LRP15 Lever Height Control Refer to Figure 3-1: There are three notches in the height adjusting plate (#5) for lowering and raising the rake. The rear notch sets the rake in its lowest position, the center notch raises the rake halfway up, and the front notch raises the rake all the way up. LRP05 Series are equipped with pull ropes to allow height adjustment from the tractor seat. LRP15 Series are not equipped with pull ropes due to weight of the rake elements. Pull ropes can be added to LRP15 rakes by the user. 07/14/08 LRP05 & LRP15 Series Landscape Pull Type Rakes 302-223M 11
