MOONEY SECTION III EMERGENCY PROCEDURES LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE; CORRECT MALFUNCTION PRIOR TO NEXT FLIGHT. ~~~~~~ ~ CAUTION ~ ~~~~~~ Should engine excessively cool during engine out, care should be exercised during re-start to avoid excessive oil pressure. Allow engine to warm up. OP ER AT ING THE EN GINE AT TOO HIGH AN RPM BE FORE REACH ING MINI MUM OIL TEM PERA TURES MAY CAUSE LOSS OF OIL PRES SURE. POWER LOSS - PRI MARY EN GINE IN DUC TION AIR SYS TEM BLOCK AGE Block age of the pri mary en gine in duc tion air sys tem may be ex pe ri enced as a re sult of fly ing in cloud or heavy snow with cold out side air tem pera tures (0 o C or below). At these tem pera tures, very small wa ter drop lets or solid ice crys tals in the air may enter the pri mary en gine in duc tion in let in cowl open ing and travel in side in let duct to the in duc tion air fil ter. Ice par ti cles or water d rop lets may col - lect and freeze on the air filter caus ing par tial or to tal block age of the pri mary en gine in duc tion sys - tem. If pri mary in duc tion air sys tem block age oc curs, the al ter nate en gine in duc tion air sys tem will auto - mati cally open, sup ply ing en gine with an al ter nate air source drawn from in side the cowl ing rather than through the air fil ter. The al ter nate air sys tem can also be manu ally opened at any time by pull - ing the con trol la beled AL TER NATE AIR. Auto matic or man ual ac ti va tion of the al ter nate in duc tion sys tem is dis played in the cockpit by the il lu mi na tion of the ALT AIR light in the main ann un cia tor panel. When op er at ing on the al ter nate air sys tem, avail able en gine power will be less for a given pro - pel ler RPM com pared to the pri mary in duc tion air sys tem. This is due to loss of ram ef fecta nd in duc - tion of warmer in let air.
