NTC Thermistors Descriptions In many industrial sectors and fields of research, temperature is one of the most important parameters which decides about product quality, security, and reliability. Temperature sensors are manufacturered by variable technologies, according to the field of application. NTC(Negative Temperature Coefficient) Thermistors are manufactured from sintered metal oxides. Each thermistor consists of a combination of two to four of the following materials: Manganese, Nickel, Cobalt and Copper. NTC thermistors are semiconductor resistors that exhibit decreasing resistance characteristics with increasing temperature. Temco thermistors have low thermal time constants which result in extremely high rates of resistance change to accurately track the temperature. Typical Features: - Quick response to temperature change - Small dimensions - High stability over a long life - Resistant against vibration and temperature shocks - Resistant to corrosive atmospheres and harsh environments - simple interchangeability - high reliability Applications: - Temperature measurement control - Automotive systems - Industrial process control RTS-Raw 10K NTC Thermistor Specifications: Rated Resisitance: R25=10.00KΩ±1% B-Value: B25/50=3950Ω±1% OperatingTemperature: -30 ~ +80 C Dimensions (mm): 1: TC39B103F 2: Epoxide Resin, Clear 3: Ø0.5mm Tinned Copper Wire - 1 -

Construction The sensor is a high quality unit manufactured to industrial standards. The probe is made from stainless steel with a welded and ground tip, not a separate welded plug as some other probes in the HVAC industry. The probe is baked and then epoxy sealed to eliminate long term moisture problems. Installation Insert the probe well into the air stream in an area with no stratification or local thermal effects. A supply air sensor is located at any convenient location two or three meters down stream from the nearest fan and coil. A return air sensor can be mounted anywhere in the return duct, one meter or two before the mixing section usually. To install the sensor, drill a 3/4 hole in the duct and insert the probe into the airstream. Secure the electrical box to the duct with two sheet metal screws. The knockouts on the electrical box accept a 1/2 pipe or flex connector. The sensor requires two conductors, normally 18ga unshielded twisted pair. Dimensions (mm) Ordering Information - 5 -

RTS Room Temperature Sensor Descriptions The sensor provides precision room temperature sensing for Energy Management Control Systems. There are several RTD and thermistor models in several ranges for compatibility with all popular DDC systems. Low drift and long term accuracy is assured, field calibration is not generally required. The enclosure design allows for use in areas where appearance is important. The sensors saves I/O space on the DDC controller by connecting to a single input. User button activity is captured in the DDC system application programs as high and low going pulses, providing full software control of the button actions. Features Sensor Property Specification Thermistor Accuracy +/- 0.2 C Platinum RTD Accuracy +/- 0.4 C Thermistor Range -70 C to 150 C Platinum RTD Range -200 C to 300 C Calibration The RTS uses precision thermistors, so calibration is optional. The sensor routes the thermistor signal directly to the DDC controller, and also to an on board 8 bit A/D converter for local display of the temperature. This A/D converter and associated circuitry can be calibrated by adjusting a potentiometer on the sensor. The potentiometer affects only the local display, not the thermistor signal at the DDC controller. Installation The unit is located on an interior wall, away from windows, supply ducts and heat sources. The enclosure can be mounted flush on the wall, or on an electrical box. The backplate has holes for North American and European style electrical boxes. The RTS requires two conductors. The removable terminal block on the back of the RTS can accept wires up to 18 gauge, while the RTS requires butt connectors. Two allen key screws on the bottom of the enclosure backplate are screwed inwards to allow the cover to be removed and outwards to hold the cover in place. - 6 -

Installation For measuring water temperature, the probe is strapped with plastic tie wraps or a metal strap onto the outside of the pipe and covered with insulation. The electrical box is mounted on a strut bar or on the wall near the pipe. Two conductors are required, 18ga unshielded twitted pair is common. - 15 -

Wells Descriptions These thermowells are designed for mounting temperature sensors in pipes and tanks. The thermowells are designed to reduce the stress encounted in flowing fluid installation which produces a constantly oscillating force that can eventually crack a probe unless it is mounted in one of these wells. The wells are designed to handle this stress yet provide good thermal contact with the fluid. They also provide isolation, if the sensor needs to be serviced the system can remain in operation without having to drain down the lines. Features & Options Three Lengths: 2, 4 and 8 (Fit standard Immersion Unit lengths) Stainless Steel (304 or 316) or Brass Two Part (Welded) or Machined Construction Other Lengths or Materials Available Upon Request Limited Lifetime Warranty 2 Part (Welded) Temco well Standard Temco wells available from Temco include 304 stainless steel (machined), 316 stainless steel (machined), brass (machined), and two part (welded) stainless steel. These wells are offered in 2,4 and 8 lengths with 1/2 NPT external and 1/2 NPSM. Other lengths and thread diameters are available upon request.the Thermowell chosen for the installation is governed mainly by the corrosion conditions the well will face. The machined stainless steel wells all come with a mirror polish to provide maximum corrosion resistance. Occasionally, the material consideration is one of strength rather than corrosion. For example, a machined stainless steel well may be required for high pressure water service where otherwise a brass or two part stainless steel well would be satisfactory from a corrosion standpoint. market requirement. Well failures, in most cases, are not due to the effects of pressure or temperature on the well. The calculations necessary to provide adequate strength, under given conditions, are familiar enough to permit proper choice of wall thickness and material. The values shown in Table 1 are conservative, and intended primarily as a guide. Wells are also safe if the resonant frequency is well below the wake frequency or if the fluid velocity is constantly fluctuating through the critical velocity point. Nevertheless, if the installation is not hampered by the use of a sufficiently stiff well. - 16 -
