Contact: Bob Carlson Manager, Automotive and Motorsport Media (770) 290-3676 PORSCHE LAUNCHES NEW CAYENNE, 911 TARGA AND GT3 With so many new models, Porsche turns the calendar to 2008 just to fit it all in DETROIT What is new from Porsche for 2007? Well, for one thing, it is already 2008 as Porsche launches the second-generation Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, all designated as 2008 models. The Porsches of sport utility vehicles have a new look, more powerful engines and are packed with new technologies that enhance everything from on-road comfort and off-road control to enhanced safety and improved fuel efficiency. But as advanced as the Cayennes may be, Porsche has not overlooked the 2007 model year, not with the introduction of two versions of the glass-roofed Porsche 911 Targa as well as the new Porsche 911 GT3, a sports car many consider to be a racecar with a license for the road. The following is an updated review of Porsche s complete lineup of vehicles available in calendar year 2007 -- even if some of them are designated as 2008 models. Porsche Boxster The Boxster is Porsche s mid-engine, two-seat roadster that comes not only with a power Cabriolet top, but deft and nimble handling and exceptional dynamic balance. For the 2007 model year, it also comes with a new 2.7-liter, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with Porsche s VarioCam Plus valve control technology that helps it pump out 245 horsepower. The Boxster accelerates from a standing start to 60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds) and yet achieves city/highway fuel economy ratings 23/32 miles per gallon. Porsche Boxster S At Porsche, S is not merely a trim package, but indication of a separate and more powerful and dynamic model, and thus for 2007 the Porsche Boxster S also gets a new engine, a 3.4-liter boxer six that generates

What s new for 2007 2 295 horsepower that flows through a six-speed manual transmission to power the two-seat roadster to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds). But a larger and more powerful engine is just the beginning of what earns this car its S badge. The Boxster S also is equipped with larger wheels, tires and brakes and has special suspension tuning to accommodate its enhanced performance potential. Porsche Cayman While based on the Boxster chassis with its well-balanced mid-engine architecture, the Porsche Cayman is a unique sports car, both in its appearance and its dynamic capability. The Cayman Coupe has sleek styling and a rigid body that enhances its performance. That performance draws its energy from Porsche s 2.7-liter sixcylinder engine. With 245 horsepower, the Cayman sprints to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds) and has achieved a top test-track speed of 160 mph (258 km/h). Porsche Cayman S Like the Boxster S, the Cayman S is a higher-performance version of the Cayman. Like the Cayman, it has a fixed roof over its well-appointed interior with room for two people and plenty of cargo. In addition to its larger wheels, tires and brakes and other technical enhancements, the Cayman S draws its power from Porsche s 295-horsepower, 3.4-liter boxer engine and accelerates to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds) and achieves a top test-track speed of 171 mph (275 km/h). Porsche 911 Carrera The 911 Carrera is Porsche s flagship and its most venerable model and is available in Coupe and Cabriolet versions. The Coupe has a fixed metal roof, while the Cabriolet has a top that powers up or down at the touch of a button and can be opened or closed at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). While the 911 s silhouette may appear much as it did when the model was introduced more than 40 years ago, many changes have taken place, some spectacular, some subtle. For the 2007 model year, those changes include such things as standard tire pressure monitoring technology and the availability of new optional wheels. Power is provided by a 325-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine that propels the Carrera Coupe to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds (100 km/h in 5.0 seconds). While the Carrera Cabriolet needs 5.0 seconds to achieve the same speed (100 km/h in 5.2 seconds), it matches the Coupe on the test track, both cars reaching 177 mph (285 km/h). Porsche 911 Carrera S As with the Boxster and Cayman, the 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet are available in a higher-performance S model that for the 2007 model year also gets standard tire-pressure monitoring technology, new metallic colors and new optional wheels. The 911 Carrera S Coupe and Cabriolet share their architecture with the 911 Carreras, but enhance the package with racier suspension settings and brakes as well as with more powerful

What s new for 2007 3 355-horsepower, 3.8-liter boxer engines. The 911 Carrera S Coupe reaches 60 mph in 4.6 seconds (100 km/h in 4.8) while the Cabriolet does the same maneuver in 4.7 seconds (100 km/h in 4.9) and matches the Coupe at the top end, both hitting 182 mph (293 km/h) on the test track. Porsche 911 Carrera 4 The 911 Carrera 4 is the wide-bodied and all-wheel driven version of the 911 Carrera. Unlike many all-wheeldrive systems, Porsche s biases power to the rear wheels for the driving experience enthusiasts prefer, but it automatically shifts torque as needed to provide sure footing in aggressive cornering in inclement weather conditions. Like the 911 Carrera, the Carrera 4 is available in Coupe and Cabriolet models, gets standard tirepressure monitoring equipment for 2007 and is powered by Porsche s 325-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six. The couple reaches 60 mph in 4.9 seconds (100 km/h in 5.1 seconds) and the Cabriolet hits 60 in 5.1 (100 km/h in 5.3). Both have a top track speeds of 174 mph (280 km/h). Porsche 911 Carrera 4S The 911 Carrera 4S is the higher-performance version of the 911 Carrera 4 and gets the same equipment updates for 2007. But it also rides on specially engineered suspension, with larger brakes, wheels and tires, and draws its power from Porsche s 355-horsepower, 3.8-liter engine. The Carrera 4S Coupe hits 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds (100 km/h in 4.8 seconds) while the Cabriolet needs only 4.7 seconds to reach 60 (100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) and, like the Coupe, achieves a top speed on the test track of 179 mph (288 km/h). Porsche 911 Targa 4 For the first time, Porsche puts its unique Targa roof system atop a 911 platform that features both the eyepleasing wide-body look and dynamic all-wheel drive powertrain, The Targa s roof comprises two glass panels that provide occupants with a truly panoramic view even when the top is fully closed. For a more open-air experience, the front section of the roof opens like a huge sunroof. The 911 Targa 4 draws power from Porsche s 325-horsepower, 3.6-liter engine and accelerates to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds (100 km/h in 5.3 seconds). Porsche 911 Targa 4S For the first time, the Porsche Targa offers enthusiast drivers a choice of engines beneath the unique glass roof (the Targa is the only 911 model with a hatch-style rear roof section that provides access to the cargo area behind the rear seats). Thus the Targa 4S comes not only with Porsche Active Suspension Management technology but with Porsche s 355-horsepower 3.8-liter boxer six and accelerates to 60 mph in a mere 4.7 seconds (100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) on its way to a top speed on the test track of 179 mph (288 km/h).

What s new for 2007 4 Porsche 911 GT3 The 911 GT3 is created for the driving enthusiast who craves track days but who also demands such a capable car on regular roads. The 911 GT3 is propelled by the most powerful normally aspirated engine ever offered in a Porsche 911 in the North American market, a 3.6-liter powerplant that pumps out 415 horsepower an astounding 115.3 horsepower per liter and rockets the GT3 to 60 mph in an amazingly quick 4.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds). The GT3 s extensive performance package includes the appropriately large brakes as well as active and adjustable suspension that can be tuned to the demands of specific racetracks. Porsche 911 GT3 RS The RS badge of the 911 GT3 RS elevates it to the highest level of street-legal performance. Beyond its unique livery, the 911 GT3 RS is distinguished from the 911 GT3 on which it s based by a 44mm wider rear body for an even higher potential of lateral grip, split rear-suspension wishbones and the usage of carbon fiber parts like the front lid and rear wing to reduce weight. Thanks to the use of a single-mass flywheel the quick revving nature of the 415 horsepower 3.6-liter engine carried over from the GT3 was increased even further. This purist s variant of the 911 GT3 accelerates to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds) and will arrive at dealerships in spring 2007. Porsche 911 Turbo The 911 Turbo may be Porsche s ultimate expression of the road-going 911 architecture, and features not only the wide-body on top of a all-wheel-drive powertrain, but a revolutionary 480-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter boxer engine featuring Porsche s first application of variable turbine geometry (VTG). Available only in a Coupe body style, the 2007 911 Turbo generates an astounding 133 horsepower per liter and zooms to 60 mph in a microscopic 3.7 seconds (100 km/h in 3.9 seconds). The Tiptronic S version reaches the same speed even faster in 3.4 seconds (100 km/h in 3.7 seconds). Top speed on the test track is 193 mph (310 km/h), qualifying the 911 Turbo as a true world-class supercar. Porsche Cayenne It was the Cayenne that not only put the sport in sport utility, but underscored and boldfaced it, taking SUVs to a new level of dexterity and power. For the 2008 model year, the second-generation Porsche Cayenne features a new and more aggressive design and many new technological features. Power comes from a new 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 with direct fuel injection technology. The engine propels the Porsche SUV to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds (100 km/h in 8.1 seconds) and on to a top speed on the test track of 141 mph (227 km/h).

What s new for 2007 5 Porsche Cayenne S As with the Boxster, Cayman and 911 Carrera, the Cayenne S is a special and higher-performance model. For the Cayenne, the S designation includes many technical enhancements, including a 4.8-liter V8 engine equipped for the first time with both direct fuel injection and Porsche s VarioCam Plus valve controls. This engine pumps out 385 horsepower and accelerates the Cayenne S to 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds (100 km/h in 6.6 seconds) on its way to a top track speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). And yes, the Cayenne S qualifies as an ultra-low emission vehicle. Porsche Cayenne Turbo Add twin turbochargers to the Porsche V8 and additional standard equipment and you have the awesome Cayenne Turbo with an astounding 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This engine rockets the Porsche SUV to 60 mph in a supercar-like 4.9 seconds (100 km/h in 5.1 seconds) and on to a top speed on the test track of 171 mph (275 km/h). In addition to 2007 and 2008 model vehicles, Porsche dealers offer Certified Pre-Owned Porsches that have undergone a 100-point mechanical and appearance inspection and are backed by Porsche s limited vehicle warranty extension and roadside assistance programs. Information on all Porsche models can be found at www.press.porsche.com in the 2007 Model Year Press Kit section. Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
