2 Product description 2.1 Purpose Proper use 2 Product description Wrench, optional used for COMPACTtorque turbine(s) 636 P, 636 CP and POWERtorque turbine(s) 646 B, 646 C Spare turbine with wrench Mat. no. 0.553.8931 Spare turbine without wrench Mat. no. 0.553.8911 2.1 Purpose Proper use Purpose: The replacement turbine is a replacement part for the indicated turbines, and any kind of improper use is impermissible and can be hazardous. Proper use: According to these regulations, this medical device may only be used for the described application by a knowledgeable user. 3 Changing the replacement turbine 3 Changing the replacement turbine CAUTION Residues in the head or cover of the spare turbine. Malfunctions. Remove potential residues of a defective spare turbine such as washers or other parts from the head casing or cover. Note Change the replacement turbine only while the spray lid is attached. Remove the lid Place the wrench on the cover of the turbine, making sure that the catches are properly seated. Press the wrench toward the cover and unscrew the cover in counterclockwise direction. Take out the replacement turbine Use tweezers to push out and take out the replacement turbine from the front. Remove the O-rings Remove the O-rings from the head housing and cover with tweezers. Clean Before installation of the new replacement turbine, thoroughly clean the head housing and lid with a brush and tap water, and then dry them. Insert the O-rings CAUTION Incorrect position of the O-rings. Functional problem. Make sure that the O-rings are positioned correctly in the recesses. Replace both O-rings. 4/8
3 Changing the replacement turbine Spray O-rings with KaVo Spray and insert them in the head housing and cover. Insert the replacement turbine DANGER Not maintaining a torque of 100 Ncm when tightening the cover. Danger of injury; the cover can release and fall into the patient's mouth with the replacement turbine. Use a torque wrench (such as a 1/4" KaVo torque wrench 100 Ncm Mat. no. 1.002.4578). Insert the replacement turbine into the cover and completely screw it into the head housing. Tighten the cover clockwise with the wrench at a torque of 100 Ncm ± 6 Ncm. 5/8
4 First use 4 First use CAUTION Compressed air connection on devices. Dirty and moist compressed air causes premature bearing wear. Ensure that the cooling air is dry, clean and uncontaminated in accordance with EN ISO 7494-2. Spray through the medical device with the care agent recommended by KaVo and attach to the supply hose, firmly screwing into place (COMPACTtorque) or fasten to the MULTIflex coupling (POWERtorque). 6/8
5 Function test 5 Function test Insert a tool (cutter or grinder) and turn it radially by hand in different directions, applying slight thumb pressure, to precisely align the O-rings. Start the medical device. Perform a test run under axial and radial load. Tighten the cover again applying a torque of 100 Ncm ± 6 Ncm. Note If the unit runs poorly or heats up in untypical manner, please return the entire turbine contra-angle handpiece to KaVo for testing. 7/8
