Valve Repair. Pull the needle () out of the fluid housing ( or ).. Unscrew the fitting ( or ) from the piston housing ().. Push on the shaft of the piston () to remove it from the piston housing (). Remove the o-rings (* and *) from the piston. 0. Unscrew the packing nut (), using the packing nut tool. Remove the o-ring (*), fluid packing (*), and packing spacer (*), using the packing tool.. Clean and inspect the needle seat (0 or 0), needle (), piston housing (), and fluid housing ( or ) for wear or damage. Replace parts as needed. Assembly. Lubricate the o-rings (* and *) with petroleum jelly and place them on the piston ().. Install the piston () in the piston housing ().. Thread the fitting ( or ) into the piston housing (). Tighten the fitting to the torque shown in Fig... Guide the threaded end of the needle () through the bottom of the fluid housing ( or ). One at a time, install the needle packing (*), fluid packing (*) with the lips of the packing facing into the housing, and the o-ring (*) over the needle and into the fluid housing. See Fig... Using the packing nut tool, thread the packing nut () into the fluid housing ( or ) until there is some resistance on the needle (), which is about / turn after the nut touches the o-ring (). Slide the needle back and forth to make sure it moves freely.. Install the piston housing () on the fluid housing ( or ), aligning the air and fluid inlets.. Install the seat (0 or 0), valve adapter () on Models and 0, and screws (,, or 0) on the fluid housing ( or ). Tighten the screws just until the seat and housing come into contact.. Place the piston retainer () and retainer nut () on the needle (). Push the needle down against the seat (0 or 0), then tighten the piston retainer until it just contacts the top of the piston (). Now back off the piston retainer -/ turns.. Hold the piston retainer () and torque the retainer nut () to to in-lb (0. to 0. N m). 0. Install the spring (). Lubricate the retaining cap () threads with petroleum jelly and thread the retaining cap onto the piston housing ().. Torque the four screws () oppositely and evenly to to in-lb (0. to 0. N m). If leakage occurs, retorque the screw to in-lb (0. N m) maximum. Fig. * * * Lips must face into housing or. Apply air to the air inlet fitting and actuate the valve several times. Check for any air leaks by submerging in water and watching for escaping air bubbles. Then apply approximately 0 psi (0. MPa,. bar) of air pressure to the fluid inlet. Submerge in water and watch for escaping air bubbles. Tighten or replace parts as necessary to eliminate any leaks.. Attach the color/trigger valve to the manifold. 0
