Summary of changes Simplifying the 17 th Edition Understanding new regulations is never easy... that s why we ve tried to make it as simple as possible. To comply with the 17 th Edition, we ve launched a selection of new dual RCD split load units with 10 or 16 outgoing ways. Regulation : 411.3.3 Summary : Regulation : 522.6.6 522.6.7 Summary : Socket outlets for general use in domestic installations require additional protection by an RCD* Cables buried in a wall or partition at a depth of less than mm and not mechanically protected by appropriate earthed metal require additional protection by an RCD* Regulation : 701.411.3.3 Summary : All circuits in locations containing a bath or shower shall be protected by one or more RCDs* Regulation : 314.1 Existing units can be easily upgraded for a 17 th Edition installation by replacing MCBs with RCBOs on unprotected ways. RCD* protection for increased safety, especially for the end-user in domestic installations... plus reduced likelihood of unwanted tripping by sensibly dividing the installation. Summary : All circuits of an installation should not be connected to a single upstream RCD* in order to avoid unwanted tripping, hazards and minimise inconvenience in the event of a fault * not exceeding 30 ma (*with a rated residual current not exceeding 30 ma - Reg. 415.1.1) 2
