The problems and related trouble shooting steps listed in this guide are the most common and prevalent installation problems that Directed Electronics, Inc. Engine starts, runs for 10-seconds, then stops Engine starts runs for 10 seconds and then stops. Does engine try to restart? Perform shutdown diagnostics see Owner s guide Is voltage checking On? Check tachometer connections and perform learn tachometer. Change voltage checking level to Low. The engine checking feature has an Off position. Starter will not stop cranking Engine is not running, but starter still cranking. Starter cranks right after parking lights flash. Starter cranks 2- seconds after parking lights flash. Ensure that the ignition and starter wires are not reversed. Check 12V connections at control module. Check ignition connections. 2003 directed electronics, inc. 5

Starter will not crank Starter will not crank (ignition is On) Is there 12V on the VIOLET starter wire during remote start. Check the fuse on the relay pack Does vehicle start wire have 12V during remote start? Does the vehicle s start wire have 12V during remote start? Is the VIOLET starter wire connected to the starter side of the anti-grind or starter kill relay? Was the anti-grind or starter kill relay installed? Check starter wire connection. Does the vehicle have an immobilizer? Was the immobilizer bypass module installed Install the immobilizer bypass module Check the immobilizer wiring and connections 6 2003 directed electronics, inc.

A/C and heater are not working A/C and heater are not working Is accessory wire connected? Connect this wire (refer to the owner s guide) Does the ORANGE wire have 12V during remote start? Check the fuse in the relay pack Does the accessory wire in the vehicle have 12V during remote start? Check accessory wire connections. Does the vehicle information indicate 2 nd accessory wire? Alarm goes off while driving vehicle Alarm goes off while driving vehicle This is usually symptomatic of an intermittent connection. Was system armed while driving? Check ignition, power, and ground connections Check door ajar and door trigger connections. Was panic mode activated? 8 2003 directed electronics, inc.

Engine cranks, but won t start Engine cranks but won t start Verify ignition wire(s) connection. Doe the vehicle information indicate multiple ignition wires? Does the vehicle have an immobilizer? Check the tachometer wires and connections Connect all necessary ignition wires. Was the bypass module installed? Vehicle won t start in cold weather or early in morning Vehicle won t remote start in cold weather or early in morning Does the vehicle try to restart? Perform shut-down diagnostics (refer to guide). Does the vehicle start on subsequent attempts? Is there an immobilizer bypass module installed? Change the tachometer wire or relearn the tachometer to a slightly higher rpm. Check the connections and positioning of the immobilizer bypass module 10 2003 directed electronics, inc.

Remote start triggers alarm at startup/shutdown (alarm is armed) Remote start triggers alarm at / startup/shutdown, if the alarm is armed. Check alarm diagnostics. Is Zone 5 - Ignition cause. Is Zone 3 - Door Trigger cause? Is Zone 2 - Shock or Zone 4 - Shock #2 the cause? Isolate alarm ignition input from remote start wiring using relay and status output. Isolate door trigger from dome light using 508D relay and status output. Disconnect power to sensor during remote start - using relay and status output. Change the tachometer wire or relearn the tachometer to a slightly higher rpm. te: If Zone 3 - door trigger is the cause of the alarm being triggered, the dome light will turn on when the remote start is shutdown. 2003 directed electronics, inc. 11

System does not respond to remote response from the remote after installation. Is the antenna cable plugged into the controller and antenna? Plug in the antenna. Check and correct the power and ground wiring/ connections. Use a test antenna, plug in and test. Reprogram the remotes. 12 2003 directed electronics, inc.

The siren will not chirp The siren will not chirp. When the ignition is off, is the LED On continuously? Does the siren sound when the alarm is triggered? 1. Check the power and ground connections on the siren. 2. Check the connection on the BROWN siren output wire. The system is in Valet Mode. Ensure the siren confirmation chirps are programmed On. The siren moans The siren moans all the time? Check the ground on the siren and the controller. This symptom is caused by an poor ground connection. Always ground directly by using the chassis. Do NOT ground using a bracket, door or hood panel. 14 2003 directed electronics, inc.

Windows roll up, when ignition is shut off (529T or 530T options) When I shut the key off the windows roll up. Diode isolate the window roll-up ORANGE wire (ground when armed) on the starter kill relay. Refer to www.diyrattler.com for technical document. 2003 directed electronics, inc. 15

False alarms False alarms Count the number of times the LED flash after the system is disarmed and check system diagnostics. Refer to table of zones in the guide to determine the cause of the false alarm. Is Zone 1 - Instant trigger (hood/trunk) the cause? Is Zone 2 - Shock or Zone 4 - Shock #2 the cause? Shock sensor does not work Shock sensor does not work. When the system is disarmed, are there 5 chirps? The Nuisance Prevention Circuitry has been activated. Turn the ignition On and then Off to reset the NPC. Ensure the shock sensor/control module is securely mounted and properly adjusted. When the system is disarmed, are there 2 chirps?
