Introduction 1. Introduction Dear 928 enthusiasts, here we are again with the latest news from the EURO 928 2003. We made our trip through the Nürburgring area and had a close look at several hotels in question. The Nürburgring area is very beautiful and the roads are good and sometimes quite challenging. Of course, we will provide maps of the area. We chose a very nice hotel in the small and picturesque village of STADTKYLL. Stadtkyll is easy to reach from all directions and far away enough from the Nürburgring to make sure the car is all warmed up. The Hotel am Park has a big parking lot which will be reserved exclusively for us. The location brings back memories from the first meeting in Alsace and we feel it is perfect for us. We reserved a contingent of double rooms and single rooms at the hotel. You will also find addresses of other hotels and pension nearby just in case we are run over by much more 928 enthusiasts than we ever could hope for. Please notice that you have to make the hotel reservation yourself! You will find all information in this newsletter. We will collect the payment for the registration and the food in advance. You can calculate the total amount in the EXCEL registration form attached to this newsletter. Of course you will receive a confirmation for your payment. This year s motto will be TECH & TRACK. We will learn a lot about our cars during a suspension alignment at the Porsche dealership in Aachen. John Speake will provide a calibrated mass air sensor for LH cars and you will have the opportunity to test it in your own car. If Jay Kempf will manage to come over this year, he gladly will demonstrate his famous Kempf-tool for checking the timing belt tension. and we are working on other attractions. The NORDSCHLEIFE is a story for itself. You will find many links and information about it. We hope that you will like the following program and make your reservation quickly. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or comments. As soon as we have new information, we will contact you again. We are looking forward to meet you all in September. All the best, Andrea & Kurt

Competitions 4. Competitions 4.1. Mr. 928 There are some changes in the Mr. 928 competition. In order to win the title not only theoretical knowledge about the 928 is essential but also practical. This means that all participants will get a questionnaire about the 928 on Friday afternoon. So, brush up your knowledge! The quiz has to be returned very quickly, latest 18.00 o clock on Friday. You will find a box in the hotel lobby. We will pick out the three best candidates and they will have to meet several challenges during the barbeque party. This is a surprise, but be sure of one thing: it will be great fun for both participants and spectators! The winner is the Mr. 928 2003 and he will get to wear the yellow winner s T-Shirt during the remaining time of the event 4.2. Concourse d elegance The goal of this competition is to honor all efforts to keep the 928 in best possible condition. EURO928-2003 The Nürburgring 7. The Nürburgring from Ben Lovejoy s page (http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/intro.html) Originally built as a dual-purpose race-track and manufacturer s test-track, the Nürburgring used to be the German Grand Prix circuit until Niki Lauda's horrific accident there in 1976. Formula One was developing safety standards requiring run-off, gravel traps and tyre-walls; the Nürburgring offered only armco, trees and bloody great drops! It was never used for Formula 1 racing again. Although not widely known, the Ring has always allowed public access. When not being used for racing (extremely rare these days), testing or private hire, it is officially a one-way public toll-road. Buy a ticket and you can drive/ride a lap. And because it's officially a public road, your normal car/bike insurance applies. In addition we strongly recommend a membership in the ADAC or any other country s automobil club which has an agreement with the ADAC (please, check beforehand!). The result is the ultimate track-day! 13 miles (ca. 20 km) and at least 73 bends add up to what even racing drivers describe as the most demanding circuit in the world. It's hard to describe just how good it is until you've been there, but if you can imagine your favorite mountain road and your favorite race-track, and combine the best bits of the two, you'll get the general idea.
