Marlin Bath Lift BLM-8200 www.inspiredbydrive.com WARNING! Read ALL instructions before using this product!

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS Your Marlin Bath Lift has been built to the highest standards of quality to ensure years of superior service. Please take the time to read this instruction guide and pay particular attention to the safety information provided. This bath lift conforms to the legal standards DIN EN ISO 10535:2006 and DIN EN 60601-1:1996. The Marlin BPS is built with high-quality, recyclable lightweight plastic. This makes our product easy to transport, stow away and is ideally suited for use in the home or away. The lithium-ion battery is located in the handset. The handset itself can float in the water. The drive motor and control electronics are completely water tight, so you can use the bath lift even with the shower on. The drive unit with integrated backrest can be folded down for removal and automatically locks in to the seat base when the lift is raised. This prevents unintentional reclining of the backrest. Intelligent power control ensures that the lift can only be lowered if sufficient power is available to raise it again. Here are precautions you should take to reduce the risk of injury: Read and understand ALL instructions. Determine, with a physician or therapist, the suitability of this product for the intended user. ALWAYS keep animals and children away from the bath lift. In the event of malfunction or damage, please contact your specialist dealer immediately. Do not perform any makeshift repairs or modifications. Repair work has to be carried out by authorized technicians or by the manufacturer only. Non-adherence to this provision will render our guarantee invalid. When using bath oils or salts, please observe the recommended dosage such additives may affect the gliding behavior of the crossbar mechanism. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. If you require additional assistance, please contact Inspired by Drive Customer Service at (562) 282-0244, or email at info@inspiredbydrive.com. Thank you for choosing Inspired by Drive. 2

IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES Never use the bath lift to climb in or out of the bath. Never use it as a stand, lifting device, ladder, support, or for any similar purposes outside of the bath. The lift is to be used only to take a bath. To reduce the risk of injury or drowning, NEVER leave the user unsupervised or unattended while using this product. Make sure the user is buckled in at all times during use. Always sit down the middle of the lift with your back against the backrest, with your legs stretched slightly forward and place your free hand either on the edge of the bath or on your lap. Use the other hand to operate the handset to raise or lower the lift. Only raise or lower the lifting rod when the backrest is in an upright position and fully locked. While raising or lowering the lift, do not place your hand between the bath edge and the lift or underneath the seat as this may cause injury. Persons with severe or mental disabilities must never be left unattended in the bath. Only take a bath without any help if your ability allows you to do so otherwise, ask someone to assist you. Before using the bath lift a test run should be carried out to check for the correct raising, lowering and EMERGENCY STOP functions. If a malfunction has occurred, do not operate the bath lift and ask your specialist dealer to remedy the problem. Do not use any objects that could get stuck in the mechanism (e.g. brushes, etc.) while using the bath lift! Do not use height adapters for this product. Contents 3

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Before the first use, it is vital that the battery be fully charged. Plug the charger into the handset then plug the charger into the wall outlet. The light on the handset will light up red and turn green when it s fully charged (approximately 4 hours). A charge can last up to 6 lifts depending on the weight of the user and condition of the battery. By charging the battery after each use, the battery will maintain its use to its fullest. If the device is not used for extended period, the battery should be recharged every 3 months in order to increase the longevity of the device. 2. Install two suction cups to the front of the base. Press the tongue of the suction cup into the recesses on the baseplate (Fig 1). 3. Install the remaining two suction cups to the rear of the base. The tongue of the rear suction cups must be directed away from the base (Fig. 2). 4. Insert the backrest into the bearing block of the base (Fig. 3A). It is very important that both guide pins are inserted into the bearing block (Fig. 3B). Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3A Figure 3B 5. Lift the backrest an angle until it clicks into the latch (Fig. 4A). Check to make sure that the lifting rod is position correctly in the base as the back is tilted (Fig. 4B). Figure 4A Figure 4B 4

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Cover Installation 1. Insert the upper tabs of the backrest cover into the top holes of the backrest. Push the locking buttons on the tabs into the button receivers on the rear of the backrest (Fig. 5). 2. Push in the lower locking buttons of the cover to the receivers on the bottom of the backrest (Fig. 6). 3. Place the seat cover on the seat, making sure that the cutout of the cover matches the cutout on the seat and the side flaps are pushed all the way forward (Fig. 7). 4. Slide the cover onto the side flap (Fig. 8). Engage locking buttons on the seat cover. Figure 5 Figure 6 Figure 7 Figure 8 Handset GREEN light: Ready for operation. ORANGE light: Limited readiness for operation. When the charging level of the battery falls to a factory-defined level, the light on the handset changes to orange and it will start to blink slowly. This indicates that there is enough power for one lift and the battery should be charged according to the operating instructions. RED light: Lift no longer ready for operation. If you continue to use the bath lift the light will change from orange to red and start to flash at fast intervals. In this case, the bath lift will only move upwards to ensure that you can leave the bath safely. The battery must now be charged immediately. 1 - Down (blue) 2 - Emergency-Off (red) 3 - LED 4 - Up (yellow) 5 - On (green) Figure 9 5

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Before operating the first time, make sure that the battery is fully charged. 1. Make sure that the bottom of the bath is empty and clean (remove anti-slip mats or similar, if necessary). 2. Plug the handset into the connector behind the backrest (Fig. 9). Make sure the plug is fully engaged. 3. Press the ON (green) button on the handset. Press the UP (yellow) button to raise the bath lift and DOWN (blue) to lower. NOTES: Always let the user lean back against the backrest and keep the hands on the side flaps while operating the bath lift. If the backrest pushes against the back wall, release the button immediately and reposition the bath lift further away from the wall. The power will shutoff automatically when the bath lift is at its highest or lowest position. The bath lift will automatically shut off if it s left on idle for more than 30 minutes. If the bath lift needs to remain in the bathtub, disconnect the handset from the bath lift to prevent the battery from discharging. Bath Lift Removal and Transport Ensure that all of the accessories are removed from the bath lift. 1. Drain the water from the bathtub. Rinse any residue of soap or bathing additives from the bath lift (preferably with hot water). 2. Fold the side flaps onto the seat. 3. Lower the bath lift to its lowest position and the backrest to its upright. 4. Fold the backrest forward using the handles on top. The bath lift can be removed and/or transport as a single or two separate units. 6 Figure 9

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Transport as an interlocked unit: Ensure that the seat locking latch is fully engaged by pushing it down (Fig. 10). 1. Lift the release handle on the rear suction cups to release them off the tub (Fig. 11). 2. Lift the bath lift from the rear of the Figure 10 base (Fig 12), this action will loosen the front suction cups. The bath lift may now be removed from the tub. Figure 11 Figure 12 Transport as two separate units: 1. Remove the backrest by sliding it upward at a 45 angle (Fig. 13). Note: The backrest can only be removed at an angle shown in Fig. 13. When the backrest is completely folded down, it will be locked and cannot be removed from the base unit. The lifting rod must be fully retracted (Fig. 14). If not, use the handset to retract the lifting rod. 2. Lift the release handle of the rear suction cups. 3. Lift the base from the rear to remove it from the tub. Figure 13 Figure 14 7

MAINTENANCE AND CARE Inspired by Drive recommends that the bath lift be thoroughly examined every 6 months and serviced every 12 months by a qualified technician. Ensure that the handset and charger cables are free from damage. Check the condition of the suction cups and ensure they are free from damage which could affect their operation. Dust the suction cups with talcum powder when not in use. Cleaning To keep the bath lift in a good working condition, clean immediately after each use (preferably with hot water). Use non-abrasive cleaner or disinfectant to clean the bath lift without covers. Test a small area of the suitability of the cleaning/disinfecting agents. Wipe the battery pack with a damp cloth and allow to air dry before use. The covers can be washed in the washing machine on gentle cycle at 140 F (60 C) with a mild detergent. Lay the covers flat to dry. Do not dry the covers in the dryer. Storage During a long period of inactivity, charge the battery monthly for maximum efficiency. If the battery has been exposed to low temperature for long period (i.e. storage in a vehicle during weather), allow it to warm up to room temperature before using. 8
