POWER GENERATION SYSTEMS The Power Generation Systems on HI 595 CF&D consist of three Waukesha 7042 gas driven generators and two diesel driven generators. Two of the three Gas Generators must run to provide power for the entire facility. The two Diesel Generators provide limited power for essential equipment but cannot run the entire facility. A. DIESEL EMERGENCY GENERATOR PRE-STARTUP PROCEDURES SECTION 3, PART A before beginning any start-up procedures. NOTICE: The Waukesha 7042 gas driven generators are the primary generators on the platform. The Diesel Emergency Generator provides limited power for essential equipment. 1. Verify the level in the diesel fuel day tank. 2. Verify the coolant level in the radiator. 3. Check the lube oil level in the crankcase and the oil make-up tank. 4. Verify that all emergency generator lock-out systems are clear. WARNING: Any operating parameter that is monitored by a safety device must be continuously monitored at all times while the safety device(s) are in bypass. Reset each engine start panel by turning the Lead-Standby selector switch to OFF. 2. Reset the 86 lock-out switch at the annunciator panel. 3. Turn the START switch to MANUAL 4. Monitor the Generator as the engine starts and comes up to speed and voltage 5. Close the manual breaker which is at knee level 6. Verify that circuit breaker is closed. a. Lights will be on 7. D. DIESEL BACKUP GENERATOR STARTUP PROCEDURES (WAUKESHA 7042 GAS DRIVEN GENERATORS ARE NOT RUNNING) SECTION 3, PART A before beginning any start-up procedures. WARNING: This Generator is not wired in to the Main Breaker. Before starting this Generator a JSA and Pre-Job Safety Meeting will need to be held and an electrician will be required to install the cables to the Main Breaker 1. Verify the Gas Powered Generators are not running. 2. Verify the Gas Powered Generators breakers are in the Open position 3. Verify the power cables from the Diesel Backup Generator have been installed to the platform main Breaker. 4. Turn power supply switch to on position. 5. Press manual button directly above the STOP button. (A message will pop up on screen (Not in automatic) 6. Press the START button 7. After engine has started, allow to warm up for 5 minutes. 8. 9. Verify that circuit breaker is closed. 10. E. WAUKESHA 7042 GAS DRIVEN GENERATORS PRE-STARTUP PROCEDURES SECTION 3, PART A before beginning any start-up procedures. NOTICE: Any of the three Gas Driven Waukesha 7042 Generators can be used but a minimum of TWO Generators are required to be on line to provide full facility power 1. Check engine fluids on the Waukesha 7042 gas engines a. Verify coolant level is adequate b. Verify lube oil is adequate 2. Verify all vent and drain valves in fuel gas supply components are closed a. MAJ-2110, Generator Fuel Filters b. MAJ-2120, Generator Fuel Filters c. MAJ-2130, Generator Fuel Filters NOTICE: Any vessel purging should be done prior to getting system ready for start-up. 3. Verify manual valves are open or closed as necessary to correctly direct fuel gas to the Generator Prime Movers 4. Verify that the liquid level controllers, pressure controllers and control valves are in service and ready for flow a. MAJ-2110, Generator Fuel Filter Inlet gas PCV b. MAJ-2120, Generator Fuel Filter Inlet gas PCV c. MAJ-2130, Generator Fuel Filter Inlet gas PCV 5. 6. Reset the control system to open the Fuel Filters inlet SDV WARNING: Any operating parameter that is monitored by a safety device must be continuously monitored at all times while the safety device(s) are in bypass. The bypassed safety devices (indicators) must be flagged while in bypass and reset as they come in-service. REFER TO: Section 3 Part A for further details on bypassed devices. 7. F. WAUKESHA 7042 GAS DRIVEN GENERATORS START-UP PROCEDURES 1. Physically inspect and verify that the Waukesha gas engines and the generator are mechanically prepared to start. 2. Reset each engine start panel by turning the Lead-Standby selector switch to OFF. 3. Reset the 86 lock-out switch at the annunciator. Engine Start WARNING: Verify the Diesel Generator is Shutdown and disconnected before continuing 4. Cycle the selector switch to LEAD. a. Cranks and starts the engine 5. Verify engine is running with cooling fans on 6. Close circuit breaker to energize the platform CAUTION: Except when servicing the breaker, the local breaker control switch should never be used to trip or close the breaker. Synchronize the Generators 7. Start a second Generator engine using the steps 6 &7 outlined above in Engine Start. 8. Once the two units are up to rated speed and temperature, cycle the SYNCH SWITCH on the desired unit to the ON position a. 9. When the arm of the Synchroscope is pointed up and at top dead center position, close the circuit breaker controller on the desired unit NOTICE: Under normal conditions, All circuit breakers should be closed (Red) for automatic operation, the two selector switches in Lead (running) and one in Standby. 10. G. DIESEL EMERGENCY GENERATOR SHUT-DOWN PROCEDURES (WAUKESHA 7042 GAS DRIVEN GENERATORS RUNNING) SECTION 4, PART A before beginning any shut-down procedures. 1. Unload the diesel driven generator a. Open the circuit breaker 2. Turn the Selector switch at the Diesel Generator Control Panel to the Off position. 3. Once the Diesel Generator has stopped, turn the selector switch to the Standby position, this will leave the Diesel Generator ready to automatically start as needed. Open the circuit breaker 2. Allow the engine sufficient time to cool down with no load before shutting unit down. 3. Press the STOP button, the unit will shut down. Turn the power supply to the OFF position. I. WAUKESHA 7042 GAS DRIVEN GENERATORS SHUT-DOWN PROCEDURES NOTICE: Shut-down of one WAUKESHA 7042 GAS DRIVEN GENERATORS will cause an automatic start of the Diesel Emergency Generator 1. Unload the generator to be shutdown a. Cycle the circuit breaker on the generator to be shutdown to the OPEN position 2. Turn the Selector switch at the generator to be shutdown to the Off position. 3. Once the generator has stopped, turn the selector switch to the Standby position, if unit is to be on standby, or keep the selector switch in the OFF position for mechanical work preparation.
