Plant and Equipment Operation is a member of the Highways and Construction Training Association (HCTA). We offer training and assessment under the Equipment Operators Registration Scheme (EORS) and the Light Plant Operators Registration Scheme (LPORS) managed by HCTA. This scheme offers training and assessment in order to ensure standard national performance levels. This scheme, in common with all other similar schemes, has no legal standing. However, this scheme has been viewed by the Health and Safety Executive and they accepted that candidates who had successfully completed the assessment would be deemed to have achieved a suitable standard of training to meet the requirements of current Health and Safety legislation. In order to complete the assessment the delegate would be required to: Complete a multi-choice question paper on Health and Safety or Complete the OPERC on-line Health and Safety Test or Have successfully completed the CSCS touch-screen Health and Safety Test in the preceding 2 years. Operate the item of plant or equipment efficiently and safely whilst being observed by an approved assessor. Answer oral questions that confirm underpinning knowledge and ability to operate in a variety of situations. Registration is for a period of five years and re-registration is subject to re-assessment on safety awareness and practical operation.
