Jeep Patriot Radio Removal (continued) 12. Starting at the bottom use a panel removal tool to pry loose the radio bezel. Fig. 11 13. Using a 7mm wrench remove the four screws securing the HVAC controls to the back of the radio bezel. Fig. 12 Fig. 11 Fig. 12 14. Disconnect the hazard light switch and set the bezel aside. Fig. 13 15. Remove the four 7mm screws securing the radio, pull the radio from the dash and disconnect the wiring. Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the locking antenna connector away from the radio. Caution: Pulling the antenna cable straight out of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna connector could damage the cable or radio. Fig. 14 Fig. 13 Fig. 14 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 4 of 10
Power Harness Installation 16. Lift up on the B pillar post cover and then pull it towards the center of the car to remove. Fig. 15 17. Using a panel removal tool gently pry up the threshold/kick panel along the bottom of the front and rear door openings to release fasteners and remove panel. Fig. 16 Fig. 15 Fig. 16 18. Find the black plastic fastener securing the driver s side kick panel under the instrument panel and unscrew it. Fig. 17 19. Pull backwards on the kick panel to remove it. 20. Pull the cover of the foot rest to snap it loose. Fig. 18 Fig. 17 Fig. 18 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 5 of 10
Power Harness Installation (continued) 21. Using a 10mm nut driver remove the nut securing the base of the foot rest. Fig. 19 22. Pull the front edge of the carpet down past the accelerator pedal. 23. Find the small drain hose coming from the HVAC housing that penetrates the floor pan near the accelerator pedal and pull it inside the vehicle. 24. Locate the battery access cover under the hood and remove according to the instructions printed on top of the panel. Fig. 20 Fig. 19 Fig. 20 25. Disengage the metal fasteners on the air filter box cover and move the cover to one side out of the way. It is not necessary to disconnect any of the ducting connected to the cover. Fig. 21 26. Remove the air filter and set aside. Pull straight up on the air filter housing and remove it from the vehicle. Fig. 22 Fig. 21 Fig. 22 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 6 of 10
Power Harness Installation (continued) 27. Using a 10mm nut driver loosen and remove the nut on the positive battery accessory lug. 28. Connect the ring terminal of the power harness (PN RH41PMP) to the lug and retighten the nut. Fig. 23 29. Detach the white three pin connector from the harness and route the wire toward the rubber grommet that had the HVAC drain hose coming through it next to where the steering column comes through the fire wall securing with wire ties where needed. Fig. 24 Fig. 23 Fig. 24 30. Pass the power wire through the grommet. 31. Find where the wire is coming through the fire wall on the interior of the vehicle. Pull enough wire through to allow the end to reach the area where the foot rest was mounted. While holding the power wire, reinstall the hose through the grommet so that the power wire is captured between the hose and the grommet. Fig. 25 32. Install the supplied three pin connector by inserting the terminals on the end of the power wire into the open holes in the back of the connector until they click and lock. Fig. 26 Fig. 25 Fig. 26 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 7 of 10
Amplifier Installation 33. Plug the power wire connector on amplifier harness (PN RH41PM) to the connector you installed on the wires coming from the fuse block. Fig. 27 34. Route the wire harness up from below the steering column to the radio cavity. 35. Pass the radio harness connecter behind the metal framework indicated by the arrow in Fig. 28 36. Connect the male radio harness connecter to the female connecter of the amp harness and tuck this connection into the void directly below the area where the radio mounts to avoid interference with radio during reinstallation. 37. Route male connector of the amp harness back around the beam as the radio harness originally was. Fig. 28 38. You can now connect the radio to the amp harness and reconnect the antennae wire and reinstall the radio. Fig. 27 Fig. 28 39. Route the subwoofer harness along the edge of the front and rear door openings securing with wire ties where needed. Fig. 29 40. Using a Torx T55 driver, remove the two bolts securing the bottom back seat cushion and remove the cushion from the vehicle. Fig. 30 Fig. 29 Fig. 30 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 8 of 10
Amplifier Installation (continued) 41. Lift the load floor and rotate the right side to allow it to be removed from the vehicle. Fig. 31 42. Pull the molded fabric cover loose from between the rear seat and the spare tire. Fig. 32 Fig. 31 Fig. 32 43. Route the wire under the rear quarter panel cover and out through the relief near where the rear seat belt is bolted to the floor. Fig. 33 44. Continue routing the wire harness along the bottom of the car to the passenger s side and pull it up between the seat and cargo floor. 45. Pull up on the rear quarter panel and slide the wire harness behind it. There is a notch the wire can be placed in. Fig. 34 Fig. 33 Fig. 34 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 9 of 10
Amplifier Installation (continued) 46. Plug the amplifier in and install it over the three studs. Fig. 35 47. Place the ground wire over the stud closest to the seat and install the supplied nuts and tighten. Fig. 36 Fig. 35 Fig. 36 Important! If you have previously installed a Kicker subwoofer kit (#77KICK14 or #77KICK22) you would have tapped into the left front door speaker wires in the kick panel area. Disconnect those wires and reconnect them to the brown and green wires in the 4.1 amplifier harness. The brown wire connects to the brown wire and the green wire connects to the green wire. Fig. 37 Fig. 37 48. Reinstall all previously removed parts in reverse order. Torque the rear seat bottom cushion bolts to 60 ft. lbs 49. Install supplied fuse in fuse holder under hood. 77KICK37 9/16/2008 Page 10 of 10
