VEHICLES INFORMATION VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS 911 TRANSFER CALLS Vehicle is parked on public street in right of way blocking traffic Vehicle is creating a traffic hazard on a main roadway APD VEHICLE ABATEMENT CALLS The District Rep offices will handle vehicle abatement issues for their own district. Any issues/complaints regarding vehicle abatement should be directed toward that citizen s District Rep office. LOCATING A CITIZENS DISTRICT REP District Reps & Regions KB Doc ve the caller the main phone number of that sectors District Representative, located in the Vehicles abandoned or junked parked on private property Vehicle abatement will address an RV parked in street if it s been parked for longer than 72 hours but the citizen could just move the vehicle a few feet Vehicles being sold that are parked on the street Junk vehicles parked in the driveway Trailers and/or Boats. For these calls the trailer or boat has to be unattached (not hooked up to a vehicle) and on the street for longer than 72 continuous hours Cannot park RV s, travel trailers(including food trailers), jet skis, heavy equipment, etc. in street for longer than 72 continuous hours Abandoned Vehicles parked on the street that has broken windows, flat tires etc. Vehicles that weigh over 9,000 lbs. 18-wheeler parking is prohibited at all times in residential neighborhoods Excessive leaving fluids Heavy debris on or under vehicle/ cars parked on the street being used as storage devices If the voicemail box is full citizen will have to call back or go online to fill out report. Vehicles parked more than 18 inches from curb Unwanted vehicles on property that the caller owns or manages Cars parked in alleyways

Vehicles abandoned on highway Vehicles inoperable in their yard Vehicles parking on lawn/yard parking Vehicles parking partially in the yard Vehicles parked with left tire to the curb in residential areas or frequent areas vehicle park left tire to curb (have to be a reoccurring issue in public thoroughfares, such as the downtown area) for the District Rep to investigate. If it only happen one time, then follow the APD non-emergency process Vehicles parked in driveway blocking sidewalk i.e. (when the rear of vehicle is going over the apron of the driveway)

Non-Issues/Acts that have no recourse Cars that are parked without inspections/registration stickers that are expired (This is a moving violation, not a parking violation we cannot tag these parked cars per City Legal and Travis County) APD doesn t enforce HOA bylaws Car parked for a long time there is no time limit on how long a legally parked car can remain on the street. They can be parked indefinitely. Cars in apartment parking lots should be referred to that apartment s office management APD cannot tow off private property APD cannot tow parked vehicles from a valet space on private property (i.e. parking garage which has spaces designated for valet parking). A Concerns in the Row SR should be created to address complaints about valet companies using too many meters, blocking streets, etc. COA Parking Enforcement enforces regulations in and around the Downtown & UT area, between the hours of 8:45am to 5:25pm Monday Friday. If citizen is reporting within normal business hours, submit Parking Violation Enforcement SR APD Non-Emergency handles the following: Vehicles blocking alley way Vehicles parking in handicap space without handicap sticker/permit Vehicles illegally parked/vehicles in no parking zone/vehicles parked in fire lanes Vehicles blocking a driveway Parking violations on a valet lane on a public street Vehicles parked within 15 feet of fire hydrant Commercial Vehicles parked in residential neighborhood overnight. Issues with vehicles parked on half street/sidewalk Vehicle Commercial Idling Commercial Vehicles Parking in a commercial area blocking a driveway. An RV parked in the street and they are living in that RV, non-emergency will address the issue Placing cones along a public street curb to keep someone from parking in front of their home. Parking violations downtown afterhours Vehicles that are being driven with outdated tags IF APD is not available, please enter an APD Nonemergency- Unavailable SR and answer other for What is the issue. AUSTIN CODE- REQUEST CODE OFFICER SR Vehicle Boats/RV s parked in driveway not shielded from view by 6 foot wood or masonry fence Mobile Homes/Trailers(including food trailers) on lawn /yard There must not be more vehicles stored in the driveway of a residence than there are licensed drivers. Additional vehicles must be in garage. If more vehicles are being stored at the residence (besides those in the garage), submit an Austin Code Request Code Officer SR. Issues with vehicles that are parked in the street should be reported to APD Non-Emergency. BICYCLE ISSUES SR Vehicles Parking on Bicycle Lane Issues It is legal to park in some bike lanes in Austin. To report illegal parking in a bicycle lane, a NO PARKING SIGN must be in place. The Bicycle Program now has the ability to go investigate and write tickets. They don't, however, have the ability to respond immediately and will not respond at all after regular working hours.
