Question #1- What kind of emblem do you need? Whether the builder needs a restoration emblem, a modified factory emblem, or a logo signature emblem for generating additional recognition. the emblem has to the same quality as the cars and that s how we make them. Logo Signature Emblems Many of the builders we work with, like Chip Foose, Rick Dore, and Troy Trepanier, realize that the emblem is a focal point on the car; and an opportunity to generate interest in their project and help establish their brand. Cars and their emblems have a rich history. In fact, car builders have been using logo emblems for over a century to differentiate themselves and their brand values, and gain recognition. Product distinction has never been as important as it is today.
Restoration Emblems I suspect you are like many of the builders we work with, and there are times when you just can t find the emblem you need to complete your restoration project. Can a new one be created to the historical factory specs? That s what we do here s an example:. We were recently called in on a project restoring the first Deusenberg ever built. Our part in the project was to recreate the original wheel caps. Only one was still in existence, and it was in pretty bad shape. We used that as a reference to model the new ones after. How do you think they came out?
Modified Factory Emblems Many times, builders come to me looking for an emblem that has a factory look, but has a different name, engine number, or other details added. They need something that matches the level of professionalism of their work on the car. Everyone immediately knows there is something different about this 1968 Chevelle, with its custom 502 emblems replacing the stock 396 emblems. We recreated the same font, thickness, angles, even the same stud placement for this set of one off emblems. This emblem was for a special edition GTO built a few years ago. We rebuilt the GTO emblem to factory specs, with the addition of the Jim Wanger signature. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Question #2- How many do I need to purchase and how much do they cost? You can have just one emblem created, or you can get hundreds made for you. As with all custom projects, there is no one fits all pricing. The examples shown below are a good rule of thumb: One Off Emblems: Created for a specific car, many are on award winning show cars Many requests are for a pair fender emblems. Cast in metal with triple chrome plate (other finishes available). $1500 for a pair. Limited Production Emblems: Often used by car builders for signing their vehicles, as a work of art. Cast in metal with triple chrome plate (other finishes available). $250 per piece, six piece minimum. One time tooling and setup $1000. Full Production Emblems: For larger quantity production, 300 piece minimum. Chrome plate over resin, used on 95% of cars on the road today- High quality factory emblems, built to OEM specs. $10 per piece, three hundred piece minimum. One time tooling and setup $1000.
Question #3- What are the steps to having my emblem created? You ll start with showing us your artwork, and we ll talk about your favorite emblem styles, and how the emblem will be used. Based on this, I ll present you with ideas that I feel will best accomplish your goals. Upon your approval, I ll get started 1-The 3D Design- Most important here is you have complete control of the design process. The render looks just like the finished piece, and can be tweaked if desired. Once you are comfortable with the 3D design, we will move on to step 2. Our motto- No surprises is a good thing! 2- The Tooling- A-I create the master, using hand carving, fabrication, and/or rapid prototyping B-From the master, a mold is created C-Hot wax is injected into the mold, ready for casting 3-The Production- Cast, assembly and fabrication, polish, and finish process Including chrome plate or other finish, colored resin fill, etc. And finally. the finished emblem! How to Get Started on your Emblem: We'd love to create an emblem for you, send me your artwork. With my 15 years of emblem innovation and your ideas, you and I will come up with some amazing emblems.
