They are built of the finest materials and expert workmanship to provide you with years of reliable service. The Poultry House Sprayer is available with a 500 gal. elliptical tank and either a solid or torsion axle. It is equipped with a PTO powered diaphragm pump, hand gun and a reversable boom The Poultry House Sprayer is designed to clean and disinfect poultry houses with a minumum of passes. The hose reel and hand gun allows the operator to clean confined areas the the trailer cannot access. This manual explains where and how to make necessary adjustments to your sprayer for safe and proper operation. Thoroughly read and understand the contents of this manual before operating your sprayer. If you have questions or do not understand particular items, contact your nearest Wylie Spray Center or call Wylie Manufacturing at (888) 788-7753. Please keep this manual handy to answer questions you may have as they arise. Pay Particular Attention To All Safety Suggestions Their purpose is to assure safe operation of the sprayer and prevent injury or damage to yourself or the unit. 5

Inspection & Setup Inspection & Setup Your Wylie Power Sprayer was manufactured to the highest standards of quality. It is necessary though, to check to make sure that nothing was damaged during shipping. Check bolts and fasteners for tightness, especially lug nuts. Check the pump and plumbing for any signs of damage. Your Wylie Poultry House sprayer was completely assembled at the factory and should not need any additional assembly before use. Attaching Sprayer to Tractor Pin the hitch to the drawbar of the tractor. The elliptical tank sprayer has a height adjustable hitch. Set the hitch so that the trailer is level when attached to the tractor. Do not add any chemical to the spray tank until the sprayer has been checked for proper operation. Failure to do so could result in chemical exposure. Preparing Sprayer for Operation Add about 50 gallons of water to the spray tank. Do not add any chemical until the sprayer has been checked for proper operation. < Suction Ball Valve Bypass Hose > Boom > < Bypass Valve Center Nozzle > Handgun > < Pressure Adjust Agitator > Figure A1 Height Adjustable Hitch The pump is equipped with a PTO drive shaft. Make sure the tractor PTO shaft and drive shaft coupler are compatible. Figure A2 Pump With Drive Shaft Figure A3 Ball Valve Locations Open the suction ball valve located beside the line strainer. (Ball valves are open when the handle is in line with the hose attached to the valve.) Open the agitator ball valve located on the side of the pump. Check for any leaks from the tank to the pump. Any fluid leak on the suction side of the pump will result in an air leak when the pump is started. Each of the spray systems should be checked for leaks and proper operation. The tractor engine should be shut off before attaching the pump to the PTO shaft. Failure to do so could possibly cause serious injury or death. 6

Inspection & Setup Handgun Operation The hose reel is mounted on a 180º swivel. This swivel can be locked in one of five positions or the pins can be pulled to allow the reel to swivel freely. Figure A6 Handgun Open the handgun ball valve as well as the suction and agitator valve. Figure A4 Swivel Hose Reel Mount The Reelcraft reels are equipped with a locking set screw to prevent the reel from unrolling during transport. Loosen the set screw before unrolling the hose. < Suction Ball Valve Handgun > Agitator > < Set Screw Figure A7 Valve Setting for Handgun Operation It is necessary to always start the pump with the bypass valve open as shown in Figure A8. The open bypass valve allows all the fluid to bypass back to the tank with zero pressure. It is possible for the pump to break a head bolt or diaphragm if the pump is started in the pressure mode. Figure A5 Hose Reel Set Screw Remove the handgun from the holder and unroll a sufficienct length of hose. 7

Inspection & Setup Center Cluster Nozzle Open the center nozzle ball valve by the pump and on the center nozzle stand. < Bypass Valve Center Nozzle > < Pressure Adjustment Agitator > Figure A8 Open Bypass Valve Engage the tractor PTO, close the bypass valve, and squeeze the handgun trigger. Check for leaks. If the handgun will not properly pressurize, it may be necessary to adjust the pressure adjustment knob. This can be done with the bypass valve open or closed, but may be easier with the bypass valve open. Loosen the jam nut, turn the adjustment knob clockwise (tighten) to raise the pressure, and tighten the jam nut. Once the handgun operation has been checked, disengage the PTO and close the handgun valve. Figure A9 Open Center Nozzle Valve Open the bypass valve, engage the PTO, and close the bypass valve. As the center cluster nozzle sprays, check for leaks. Disengage the PTO and close the center nozzle valves at the pump and at the nozzle. Center Cluster > Nozzle Disengage the PTO before opening or closing the handgun or boom valves. Failure to do so could cause bodily injury by coming in contact with a rotating PTO shaft. < Center Nozzle Valve Figure A10 Open Center Nozzle Valve 8

Inspection & Setup Spray Boom Unfold the boom to the spray position. Open the boom spray valves. < Boom Valve Boom Valve > < Boom Valve < Boom Valve Agitator > Spray Boom > < Boom Valve Figure A11 Unfolded Spray Boom Open the boom valve at the pump, open the bypass valve, and engage the PTO. Close the bypass valve to pressurize the boom. Check for leaks. Figure A12 Open Boom Valve Disengage the PTO and close the boom valve. Cleaning Strainer Once the sprayer has been checked for leaks, the strainer should be cleaned. Close the suction valve and remove the strainer bowl. Make sure the O-ring is in place on the bowl. Remove the screen and clean. Replace the screen and screw the bowl onto the base. Make sure the O-ring is properly seated. If the O-ring is missing or pinched, air can enter the system and the pump will not be able to pressurize. Closed Suction Valve > Strainer Base > O-Ring > < Screen Strainer Bowl > Figure A13 Cleaning Strainer 9

Operation Operation Add the desired amount of water to the sprayer tank. Add the correct amount of disinfectant or other chemical to the sprayer tank. Read the instructions on the chemical container for details regarding the proper amount of chemical to add. Proper clothing, gloves, face protection and respirator (if needed) must be worn any time chemicals are handled. Failure to do so risks exposure, serious injury and possibly death. Assure the boom and gun valves are closed before starting the pump. Open the agitator valve, open the bypass valve and engage the pump. Close the bypass valve and let the pump run for a few minutes to thoroughly mix the solution. Boom Operation Move the sprayer to the area to be sprayed. Be sure that all people and animals are clear of the spray zone. Unfold the boom into the spray position. The boom can be extended by approximately 24 for extended range. Loosen the set screws and slide it to the desired position. Tighten the set screws. The height of the individual nozzles can be adjusted. Loosen the jam nut and the set screw. Adjust the height of the nozzle bracket as needed and tighten the set screw and jam nut. < Spray Tip < Tip Cap The angle of the spray can be adjusted as well. Loosen the spray tip cap and rotate the spray tip for the desired spray angle. The nozzle body can also be rotated. Loosen the lock bolt and rotate the body as needed. Tighten the lock bolt. The height and angle of the center cluster nozzle can be adjusted similarly to the boom nozzle. Spray Tip > Nozzle Body > < Nozzle Body < Lock Bolt < Nozzle Bracket < Set Screw Figure B2 Spray Nozzle Adjustment < Tip Cap < Lock Bolt < Boom Valve Nozzle Bracket > < Set Screw Center Nozzle Valve > Figure B3 Center Spray Nozzle Adjustment < Set Screw Open the boom and center nozzle valves at the pump. Open the agitator valve as well. < Set Screw Figure B1 Boom in Spraying Position 10

Operation Boom Valve Open > Center Nozzle > Valve Open The Poultry House Sprayer boom can spray to either side by rotating the spray boom. The boom is held in place with poly springs that also act as a breakaway to protect the boom if an obstruction is hit. Agitator > Open Figure B4 Spray Boom Valve Operation Position It is necessary to always start the pump with the bypass valve open. The open bypass valve allows all the fluid to bypass back to the tank with zero pressure. It is possible for the pump to break a head bolt or diaphragm if the pump is started in the pressure mode. Left Side Spray Figure B6 Right Side Spray See page 13 for tip rate charts and additional application information. Check the area to be sprayed for people or non-targeted animals. Failure to do so could cause chemical exposure. Handgun Operation < Pressure Adjustment < Bypass Valve Figure B5 Open Bypass Valve Engage the PTO to start the pump. Close the bypass valve to pressurize the system. Set the tractor throttle for a PTO speed of 540 RPM. If the system does not attain the desired pressure, loosen the jam nut and rotate the pressure adjustment knob clockwise (tighten) to increase the pressure. The boom and center nozzle should be operated at 30-60 psi. See page 13 for a tip rate chart. Pull the sprayer forward at the speed necessary for the desired application. Unroll the handgun hose from the hose reel as shown on page 7-8. Make sure the suction valve is open. Open the handgun valve and agitator valve. Open the bypass valve, engage the PTO, and close the bypass valve. The Hypro Long-Throw trigger gun sprays in a range from a powerful straight stream to a wide angle mist. The rear trigger handle turns the spray on or off. The front handle adjusts the angle of the spray by rotating the handle forward or backward. Pulling the handle back creates a straight stream. Push the handle forward for a wide angle spray. Figure B7 Handle Back -- Straight Handle Forward -- Wide Angle 11

Operation The DP-392 pump operates at a maximum pressure of 725 PSI. The handgun can operate at a high pressure, but the boom should operate at no more than 60 psi. To increase the handgun pressure, loosen the jam nut on the pressure adjustment knob. The bypass valve can be open or closed, but it may be easier to adjust with the bypass valve open. Rotate the pressure adjustment knob clockwise (tighten) to increase pressure. Never point the trigger gun at any part of your body. The high fluid pressure and/or chemical exposure could cause serious bodily injury. Operating Recommendations Be aware of any obstructions, animals or people while spraying. While the boom is equipped with a breakaway to help protect the boom, damage or injury can occur in a collision. < Pressure Adjustment < Bypass Valve Figure B8 Pressure Adjustment If the pressure adjustment does not provide the maximum pressure, partially close the agitator valve. Listed below are several things you should check to maintain trouble free spraying: *Clean pump strainer as needed to maintain adequate flow to the pump. *Clean the tip strainers on the boom tips as needed to maintain proper spray pattern and flow. *Keep the agitator ball valve open while spraying. Maintenance Maintenance Line Strainer Cleaning From time to time it may be necessary to clean the line strainer. The line strainer is located in the hose between the spray tank and the pump. With the tractor turned off, close the ball valve beside the strainer. Unscrew the bowl from the strainer base. Remove and clean the screen. Check for any damage to the screen that would allow debris to get to the pump and nozzles. Empty and rinse the bowl. Replace the bowl and screen. Make sure that the gasket/o-ring that seals the bowl to the base is not lost when cleaning. Open the ball valve before starting the pump. Chemically resistant rubber gloves must be worn when cleaning the line strainer. Failure to do so could result in chemical exposure causing serious injury. Strainer Base > O-Ring > Strainer Bowl > < Screen Closed > Valve Figure C1 Cleaning Line Strainer Cleaning Nozzles While the line strainer usually keeps the system clean, it is possible for foreign matter to clog the trigger gun or boom nozzles. Turn the tractor off before cleaning any nozzles. Wear chemically resistant rubber gloves. To clean the trigger gun nozzle, engage the trigger gun to relieve any pressure. Remove the cap at the end of the barrel to access the tip. The tip should be cleaned with a brush such as a TeeJet tip cleaning brush. Do not use a pocket knife, wire or screwdriver to clear the nozzle. The tip could be damaged, resulting in an improper spray pattern. In order to clean the boom nozzles, remove the nozzle from the stand. Use compressed air to blow debris from the nozzle. Do not use pocket knives, wire or screwdrivers. End of Day Procedure Some disinfectants can be corrosive to the pump if allowed to remain in thepump for extended periods of time. It is best to flush the pump with clean water to prevent pump damage. Add 5-10 gallons of clean water to an empty spray tank. Turn the pump on and apply this flush solution to a safe area. Check the sprayer for any leaks or damaged parts. Repair or replace as necessary. Operation during cold weather may require protecting the sprayer from freeze damage. See the next section for instructions. End of Season Procedure Thoroughly flush the complete system with clean water. Flush the trigger gun as well as the boom nozzles. Dispose of the flush solution by spraying a safe area. Check the chemical container label for any special instructions. To protect the sprayer from freezing, one of two procedures should be followed: draining the system or flushing with anti-freeze solution. Draining the sprayer With the spray tank empty, remove the strainer bowl to drain water from the suction side of the pump. Open the bypass valve so that the pressure drops to zero, then let the pump run without liquids for two minutes. Lay the trigger hose out flat, open the control valve, lock the trigger gun open and allow the water to drain from the gun. Open other lines to allow any water to drain. Flushing with anti-freeze Add a few gallons of anti-freeze solution (such as camper trailer anti-freeze) to the spray tank. Open the valves and start the pump to flush both the trigger gun and boom nozzles. This procedure is the most complete way to protect the sprayer from freezing. Empty the pump as per the instructions above. Complete pump maintenance and repair information is available at: http://www.cds-johnblue.com/dp392-pump-manual.pdf 14
