INTRODUCTION Overview This Binocular Loupe (hereafter called, Loupe) is a medical equipment made for lighting and magnifying the examiner s hand and an affected part of patient up and observing it more clearly during diagnosis or medical treatment. The Loupe is attached with a tough and light Spectacle-type frame (β titanium frame). Because of attaching an illuminator with high illumination, it is possible to perform more distinct observation by adding a magnification and an effect of the illumination simultaneously. The Illuminator of this device is irradiated from the center of the Loupe, so it is capable of providing the observation with no shadow. Power source of Illuminator is Battery pack-type with rechargeable cell batteries. Type of Device Combination with Power source is as follow. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS This instruction manual uses a variety of common symbols and icons to assist you in proper handling and usage of this product, and to warn you of potential hazards to yourself and others. COMMON PRECAUTIONS WARNING Do not apply a strong impact and do not hurl it. It may cause an injury and a trouble. Do not watch the sun directly through the loupe and do not use it under direct sunlight. Otherwise it may cause an injury and a trouble. Do not put it in an unstable nor sloped place, as this may result in a malfunction, a rollover and a trouble. Do not load or press Main body. The balance may be lost and cause a rollover and the injury. Do not place it under direct sunlight, as this result in a fire ignition and a trouble. - 3
Do not use it in places where strap might be rolled in or caught in Otherwise it may cause an injury and a trouble. Never attempt to disassemble or modify it, as this may result in an electrical shock, fire ignition and a trouble. Please use it after completely mounted. Otherwise it may cause an injury and a trouble. CAUTION Do not use it with other devices or parts than standard parts included in this set. Otherwise it may cause a trouble. Do not sterilize. PRECAUTIONS TO POWER SOURCE PART WARNING Do not use in extremely humid nor salty place, nor where the water hangs. Otherwise it may cause an electric shock. Do not use it near the source of flammable gas such as propane gas or the gasoline and mine dust. Otherwise it may cause a fire ignition and an explosion. Do not use the power source cord and accessories other than in the original set. Otherwise it may cause a fire ignition and a trouble. 4. STRUCTURE AND NOMENCLATURE 4.1. 5. HANDLING METHOD 5.1. LOUPE MAIN BODY 5.1.1. How to Wear and Observe 1) Please wear the Loupe in the most fitted position with your forehead and titanium frame, a nose pad. Nose pad position is adjustable by sliding (in the Fig.1 1). You can choose out of 2 different types of nose pad according to your usage (the semicircular pad goes with eyeglasses). In addition, nose pad is bendable to match your nose shape. 2) Please use the attached strap for wearing firmly. Hang the Rubber ring of the Strap to the β frame as shown in the Fig. 1 2 and please adjust it to your favor. Fig. 1 2 1 3) Move the Loupe with the Tilt knob up and down and adjust the suitable position for observing. (Fig. 2 1). (It is possible to insert the attached Silicon tube into the Tilt Knob. Silicon tube is capable of sterilization.you can keep it clean by sterilizing tube. (Tube is not sterilized when delivered.) 4) Please make the Loupe surface and an optic axis become right angled by holding the Rim of Loupe or turning the Tilt knob. (Fig. 2 2). 5) Turn on if illumination is necessary (Fig. 2 3). (Please refer 4.2. for Power source part). 6) Adjust the Light from Illuminator to set on the center of observation field (4 in the Fig. 2) by holding body tube of Illuminator. 7) In order to change the Visual field of diameter please turn the Diaphragm and adjust it (in the Fig. 2 5). Fig. 2 1 5 2 4 3 8) If you want to observe only with the effect of the Illuminator, put the Loupe up by using the Tilt knob (1 in the Fig.3). - 7
9) If you would like to observe without Illuminator, you can put it up (2 in the Fig. 3). Fig. 3 1 2 About the Wiring of the cord: Do not bend the cord with acute angle and not pull it forcibly. Neaten the cord with the Wiring band as needed (Fig. 4). For wearing more comfortably: Use the Nose pad cushion Long use of semicircular pad may cause you uncomfortableness or even pain. In this case, mount nose pad cushion as shown in figure Fig. 5. Fig. 4 Fold the semicircular pad holder In case the nose pad is not well fitted to your nose, please fold the pad holder as shown in Fig. 6. Fig. 5 Please do not bend the Pad holder which was bent once. Otherwise it may break. Fig. 6 5.1.2. How to Replace the Loupe 1) When you take the Loupe off from the main body, please hold the edge of the Tilt knob and the Loupe each in one hand and take off the closest rib (Fig.7). remaining side with both hands and take it off (Fig. 8). 2) When you attach the Loupe again, please follow the action as shown in Fig.7 and Fig.8 in order of reverse. The convex surface of the Loupe becomes the anterior (the side that product name PL-2 is shown) (Fig.9). When you insert the rib of the Loupe into the Loupe fixation part, be sure to push it with finger supporting back of the part to insert. Do not push it in the reverse direction. 5.1.3. How to Use the Shield Shield protects you from splinter or spray of liquid. As it is a disposable-type, please discard it as a medical waste after using and replace it with new one. 1) Reverse the Frame and insert the plug in shield center into the narrow hole of the A part. Place tip of black snap inside, i.e. towards your face. (Fig.10). Direction of the Tip 2) Bend the Snap tip like rolling up the frame and push until the tip is out of the hole (Fig. 11). If the Illuminator s cord is there, please get through the Shield between cord and frame (Fig.12). Fig. 10 3) Tear off the both side s protection sheets. Keep clear without touching by finger on the surface (Fig. 13). 5.2. POWER SOURCE NSI-III The Battery Pack can be used handier either hanging on a belt or carrying in a pocket. 5.2.1. Charging the Battery Charge the batteries in the package. Specifically, check the instruction manual that is attached to battery charger set. Fig. 11 Fig. 12 Fig.13 5.2.2. How to Set the Battery Pull down holder of Battery Pack cover (OPEN indication part) and open the case. Put on the battery with same polarity as shown in the picture then attach a case cover as before. - 9
Recommend to use the attached rechargeable battery only. By using the other batteries such as alkali dry cells, performance of product may be deteriorated, for example shorter lighting duration and so on. 5.2.3. How to Set Illuminator Main Body with Battery Pack Connect Light plug to the Battery jack (an indication mark of OUTPUT ) by picking a black rubber part of the plug up with the finger. There is only one connecting position and by turning a rubber part slightly you can find the proper position easily. When properly connected, a metal ring is locked with the click. To take off a cord, please pick up a metal ring and just pull it up backwards. The metal ring does not come off by twist. Do not twist rubber part, it may damage the connection. 5.2.4. How to Turn the Illuminator on Push the Power Switch and turn the Illuminator on. The illumination brightness can be changed at three photochromic level and possible to check a residual quantity of light by indicator light. Approximate Illumination and the practical illuminating time are as follows. Photochromic Level Illumination at the distance 40 cm, Lx Practical Illuminating Time, hour Approximate remaining minutes to end of practical use (after), min* High 14,000 4 30 Middle 8,500 7 35 Low 4,500 17 50 *The indicator light is green in complete charge condition. But, the practical illuminating time becomes approximately 30, 35 and 50 minutes respectively, green changes to orange. When a practical illuminating time passes, the indicator light turns to red. Then, please charge - 10
immediately, or replace with full charged battery. The light will be still on for another 30 minutes under reduced level and then off. 5.2.5. How to Change the Visual field of Diameter Visual field of diameter can be changed continually by turning the Diaphragm, in case of model which a Diaphragm is equipped. The diameter varies from 48 to 100 mm approximately, in distance 40 cm, but in case of the model with fixed diaphragm it fixed at 100 mm. 5.2.6. About the Middle Switch Middle switch works same as power switch. The Illuminator is turned off or turned on at the selected photochromic level by pushing the middle switch, repeatedly. It is possible to pin the middle switch on clothes, by Middle Switch Clip (attached) for your convenience. When using the Middle Switch Clip, tear off release paper, and stick it on the backside of the middle switch. 5.2.7. How to Turn the Illuminator off Push the Power Switch and turn the Illuminator off. 6. MAINTENANCE 6.1. CLEANING 6.1.1. Lens part Please wipe dirt off with attached cloth or soft cloth tenderly. In case of more dirty condition please use the commercial glass lens cleaner. Do not touch lens with a bare finger at any time and always keep lens clean. 6.1.2. Other parts Wipe with dry cloth or wipe with soft cloth slightly moistened with much diluted natural detergent and wipe dry afterwards. 6.1.3. Terminal parts Wipe the terminal parts with cotton swabs. 6.2. SCREW TIGHTENING If a connection part of the light became loose or a movement of the hinge part is too smooth, please tighten up the screw by a Phillips screwdriver. In case of an idle screw of hinge part, please tighten the screws of both sides by a screwdriver simultaneously. Fasten slowly while observing carefully. 6.3. STORAGE Operating temperature: Range from 10 C to 40 C (50 F to 104 F) - 11
Storage temperature: Range from -20 C to 60 C (-4 F to 140 F) 6.4. SAFEKEEPING AND TRANSPORTATION Keep it in an original case and avoid any pressure or impact. 6.5. DISPOSAL Dispose it according to local garbage rules. 7. TROUBLESHOOTING Please check the following contents when not working properly. If the problem is not solved, stop use and please contact the maker immediately. Contact information is available in the end. 7.1. LOUPE MAIN BODY Problem Possible Causes Solution titanium frame is not fit. The position of a loupe and the light have become low. The Loupe is not come off from the fixed part. The Loupe is not fit in the fixed part. Is there a Nose pad? Is the height of the Nose pad appropriate? Is the pad part not deformed? Does the screw fixing a prop and a light hinge not loosen? Are you not going to pull both sides at the same time? Are you not going to put it on from the reverse side? Set the Nose Pad correctly. Regulate it to the height that is most suitable for. Mold it again to fit with finger. Tighten up the screw until it becomes the favorite strength. Please pull one by one. Put it on in a right direction.. 7.2. POWER SOURCE NSI-III Problem Possible Causes Solution A residual quantity light indicator is not turn on Even residual quantity light indicator is green, not useable long Is the battery put on? Is the polarity of battery right? Are the batteries all charged? To check the battery life time. (The battery is expendable supplies. The old battery, a charge time changes, and lighting time becomes short.) Put the battery on. Insert the battery correctly. Charge the battery. Specifically, please read the instruction manual attached to the battery charger. - 12
A residual quantity light indicator is green, but illuminator does not turn on An illumination is dark A residual quantity light indicator flashes red Is an Illuminator connected to a battery pack in a proper manner? Is a residual quantity light indicator in red and dimming lightening? It could happen by electric circuit short. Connect correctly. Use the battery with full charge. Pull a battery out promptly, and ask it for check. A residual quantity light indicator was turned on for 1-2 seconds, even power source did not turn on An illumination field is uneven An Illuminator becomes hot When replacing the batteries, indicator may flash by release of accumulated electricity. But it is a normal. Is a lens not dirty? Clean the lens. Is Illuminator not obscured Fix the position so that with a cable and other illuminator is not materials? obscured. It is not abnormal. LED generates heat. Temperature may increase to the level that you feel hot by hand touch. - 13
