The federation of Norwegian Industry NORSOK owners jointly goal for the petroleum standardisation: Ensure a satisfactory level of safety. Increase the use of international standards. Reduce the use of special Norwegian requirements Reduce the need for company-specific requirements. Ensure that standards represent cost-effective solutions. Strengthen the competitiveness of the Norwegian continental shelf. 5

The federation of Norwegian Industry The purpose with the Norsok analysis project has been: Evaluate each Norsok standard against the given standardisation goals Priorities and categories standards as follows: to be withdrawn to be proposed as international standards, i.e. ISO and IEC to be retained as Norsok standards However, the final decisions related to each NORSOK standard "destiny will be made in the Sector board petroleum in Standards Norway The recommendation from project has been presented and got general support from all parties in the Board 6
