What is the Onslow Renewable Energy Pilot? Horizon Power is establishing a Renewable Energy Pilot in Onslow, which aims to connect traditional energy sources with solar panels and battery storage systems to maximise the amount of renewable energy in Onslow. As part of the installation of your system, we will install a small box called a Secure Gateway Device, at no cost to you, to provide a remote link to Horizon Power. On rare occasions, Horizon Power may need to use this device to remotely adjust the settings of your solar panel and battery storage systems. This is to ensure we are able to balance energy flow through the network and maintain reliability across the entire town, a key component of the Pilot. This would be a rare occurrence, and based on our studies to date, we expect this to be around 2-5 percent of the time. Rest assured, we will report transparently on any such occurrences.
