TOOLS AND SUPPLIES REQUIRED Socket (8 mm) Ratchet Hex wrench (5 mm) Phillips screwdriver Scissors Isopropyl alcohol Shop towel Torque wrench 1. Refer to the Service Manual to remove the parts. SOCKET SOCKET SEAT COLLAR BELT SOCKET TORQUE CHART Tighten all screws, bolts and nuts to their specified torques. Refer to the Service Manual for the tightening torques of removed parts. Trim the excess ends off the wire ties after attaching them to the wire harnesses. Do not allow the cut part of the wire tie to interfere with another harness or brake hose. Be sure to observe all safety notes and precautions described in the Service Manual while removing and installing the fuel tank. Gasoline is extremely flammable and is explosive under certain conditions. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped. Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where gasoline is stored or where the fuel tank is refueled. 2. Remove the air cleaner cover and pull out the air cleaner case as shown. AIR CLEANER CASE 3. Loosely install the speaker holder on the handlebar as shown. LEFT SPEAKER RIGHT SPEAKER HANDLEBAR AIR CLEANER ELEMENT AIR CLEANER COVER SPEAKER 6 mm SOCKET 4. Loosely install the speaker as shown. Attach the digital amplifier emblem in the positions shown. SOCKET WASHER 3 mm DIGITAL AMPLIFIER EMBLEM Thoroughly clean the area where the digital amplifier emblem will be attached and remove the adhesive backing before attaching. 5 mm SCREWS Loosen 6 mm SH FLANGE (short) WASHER RIGHT SPEAKER DIGITAL AMPLIFIER EMBLEM HOLE LEFT SPEAKER HOLE SPEAKER 2006 American Honda Motor Co., Inc - All Rights Reserved. 08B08-MEA-1000-91 3 of 8
5. Install the bracket on the amplifier unit as shown. 5 mm SCREW 6. Install the amplifier unit as shown. Tighten the upper bolt first, then tighten the lower bolt. AMPLIFIER UNIT BRACKET 6 mm SH FLANGE (long) LEFT MIRROR AMPLIFIER UNIT COLLAR (Save) Align the split in clutch holder with the punch mark. 7. Route the amplifier unit harness as shown. 9. Route the audio harness and connect it as shown. AMPLIFIER UNIT HARNESS SUB CORD TERMINAL Route through the clamp. AMPLIFIER UNIT HARNESS S Secure the amplifier unit harness. 6-PIN WATERPROOF CONNECTORS 8. Route the speaker harness and amplifier unit harness and connect them as shown. SPEAKER HARNESS Route the amplifier unit harness through the clamp. 10. Route each harness as shown. Install the headlight in the reverse order of removal. Refer to the illustration shown below and bundle the harness in the headlight case. Take care not to pinch the harness when installing the headlight. 11. Route the audio harness along the motorcycle frame as shown. Left side 12. Route the audio harness and connect it as shown. Disconnect the motorcycle s 3-pin connector and connect the audio harness between the connectors. WIRE TIE Secure to the motorcycle s harness. Right side WIRE TIE Secure to the motorcycle s harness. MOTORCYCLE S 3-PIN WATERPROOF CONNECTOR HARNESS BOOT Route the audio harness through the harness boot. 3-PIN WATERPROOF CONNECTOR AIR CLEANER CASE 13. Store the connectors in the harness boot. Secure the audio harness. RUBBER Turn down. S Secure the audio harness. HARNESS BOOT Store the connectors in the boot. 14. Attach the clip to the position shown to secure the harnesses. 15. Modify the jack holder as shown. SPEAKER HARNESS SUB CORD TERMINAL SCISSORS Cut out. (Discard) JACK CLIP Secure the speaker harness and audio harness. 16. Insert the audio harness sub cord terminal into the jack holder as shown. Center of handlebar holder. HANDLEBAR SUB CORD TERMINAL Apply isopropyl alcohol to the terminal and insert fully into the jack holder. JACK CAP Close the cap when not in use. 17. Attach the jack holder in the position shown. CLIP Thoroughly clean the area where the clip will be attached and remove the adhesive backing before attaching. 18. Sit on the motorcycle and adjust the speaker so it faces toward you. Tighten the speaker holders securely. Move the handlebar right and left and check that the harnesses are not pinched by components and are not pulled taut. 20. Connect the sub cord as shown when it is used. Tighten the upper bolt first, then tighten the lower bolt. UPPER LOWER SPEAKER SURFACE SPEAKER Align the center of the speaker with the center of the motorcycle and secure it. SUB CORD JACK 21. Install the clip on the sub cord and attach it to the motorcycle in a way that it does not interfere with riding the motorcycle. 19. Install the removed parts of the motorcycle in the reverse order of removal. CLIP Thoroughly clean the area where the clip will be attached and remove the adhesive backing before attaching. 22. Check the controller, speaker, headlight and the other lights for proper operation.
