In some instances the suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the associates may perform the installation steps in any order to make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining consistent quality.
A. Check Kit Contents 1. Check kit for content and damage. (Fig. A1) B. Vehicle Preparation 1. Remove battery negative terminal. 2. Apply protective covering to vehicle C. Remove Cup Holder insert. 1. Set parking brake. 2. Remove center console bezel. Fig. A1 i. Use panel safe tool. ii. Carefully pry around cupholder insert. (Fig. C1) D. Install Cup holder Lights 1. Orient cup holder assembly as shown. (Fig. D1) Fig. C1 Fig. D1 2. Drill holes for cup holder lights. i. Cut out enclosed paper template labeled xb cup holder. ii. Align template as shown use a punch/ scribe to mark the center of the hole to be drilled. (Fig. D2) Fig. D2 BOTTOM Fig. D3 iii. Drill pilot holes with 1/8 drill bit. iv. Finally drill the pilot hole with a 9/32 drill bit. v. De-burr holes with de-burring tool. 3. Insert Lens from inside of cup holder. (Fig. D3) 4. Firmly press LED assembly into lens. (Fig. D4) 5. 6. Drill hole for i-pod holder. i. Cut out enclosed paper template labeled xb i-pod holder. ii. Align template as shown use a punch/ scribe to mark the center of the hole to be drilled. (Fig. D6) TOP Fig. D7 iii. Drill pilot holes with 1/8 drill bit. iv. Finally drill the pilot hole with a 9/32 drill bit. Fig. D6 v. De-burr holes with de-burring tool. 7. Insert Lens from inside of i-pod holder. (Fig D7) 8. Lamp will be installed when center console is installed. E. Install power Switch 1. Drill hole for switch. i. Trim plastic as shown. (Fig. E1) ii. Cut out enclosed paper xb switch template. iii. Place template so hole drilled will be oriented as pictured. (Fig. E2) iv. Place template in area indicated. Use a punch or scribe to mark center of the hole to be drilled. v. Using a 1/2 drill bit (Unibit or step drill is highly recommended), drill the switch hole. 2. Clean bezel surface to remove grease and wax. i. Wipe the application area clean with alcohol and a clean no-scratch cloth ii. Dry the installation area using a clean, dry, lint free cloth. 3. Insert switch bezel into switch plate. Bend the switch plate slightly to match conture of surface. (Fig. E3) Fig. E1 Fig. E3 Fig. E2
4. Using the pull-tab, remove the tape liner from the back of the switch plate. (Fig. E4) i. Avoid finger contact with the adhesive surface. 5. Using the bezel as a guide, install switch plate/bezel into the previously drilled 1/2 hole. i. Align the printing ILLUMINATION square to the console. (Fig. E5) ii. Once aligned, press down firmly to adhere tape. 6. Install Sleeve to bezel. i. Remove about 5mm from the unpainted portion of the spacer, if an overlay is applied remove an additional 3mm. The white ink end of the sleeve must be installed against the console. 7. Place wires as shown. (Fig. E6) Fig. E4 Fig. E6 Fig. E5 F. Remove forward console 1. Remove shift bezel i. Remove knob by turning counter clockwise. (Fig. F1) ii. Pry open boot retainer and slide boot upwards. (Fig. F2) iii. Remove center bezel disconecting any connectorss. (Fig. F3) 2. Slide lower section forward. Fig. F1 Fig. F2 i. Disconnect auxillary power lead. (Fig. F4) ii. Remove lower section from vehicle. Fig. F3 Fig. F4
G. Install harness 1. Lay out harness as shown and identify connectors. (Fig. G1) LED PW LED 2. Bulk of harness will reside under forward console. SW 3. Locate power. i. Locate auxiliary power connector in center of forward bezel ii. Install T-taps in staggered fashion. (Fig. G2) 4. Attach harness to power. Fig. G1 ipod CH SB i. Black wire on harness to wt/blk, connector lead. ii. White wire on harness to grey, connector lead. 5. Route switch leads and cupholder lead under carpet towards center console. (Fig. G3) Fig. G2 Fig. G3 6. Replace lower half of center console, make sure the switch and cupholder leads are routed as shown. (Fig. G4) 7. Attach Y adapter to harrness. 8. Route leads goint to rods to the left and right of center console. 9. Reinstall lower section i. Reconnect auxiliary power connector. (Fig. G5) ii Gently press insert into place 10. H. Install Light Guide 1. Install Drivers side plastic mount. i. Attach U nut and catamount to air ducts as shown (Fig. H1) White Reflector Fig. H2 2. Attach LED Module to light guide, orientreflector towards top. (Fig. H2) 3. Install the light guide using 1/4 wire ties. i. Feed the wire ties into the plastic mount. (Fig. H3) ii The light guide assemblies should be orientated with the white reflector at the top, the LED modules positioned toward the center of the vehicle. iii. Fully tighten the wire ties and cut off excess. iv. The light guide can be re-oriented as desired. 4. Connect LED module to harness and reinstall panel. (Fig. H4) 5. Install passenger side light guide. i. Locate tabs indicated as shown. 6. Install the light guide using 1/4 wire ties. i. Feed the wire ties into tabs. feed the ties into the plastic mounts orienting the head towards the front of the vehicle. Fig. H1 Fig. H3 Fig. H4 Reflector end ii. Insert the light guide assemblies into the ties. (Fig. H5) iii The light guide assemblies should be orientated with the white reflector at the top, the LED modules positioned toward the center of the vehicle. iv. Slide light assembly into cable tie and tighten securely. (Fig. H6) 7. Connect LED module to harness. (Fig. H7) 8. Secure LED module lead as shown. (Fig. H8) 9. Reinstall panel. I. Post Installation 1. Reinstall interior. 2. Re-attach negative battery terminal, torque to 36 inch pounds. 3. Clean Light Guides with window cleaner and a non-scratch cloth. 4. Cycle test the system with the key in the ACC or ON position. The cycle may start from any step below but should cycle in this order. i. All lights off. ii. Cup holder lights on only. iii. All lights on. iv. Interior Light on only. v. Back to step i. 5. The switch should be cycled to step i (all lights off) for shipment. 6. Place information card in glove box.
SECTION III -Functional Verification Check: Single Unoperational Module Look for: Full engagement of affected LED module to LED wire harness pigtail connector. Light guide inserted incorrectly (wrong end) No Operational Modules Full engagement of all LED module to LED wire harness pigtail connectors. Power connection. Ground connection Switch connections Blown light kit fuse. (2 amp located under center console) Blown shift console illumination fuse (see vehicle owners manual for amperage and location.).
IPOD TEMPLATES 9/32 drill TOP TOP/BOTTOM indicates the top/bottom of the part when installed in vehicle. CUPHOLDER 9/32 drill 9/32 drill BOTTOM SWITCH FRONT 9 2 INCHES
