Suzuki DR-Z 400 S (2002-2004) Evolution Exhaust System
Suzuki offers two versions of the DR-Z 400: S and E. The more stripped-down E version is essentially an MX bike, while the dual purpose S version is intended for enduro. Both versions are excellent handling high-performance machines which will not disappoint off-road enthusiasts. Akrapovic has developed an EVOLUTION complete exhaust system for the 400S which will radically change both the sound and performance of your Suzuki s engine. ABOUT AKRAPOVIC EVOLUTION SYSTEMS: The EVOLUTION system is the flagship of the Akrapovic line. It is a complete replacement for the stock system. This system is an Offroad system with a different appearance from the Road system, as it has to satisfy all the conditions of off-road riding and the construction specifics of off-road bikes. The main difference is the different shape of the muffler, especially the outlet cap. The outer sleeve is made entirely of titanium, as is the interior of the muffler. The link pipe is also of titanium and is conical in form, which on the basis of testing provides the most suitable flow of exhaust gases. The muffler and link pipe are welded together to form a single piece. This is attached to the motorcycle using a high-quality Akrapovi_ dual carbon-fiber clamp which is designed to perform its function flawlessly. Description The stock system includes a heat shield for the legs. The Akrapovi_ EVOLUTION system for the Suzuki DR-Z 400 is designed so that the stock heat shield can be remounted. Measurements of the EVOLUTION system for the Suzuki DR-Z 400 S: power: if the Slip-On system shows a significant performance increase, the EVOLUTION system offers even better results. The increase over the stock figures starts at the very beginning of the power curve and remains extremely constant throughout the entire rpm range. This indicates the excellent design of the Akrapovi_ system. At 7600 rpm the engine delivers the rear wheel 34.8 HP. The max. increased horsepower is 3 HP, which is shown in the overrev range at 8600 rpm. torque: the torque curve is also a winner. Extra torque will be very welcome for this slightly smaller displacement engine in the 450 cc class. Like the power curve, the increase in the torque curve is exceptionally constant and is always at the rider s disposal with no surprises. Akrapovi_ exhaust systems are designed to provide more than just increased performance. There is also the aesthetic factor. The EVOLUTION system looks particularly good on the lines of the DR-Z. And since off-road bikes are very specific and overall weight is extremely important, this factor should be considered for all after-market components. Installing the Akrapovi_ EVOLUTION system will give you a weight savings of 2.52 kg, nearly half the weight of the stock system. The sound of the exhaust note will also be clearly different to everyone in the vicinity. The front part of the EVOLUTION exhaust system consists of the header tube, which like the link pipe is conical. It is also made of race-proven titanium. The connection between the back section - the muffler and link pipe - and the header tube is a free-floating joint held together with a high-quality silicon shielded tensioning spring.
