INSTALLATION 4. Remove the two bolts under the glove box. Customer Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by do-it-yourselfers. 1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio and navigation system (if equipped), then write down the audio presets. 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. 3. Remove the passenger s dashboard under cover (four clips and two pins). 2 STOPS GLOVE BOX 2 BOLTS 871507AR 5. Open and remove the glove box (two stops). 6. 7. Remove the inside cover from the front console pocket (two tabs). SHIFT LEVER S or 2 POSITION FRONT CONSOLE POCKET 10. Apply masking tape to the instrument panel as shown, and remove the meter panel (one selftapping screw, and 11 clips, and unplug the vehicle connectors). METER PANEL MASKING TAPE 2 TABS INSIDE COVER 8. Lower the tilt lever, then pull the steering wheel toward you. 5202130T CONNECTOR CONNECTOR (If equipped.) SELF-TAPPING SCREW 11 CLIPS 871508AR SHOP TOWEL COMBINATION SWITCH 11. Apply masking tape to the instrument panel as shown. Remove the center panel (two bolts, 11 clips, an aspirator hose, and unplug the vehicle connectors). 12. Pull the weatherstrip off in the area shown. FRONT PILLAR 14. Pull the weatherstrip off in the area shown. And remove the right front pillar trim (two clips). 4-door vehicle: PIN 2 CLIPS RIGHT FRONT PILLAR TRIM CLIP FRONT PILLAR TRIM RUBBER MALLET (Strike perpendicularly.) CLIP WEATHERSTRIP RIGHT FRONT PILLAR TRIM WEATHERSTRIP 871510AR 2-door vehicle: 871511AR 13. Push the clip into the vehicle side by striking the top of the right front pillar trim in the area marked SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG with a rubber mallet perpendicularly to the pillar. 15. Remove the cap from the right sunvisor (four retaining tabs). 19. Pull the weatherstrip off, then remove the right kick panel (two clips). Remove the right sunvisor (two T25 TORX screws, and unplug the vehicle connector, if equipped). 17. Remove the sunvisor holder. Turn the holder 90, then pull it out. 18. Remove the right front door sill trim (three tabs, five clips, and five hooks). Installing the XM Radio Unit 20. 21. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the vehicle panel in the area shown. Attach the pad to the vehicle panel. 4-door vehicle: Skip step 22. 2-door vehicle: Perform step 22. 23. Using one flange bolt, one turn nut, and one washerscrew, secure the XM radio unit and bracket to the vehicle stay and to the vehicle panel. XM RADIO 871519AR PAD 871517AR 22. 2-door vehicle only: Whille wearing eye protection, drill through the dimple in the vehicle panel with a 3 mm drill bit, and then a 8 mm drill bit. Wrap tape around the drill bits 10 mm from the end as shown 10 mm (0.4 in.) DRILL BIT DUCT TAPE PANEL DRILL DIMPLE 3 mm and then 8 mm DRILL BITS 871518AR 2010 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Routing the Antenna Cable 24. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the area shown on the inside of the front window. INSIDE 26. Attach masking tape to the location shown on the outside of the windshield. OUTSIDE MASKING TAPE 6 mm (0.24 in.) 3 mm (0.1 in.) Align with end of the masking tape. 10 mm (0.4 in.) 5 mm (0.2 in.) COVER SEAL ADHESIVE BACKING FRONT WINDOW 4 ADHESIVE BACKINGS 871520AR 25. Remove the adhesive backings from the antenna, and attach the antenna to the location shown. Apply sufficient pressure to completely contact. 871521AR 27. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the area shown on the outside of the front window. 28. 29. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the A- pillar in the areas shown. Route the antenna cable down along the passenger s A-pillar. Using six cushion tapes, secure the antenna cable to the A-pillar panel. NOTE: Do not attach the cushion tapes to the vehicle holes, pay attention to the orientation of the cushion tapes. 33. Plug the antenna cable 1-pin connector and the bus cable 14-pin connector into the XM radio unit. 6 CUSHION TAPES PASSENGER S A-PILLAR HOLES (Do not attach the cushion tapes.) XM RADIO 1-PIN CONNECTOR 14-PIN CONNECTOR 871524AR 34. Attach the other halved piece of EPT sealer to the antenna cable as shown. 30. With scissors, cut one EPT sealer in half. 871522AR HARNESS WIRE TIE DASHBOARD STAY BRACKET HOLE BUS EPT SEALER Cut in half. WIRE TIES WITH CLIPS EPT SEALER (1/2) XM RADIO BRACKET HOLE 871525AR HARNESS EPT SEALER (1/2) BRACKET 871523AR 31. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the vehicle bracket in the area shown. Attach one halved piece of EPT sealer to the vehicle bracket. 32. Route the antenna cable down to the XM radio unit. 35. Using two wire ties with clips, secure the antenna cable and the bus cable to the bracket holes as shown. 36. 37. Route the bus cable up along the antenna cable. Using two wire ties, secure the bus and antenna cables to the vehicle harness. 40. Using one wire tie, secure the bus cable to the vehicle harness in the area shown. GLOVE BOX OPENING AUDIO OPENING HARNESS WIRE TIE WIRE TIES BUS BUS HARNESS 871526AR CONNECTOR 871528AR 38. In the glove box opening, route the bus cable along the vehicle harness and towards the audio unit opening. 41. Bundle up the excess antenna cable as shown, and secure it with the two wire ties installed in step 39. HARNESS Bundle up the antenna cable. ABOUT 30 mm (1.8 in.) WIRE TIES (Loosely install.) 871527AR 39. Using two wire ties, loosely install the bus cable to the vehicle harness. If the vehicle you re working on is equipped with a CD Changer, go on to step 42; otherwise, go to step 44. 42. Plug the 2-port bus cable connectors in the two bus cables. Audio Unit for 2-door vehicle AUDIO S or 2-PORT 2-PORT 2 EPT SEALERS Navigation Unit 5801010H 43. Using two EPT sealers, wrap the two plugged connectors. 44. Plug the bus cable connector into the audio unit. Audio Unit for 4-door vehicle 871530AR NAVIGATION AUDIO or 2-PORT 871129AH or 2-PORT 871531AR 2010 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 45. Plug the vehicle connectors into the center panel, and reinstall the center panel. CENTER PANEL CONNECTORS 47. Check that all wire harnesses are routed properly and all connectors are plugged in. 48. Reinstall all removed parts. 49. Connect the negative cable to the battery and check operation of all lights and other electrical accessories. 50. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped), and reset the radio station presets. 51. Reset the clock on vehicles without navigation. 52. Check the operation of the XM radio system according to the vehicle s owner s manual. BOLTS (Reuse.) 5420071H 46. Replace the old clip on the right front pillar trim with a new one.
