Working principle Motor voltage is controlled by means of a phase cut principle. Two thyristors in each phase perform the power switching, enabling the starter to handle high starting torque and frequent starts/stops. Current transformers measure the motor current providing feedback for constant current control of motor starting, and also for numerous motor and application protection functions.
