In order to filter contaminations effectively and efficiently out of plastics waste, in case of the BritAS filter, the filter fabric is fully-automatically changed. Thus, the regranulate quality remains constantly high and the contamination is discharged out of the machine with a very low loss of melt. By an intermediate container for the melt, the upstream extruder is permanently running. Continuous melt flow through the screen. Reaching the adjustable limit pressure in front of the screen: The fully-automatic screen change is started. 1 2 The valve will be closed - the space in front of the screen is unpressurized. The accumulator piston is moved downwards by the plastics melt and the buffer volume is increased. The wedges are opened parallel and the screen belt fixing is released. ~ 120 sec. ~ 18 sec. 6 Via transport rolls, the screen belt is guided until there is clean screen mesh in the filter zone again. With an adjustable speed, the accumulator piston is moving upwards and the material quantity, which was accumulated during the screen change is dosed. If the accumulator piston has reached the upper end position, the screen change procedure is finished. 5 The valve will be opened - there is access again for the melt to the filter zone. 4 The wedges will be closed - the screen belt is fixed and sealed again. 3
