Remove the rear cargo and sub floor from the cargo area. 2. Connect the ground wire ring terminal on the end of the longest wire to the body of the car at the factory ground point between the fuse box and the battery. Fig. 1 3. Connect the power wire ring terminal on the wire with the fuse holder on it to the car s fuse box main lug. Fig. 2 Fig. 1 Fig. 2 77KICK21AB 9/19/2008 Page 1 of 6
4. Run the rest of the harness along the bottom of the spare tire well next to the factory wiring and over to area behind the lower rear seat cushion. Secure with wire ties Fig. 3 and 4 Fig. 3 Fig. 4 There are two different options for connection of the signal input wires in the wire harness. For vehicles equipped with the Kicker Livin Loud audio system continue with step 5. For all other vehicles proceed to step 6 5. For vehicles equipped with the Kicker Livin Loud audio system from the factory you should supply input signal to the amplifier by simply connecting the harness that used to plug into the factory subwoofer, to the male four pin connector of the harness you just installed. In addition you will need to bundle and secure the extra input wire which would normally run to the dash of the car. The extra input wire can be tucked under the rear seat so that it is not seen. Fig. 5 Fig. 5 77KICK21AB 9/19/2008 Page 2 of 6
6. For vehicles not equipped with the Kicker system from the factory, you will need to connect the long input wires to the left front door speaker wires. Begin by removing the front and rear sill plates along the bottom of the driver s side doors by prying up with a panel removal tool. Fig. 6 7. Remove the two phillips screws securing the bottom of the B pillar post cover to allow wire routing behind the panel. Fig. 7 Fig. 6 Fig. 7 8. Run the input wires around the edge of the rear seat and along the bottom of the door openings towards the dash. Fig. 8 9. Using a panel removal tool gently pry the trim piece loose between the driver s side front door and the end of the dash. Fig. 9 Fig. 8 Fig. 9 77KICK21AB 9/19/2008 Page 3 of 6
10. Using a Phillips screwdriver remove the two screws securing the dash panel below the steering column. One screw is located next to the door opening and one along the bottom next to the hood release lever. Fig. 10 and 11 Fig. 10 Fig. 11 11. Gently pull the lower dash panel loose to release the metal fasteners. 12. Leave the parking brake cable attached and swing the panel to the side. 13. Locate the left front door speaker wires coming from the large connector above the parking brake. The wire colors are gray with a yellow stripe and gray with a purple stripe. Fig. 12 14. Install one of the self stripping t-tap connectors on to each wire. Lay the wire in the open channel, fold the connector body over and squeeze with a pair of pliers until connector snaps shut. Fig. 13 Fig. 12 Fig. 13 77KICK21AB 9/19/2008 Page 4 of 6
15. Connect the subwoofer harness input wires to the t-tap connectors. The green wire (positive) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the gray wire with the yellow stripe in the vehicle. The brown wire (negative) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the gray wire with the purple stripe in the vehicle. Fig. 15 Tip: Once these connections have been made you might want to test the wire with an inexpensive test-tone generator to verify you have the right wires. 16. Replace all previously removed parts in reverse order. 17. With the rear seat in the down position slide the subwoofer assembly into place as shown in Figure 18. 18. The upper brackets hook over the metal bars that the rear seat backs latch on to. Find the predrilled holes in the cabinet and line the brackets up. Secure both of the upper brackets using the supplied #8X1 screws. Fig. 14 19. Install one of the 1 rubber bumpers using the supplied #8X2 screws in the location indicated by the white ring on each bracket. Fig. 15 Fig. 14 Fig. 15 77KICK21AB 9/19/2008 Page 5 of 6
20. The lower bracket attaches to the studs behind the lower seat cushion. Remove the 18mm nut from the right stud and install the lower brackets over the studs. The right bracket will mount to the enclosure slightly higher because it has to be installed over the factory bracket. 21. Find the predrilled holes in the cabinet and secure the lower brackets using the supplied #8x1 screws. Fig. 16 22. Reinstall the factory nut and the supplied nut and washer on the studs and tighten to 42 ft. lbs. Fig. 17 Fig. 16 Fig. 17 23. Connect the four pin connectors of the harness to the subwoofer and secure the connectors to the brackets by pressing the plastic retainers into the holes under the foam. 24. Fold the rear seat up to lock the subwoofer assembly in to place. 25. Install the two 30 amp fuses into the fuse holders. Fig. 18 77KICK21AB 9/19/2008 Page 6 of 6
