This is motivated by the DC nature of most home appliances, and also the DC output of many renewable technologies. With the advances in power electronics technologies, the monthly power consumption of a residence can be greatly reduced, and as a result, system costs associated with the acquisition of a renewable system can be reduced by increasing the efficiency of each individual appliance through the use of a DC supply. Furthermore, completely operating a residence from renewable sources increases the reduction of CO2 emissions from the residential sectors. Energy can be generated on-site usually through a combination of energy producing technologies like Solar and Wind while reducing the overall use of energy by Generating-Transporting and Consuming DC Energy directly. While using DC based home appliance like Lighting, Fan, TV, Refrigerator, Air-conditioning will reduce the loss of energy due to conversion from AC to DC as most of the appliances used in houses are of DC nature. The zero-energy design principle is becoming more practical to adopt due to the increasing costs of traditional fossil fuels and their negative impact on the planets. Benefits of using DC Directly instead of AC Most of the home devices are DC in nature and hence using DC current reduces the conversion loss from AC to DC As AC grid source is used and every device comes with rectifier to convert AC to DC and hence the manufacturing cost of the devices will reduce. Due to advance technology in the field of DC every device consumes very low power compared to AC with same efficiency. A DC system requires only two conductors as compared to three for AC system. A DC system has no inductance as a result the voltage drop in DC system is less than that of AC system for same load and sending end voltages and hence a better voltage regulation. A DC system has no skin effect so we can utilize entire cross section area of the line conductor. A DC system requires less insulation than an AC system because of less potential stress for same working voltage. Absence of capacitance in DC system leads to less power loss because there will not be charging and discharging of capacitance. DC system reduces the amount of resistance in the line. DC system has the ability to transform voltage into various levels. Use of non-conventional Energy like Wind and Solar reduce the Carbon emission in the atmosphere.

DC Home Uninterrupted Power (DHUP) Solutions A DC Home Uninterrupted Power solution (DHUP), converts solar energy into electricity and provides a comfortable level of illumination in one or more rooms of a house. There are several DHUP models featuring one, two, or four CFLs and Mobile Charging point. The system could also be used to run a DC fan or a 12-V DC television.
