Hawthorne, New Jersey A Small Town Atmosphere Hawthorne was originally part of the now-defunct Manchester Township, which was later subdivided to create Hawthorne, Haledon, North Haledon, Prospect Park, Totowa and most of the First Ward of Paterson. The Borough of Hawthorne was incorporated from portions of Manchester Township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 24, 1898. SoCal8s has selected this 850CSi belonging to Manny Pinzoni (AKA M8CD068 & Topgear ) one of our Bimmer and Club e31 Forum Members for our August 2013 Car of the Month Manny s s Story Manny is one of our Bimmer Forum 8 members who is an R&D Scientist in Ardsley, NY. He is developing and testing new flame retardants to make our life a bit safer, but he also works very hard by raising money for the Memorial Sloan Cancer Center in New York by running 42.2km marathons on his free weekends. After the death of one of his close family members from cancer in 2006, Manny decided to help fight this deadly disease by putting on his running shoes and run in the 2006 New York City Marathon. While training, he also spends time speaking out about cancer awareness as well as raising close to $5,000 to help cancer victims. 3
Question & Answers Q: What made you pick the 8 series over other BMW models? A: The 850 CSi is a True BMW ICON... Styling, styling, and styling! The 850CSi is certainly the most elegant of all M models. The gentle flowing lines and the defined silhouette extends smoothly from the t rear of the car along to the harmoniously shaped tail. The dream of driving a true ICON super machine is when you are behind the wheel el of a CSi. Q: What is it about the 8 you enjoy most? A: HP, huge amount of Torque, Super fast... plus the M-M V12... and its striking foldaway headlamps......very, very, very sexy car indeed. Q: What do you enjoy about owning your car? A: Driving, driving and driving. The already legendary BMW twelve- cylinder engine and the 5.6 litters give it a super car status around a the world. The four tail pipes give an added touch of power and beefiness to the muscular sports coupe an awesome beast. The luxurious interior and strict functionality make it an unmistakable true work of art. 4

Q: Where did you buy your car? A: I bought the car from a private collector a couple of years agoa Q: How long were you looking for the CSi? A: I was looking for 10 years and my best guide was BUYING An E31-How to Find the Right 8 Series. Q: What color did you want? A: Red or black were my colors, but condition and low miles was the key to buying it. Q: What other cars have you owned in the past? A: Besides my 1994 850CSi, I have owned several BMW s. BMW 328, BMW 540, 2000 BMW M5, 2003 BMW M5, and a 2005 BMW X5-Manual. 5
Question & Answers Q: What special information would you like readers to know about the 8? A: It s s now 20 years old and a true BMW ICON Chief Designer Mr. Claus Luthe called it the 8 Wonder Of The World. I think of my CSi as the most beautiful and stylish BMW ever built, without a doubt. The Chief Designer, Mr. Claus Luthe (1932-2008) 2008) did a spectacular job. We all miss him. When it was introduced at Frankfurt in 1989, it was leading edge technology: First to use a Local Area Network (LAN) in an automotive application. First in the world to have a 6-speed 6 manual transmission mated to a 12 cylinder engine. First BMW Coupe to fully utilize "fly-by by-wire" for the accelerator. 20 years later, it is still given recognition, appreciation, admiration, and respect. People around the world think of the 8 as a stunner and the most marvelous dream machine ever built. Some people recognize it as*** ***The The E31*** ***The The 840*** ***The The 850*** ***and and The M8..But I just want to remember it as the BMW true E31 ICON. 6

A great time, incredible people and lots of fun memories. BMW 2000 M5. I sold this one to buy the 2003 M5 red. I got two speeding tickets in Connecticut. My wife was not too happy about it. 7
Running for a Cancer Cure The Marathon Runner: Manny has run in the annual New York City Marathon (42.195 km/26.219 mi) course through the five boroughs of New York City. It is one of the largest marathons in the world with over 40,000 runners each year. He has also participated in the Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago Marathons, which are among the pre-eminent, eminent, long-distance annual running events in the United States. The NYC Marathon is only one of the Major World Marathons that he participates in for his charity cause, the Sloan Cancer Center of NY. Just recently, Manny participated in the Tokyo, Japan Marathon to compete and raise money for his cancer cause. One of our Own Doing His Best to Support a Cause Manny Pinzoni After running the N.Y.C Marathon in 2006 and 2007, he continued to raise money by running the 2008 Boston Marathon, 2009 Chicago Marathon, 2010 Berlin Marathon, 2011 London Marathon and his latest accomplishment -- the 2012 New York City Marathon last year. Manny stated that, Making the decision to compete in these marathons was a big challenge physically for me as well as time away from my family (Joan and Kevin). However, I know that any challenges I faced in completing these personal goals are put into perspective when I consider what people with cancer face every day. I know that doctors and researchers all over the world are working on clinical trials that have the potential to increase the survival rates of everyone with cancer. In recent years, with the help of cash donations, the overall survival rate of children and adults with cancer has increased significantly.
