I-VUE Innovative Valve Monitoring The I-VUE, a valve sensor designed and manufactured by Sense, a leader in electronics and sensing technology addresses modularity, simple local position set up and diagnostics. Equipped with a precise friction free tracking system, and advance electronics, the I-VUE is activated and calibrated through hands free magnetic buttons. With additional standard features such as bright LEDs, local visual indicator, low power solenoid and backed by a two year warranty, plant personnel may now specify the most compact and complete smart valve monitoring system for diaphragm valves. Highly Visible LEDs Open and close position highly identified, which can seen from nearly every angle on a skid. Valve Position The LED will show the valve position, lighting in GREEN, when the valve is OPEN, or RED for CLOSE position. Open Optional Visual Local Indicator Even in power failure the valve position can be seem through the optional visual local indicator. A flag operated by a spring, appears within the transparent cover, regardless of the shaft travel for all valve sizes. Closed The most compact and complete automation system for diaphragm valves Self Calibration Settings All the smart sensor needs is VDC and the magnetic key. This device will automatically activate and deactivate the solenoid until the precise open and close position is detected. This calibration eliminates cover removals to set the limit switches, tools and monitoring devices that can only be set from the control room. Digital Display for Intelligent Diagnostic Also new are the intelligent diagnostics displayed. This unique feature shows all alarm codes, leading to timely and immediate correction or indicating a tendency of some future problem. The display also helps the user to configure all the parameters of the sensor. Alarm Preventive Maintenance The I-VUE was also developed, thinking about how to prevent malfunction of the valve, by wear of mechanical parts. To help on this you can set the number of actuator cycles and when this value is reached, an alarm is generated, allowing preventive maintenance of the actuator or valve parts. Measuring the Lifetime This feature makes it easy to monitor the actuator / valve lifetime, because it indicates the total number of cycles regardless of preventive maintenance. Alarm of Mechanical Problems The sensor has a time needed for opening and closing the valve. If significant changes occur at this time, beyond the limits programmed from 0% to 0% (Cycle Time), an alarm will be generated and showed on the display or sent to the PLC, in the versions for industrial networks. Another mechanical problem is related to the shaft displacement. The sensor can also generate an alarm individually programmed from 0% to 0% for open position and from 0% to 0% for closed position (Tolerance Alarm). IP High degree of protection against liquids penetration.

Standard Features Visual Local Indicator Digital Display Extra Bright LEDs Touch Less Position Setting Targets M Connector Mounting Process Optional Low Power Solenoid Valve with MO I Module STS Module

Operating Principle The friction free operating principle is based on a non contact detection of the actuator valve movement. An electronic circuit converts the variation of the electromagnetic field in a signal that is proportional to the displacement of the sensor internal circuitry. With its sophisticated electronics the I-VUE detects movements up to 0. mm with high resolution of bits. Touch Less Magnetic Buttons The sensor is equipped with magnetic buttons, which provide greater protection degree, making the sensor more immune to liquid penetration than if it was equipped with mechanical buttons. The buttons allow the user to configure all functions of the sensor and help prevent unauthorized people from changing settings, because they needed to know the proper sequence to push it and the magnetic polarization of these buttons. Magnetic Keychain The I-VUE sensor is supplied with a magnétic keychain which has two magnetic poles "N" north and "S" for South. To activate the buttons, just approach the magnetic keychain with the correct polarity of the magnetic target and observe the indication by the LED that will light in red. North Pole Sensitive N South Pole Sensitive S North Pole Sensitive N Self Calibration Setting The I-VUE sensor has an unique automatic self calibration, activated holding the magnetic key chain for more the s over N. The sensor will run the self calibration process, regardless of any connection to the control system (PLC or Industrial Network), making the setup process, very fast and efficient. The sensor will active the solenoid with controls the actuator in consecutive cycles, to learn the open and close position according to the shaft displacement. Solenoid Valve Override If the sensor is assembled with a optional solenoid valve, it can be forced just hold the magnetic keychain for seconds, with "N" pole near "N" magnetic button, and that is it. To de-energize repeat the same process. It is also possible to force the solenoid by the manual override actuator on the valve body.

Configuration Password The sensor configuration can be protected by a password, preventing an unauthorized person to modify its parameters. This password can be or not defined by the main configuration menu. Sleep Mode "Save Energy" Although display and signaling LEDs are low power, the settings menu allows them to be switched off if there is no magnetic actuation of buttons in order to save energy or where the signaling does not make difference for the system operation. After the selected time (from min to min), the LEDs and display goes off. The return of signaling occurs if the sensor generates any alarm, if any of the magnetic buttons were activated or if the sensor receive a command from PLC. Note! in case of alarm, the LED over "N" magnetic button continues flashing in green / red. Valve Open Closed Time Alarm The I-VUE sensor has a clever feature that "learns" during the self calibration the time to open and close the valve. When this time changes more then the limit pre-programmed, generating an alarm that indicate a trend of abnormality like these following: Compressed Air (pressure, leak, connection, fences, etc.); Mechanical Wear (bushings, gaskets, axles, seats, springs, guides, etc.); Arising from process (corrosion, fouling, composition and viscosity) Note: Of course if the process has a lot of variability, or variation in the pressurized air system, or use various fluids, which make different time of opening / closing, you can increase or decrease the percentage variation used by the alarm, or even inhibit their operation. Digital Display Indication The display is the main portal of communication for both users and technicians who install the product for the first time or in its maintenance. Through the main menu it is possible to set what the display will show during the normal operation: worked days, partial counter, total counter (life time) or valve position. Days Worked Partial Counter. - Alarm Indication: The display shows the alarm codes per seconds and the LEDs over the "N" magnetic button stays blinking in green/ red indicating that there is something wrong. The user can see any time the alarm code in the display simply hold the magnetic keychain with the North pole "N" near the "N" magnetic button that the display will show the alarm codes per seconds. IMPORTANT! In cases of the sensor generates the alarms,,, 8 or 9 the two outputs assume the logic level "" and the alarm is sent to the PLC. Total Counter Valve Position Código PNP AS-Interface DeviceNet AL AL AL AL AL AL AL 7 AL 8 AL 9 AL 0 AL PNP output is short circuited ( or ) Alarm of partial cycle counter Alarm of worked days Alarm of clock Alarm of open and closed time Solenoid Commnand Stroke out of range Not expected position change Short circuit on solenoid coil Damaged coil Alarm of internal temperature AL - AL AL - - Sensor with duplicate address Sensor not addressed AL - Power supply is out of range

Valve Actuator Cycle Counters The display can show the numbers of cycles performed by the assemble valve / actuated. The sensor has two counters: Partial Counter Assist in preventive maintenance, allowing the technician to set on individual alarm, to advise when is time to replace moving parts, like (diaphragms, gaskets, seals, stops and so on). After maintenance the counter can be reseted and a new number of cycles can be set to the next preventive maintenance. Counter Notation The display uses engineering notation (0 BASE) to indicate the number of cycles, i.e.: XY*0 Z XY*EZ Indication Notation for Cycles Numbers 0E 0 * 0 0 X 000 0.000 cycles E * 0 X 00.00 cycles E * 0 X 000 0.000 cycles Mechanical Drawings Total Counter "Life Time" It's a grand total counter, i.e., this count is not reset when the partial counter is cleaned, even if you reset several times. The grand total was designed to indicate the total number of cycles independent of all partial maintenance, even after several resets of the partial counter and seeks to identify the lifetime of the system (valve / actuator). Its maximum capacity is 99.0 cycles, and can be reset only by the main menu in order to monitor a new valve, or for a relocation of the sensor to another valve. mm mm Target Sensor 0 0 mm 8, M mm Ø 70mm 0mm Ø 70mm x Optional adapt disc. Vdc PNP Version The discrete PNP electronic output sensor is intended to replace the basic mechanical switches, subject to failures of contact, wear and change from the point of starting. Output aims to indicate when the valve is open, and sends this signal to the PLC input card. Operation signaled by valve position indicator lighting in green. The output indicates that the valve is closed, and sends this signal to the PLC input card, the valve position indicator lights red for this condition. When the valve is moving from open to close or vice versa the two outputs are de-energize. NO or NC operation can be changed through the main configuration menu. Electrical Connection The sensor uses a standard M connector with pins, pins for DC power supply, another pins for PNP outputs and pin number to receive the command to drive the solenoid valve. Sensor Connector - Male Pin Wire Color Designation brown Vdc ( + ) black PNP blue Vdc ( - ) white PNP yellow solenoid IMPORTANT: The sensor supplied without solenoid valve will has only pins. External Connector - Female Connection with the Control System INPUT I I OUTPUT 0 - PNP + - - PNP - Comando Sol Power Vdc + - Outputs Short Circuit Detection To increase the reliability of the system that incorporates I-VUE sensors, these version is equipped with a capable circuit to detecting a short circuit in the PNP sensor outputs, indicating problems with electrical wiring, connections or input cards of the controller. An alarm is generated by the sensor and indicated through the fault LED ( above "N" magnetic button) and the display will show the alarm code per seconds (AL ).

I-VUE: Analog Output The sensor uses the same principles of E discrete version, but the PNP outputs were replaced by an analog output - 0mA. The visualization features remain almost the same, including the signaling of valve open and closed being, however some points can be slightly different from those adopted by the PLC software. The sensor with analog output can also be used on control valves or even in diaphragm valves where it intends to measure the total travel continuously and thereby the sensor provides an analog signal feedback. Electrical Connection The sensor uses a standard M connector with pins. Solenoid Valve: Sensor Connector - Male External Connector - Female When equipped with the solenoid valve, its control is performance by the PLC, exactly the same as discrete version. You also can still force it by touch less magnetic buttons. Digital Display: Operates normally with all functions, but the position indication and timing of cycles becomes meaningless if used in proportional control and should be disabled. Self Calibration: The automatic self calibration routine also works, but is used just for define open / closed values for the LED position indicator, since there are no more on / off outputs to be switched. The routine also stores the time of opening and closing for valve time alarm. Analog Output Calibration: The analog output will generate a -0mA signal proportional to movement of the target sensor threaded shaft. During the self calibration routine, the sensor sets the scaling of the transmitted signal. Note that the lower shaft movement, the lower is the accuracy of this conversion for the analog signal, but even with mm shaft drift, we obtain an accuracy of at least %. I-VUE Sensor - AS-Interface The sensor uses the same principles of discreet E version, but PNP outputs and control input of the solenoid were replaced by the structure of digital communication. The ASI. network accepts up to sensors, addressed via handheld from A to A and B to B and has input bits and output bits, plus parameter bits. The network topology is free, limited only to the cable length (00m), but can be extended through repeaters and tuners to up to 00m. The communication signal and data are transmitted in a cable with only pair of wires, with the DC power supply to 0. VDC and uses a special power supply, that through their inductors allow modulation of the communication signal on the dc power. The signal is very immune to noise. I-VUE Sensor - DeviceNet The sensor uses the same principles of discreet E version, but PNP outputs and control input of the solenoid were replaced by the structure of digital The DeviceNet network supports up to sensors, addressed by the magnetic buttons with the help of the display on the addresses 0 to. The network topology is based on branch line, with a trunk line and derivations to the sensors. The network uses a special shielded cable with shielded pairs of wires, one for Vdc and the other for communication, which is based on the CAN protocol. There are rules limiting cable length, but generally it is used the thick cable type for the trunk with up to 00m and the thin cable for derivation with up to m, restricting the total of the derivations in m. Communication bytes The DeviceNet network allows multiple bytes of communication, depending on the design of each device.
