It will occasionally be necessary to clean the outside of the refractor/lens. Frequency of cleaning will depend on ambient dirt level and minimum light output which is acceptable to user. Refractor/lens should be washed in a solution of warm water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed with clean water and wiped dry. Should optical assembly become dirty on the inside, wipe refractor/lens and clean in above manner, replacing damaged gaskets as necessary. DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCT! This luminaire has been properly packed so that no parts should have been damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm. Any part damaged or broken during or after assembly should be replaced. INSTALLATION 2.1 Tools and Materials Required TABLE 1. The mounting surface must be vertical or up to 10 degrees forward tilted. 2.2.2 Remove the reflector and the conduit wireway cover from the housing assembly. See Figure 2. Since both parts are mounted through slots or keyholes, it is necessary only to loosen the mounting screws. Figure 1 GR473 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Product Description. Remove only the three knockouts marked A. See Figure 3. If the fixture is to be mounted over an outlet box, remove the inspection cover and knock out the center wire entry opening. 2.2.4 Install the three nylon washers provided with the fixture on the 3/8" mounting bolts and bolt the fixture to the wall through the three knocked out holes. 2.2.5 If the fixture is mounted over an outlet box, remove the inspection cover, wire the electrical supply wires to the fixture input leads, and then insert all the supply wire and connections back into the outlet box. Then install the inspection cover over the wire entry opening with the fixture input leads through the slot in the inspection cover. See Figure 3. Figure 3 2.3 Pole Mounting Installation GR476 2.3.1 Remove the reflector from the housing assembly. It is mounted through slots or keyholes, so it is necessary only to loosen the mounting screws. 2.3.2 In the back of the fixture housing are several cast- in knockout locations. Remove only the three knockouts marked C. See Figure 5. Remove the inspection cover and knock out the center wire entry opening. 2.3.3 If the fixture will be mounted flush to the pole (without a spacer arm), install the three nylon washers provided with the fixture on the mounting bolts (not provided) and bolt the fixture to the pole through the three knocked out holes. See Figure 5. Figure 5 GR475 2.2.6 If the fixture is to be wired through 3/4" surface-mounted conduit, knock out the conduit opening(s) in the housing wall near the upper corners. Conduit attached in either or both of these conduit entry holes must be attached with sealing-type conduit nuts inside and outside (nuts not provided with the fixture.) Wire the electrical supply wires to the fixture input leads. Replace the conduit wireway cover with all electrical supply wires and connections inside the cover. 2.2.7 Install the reflector in the position it was when received and tighten the mounting screws firmly. Install the proper lamp. See the relamp label to verify the proper lamp. 2.2.8 Attach the door by inserting the door hinges into the housing GR480A
2.3.4 If the fixture will be mounted to the pole with a spacer arm from Holophane, the arm kit includes the arm, a plate, and three 7" long bolts with lockwasher. Assemble the fixture and arm to the pole as shown in Figure 6. Tighten the bolts enough to completely compress all lockwashers. See Figure 8. 2.4.4 Install the three nylon washers provided with the fixture on the 3/8" mounting bolts and bolt the fixture to the suspension bracket through the three knocked out holes. 2.4.5 If the fixture is to be wired through 3/4" surface-mounted conduit, knock out the conduit opening(s) in the housing wall near the upper corners. Conduit attached in either or both of these conduit entry holes must be attached with sealing-type conduit nuts inside and outside (nuts not provided with the fixture.) Wire the electrical supply wires to the fixture input leads. Replace the conduit wireway cover with all electrical supply wires and connections inside the cover. 2.4.6 Install the reflector in the position it was when received and tighten the mounting screws firmly. Then close the door and latch it with the door latch on top of the housing. 2.4 Suspension Bracket Installation. 2.4.1 See Figure 7 for mounting template of suspension bracket. Mount suspension bracket. 2.4.2 Remove the reflector and the conduit wireway cover from the housing assembly. See Figure 2. Since both parts are mounted through slots or keyholes, it is necessary only to loosen the mounting screws. Figure 7 2.5 Options and Accessories 2.5.1 Installation of Conduit Adapter GR653 2.5.1.1 Drill two (2).312 diameter holes at drill spots marked with the letter "D." See Figure 9. Position mounting plate and align holes with conduit adaptor. Mount conduit adapter and mounting plate with (2) 1/4-20 x 1.00 fasteners and (2) sealing washers. Make sure rubber side of sealing washer is against the Luminaire wall. Tighten completely to pull mounting plate and conduit adaptor against the back of Luminaire. Assemble the two piece back cover as shown in Figure 9 using the (4) 10-24 x.312 fasteners. 2.5.1.2 The back cover should float freely on the back of the Mod 600 luminaire. Mount the luminaire to the surface using (3) 3/8-16 x 3.50 fasteners. A cover is provided for optional usage. If the notch in the back cover is to be covered, slide the cover in place before securing to the surface. If the luminaire is mounted to the surface, the cover will snap in place over the notch. Figure 9 Figure 10 GR444A GR655 2.5.2 Quick Disconnect Installation 2.5.2.1 The quick disconnect is factory installed or installed by the contractor. If the quick disconnect is factory install, wire incoming leads, Lead L1 white common, Lead L2 black line, and Lead G green ground. Green ground lead is wired to casting ground lead. 2.5.2.2 If the contractor is installing the quick disconnect, drill two holes for #8-32 thread rolling screws using 9/64 diameter drill. Mount the bottom of the disconnect to casting with (2) thread rolling screws. Attach leads that are stripped on both ends. Wire to the fixture leads, Lead L1 white common, Lead L2 black line, and remove the ring terminal on the green ground lead and strip 1/2 inch. Wire incoming leads, Lead L1 white common, Lead L2 black line, and Lead G green ground. Green ground lead is wired to casting ground lead. Attach wire form handle with (2) screws provided to the top of the disconnect. 2.5.5 Polycarbonate Shield 2.5.5.1 A polycarbonate shield is field installed. Drill knockouts provided on inside of the door on both sides. See Figure 11. See instructions on the door. Figure 11 2.5.3 Photocontrol Installation 2.5.3.1 The photocontrol assembly is factory installed or installed by the contractor. If the factory installed the photocontrol, screw the plastic scope onto photocell and hand tighten. Orient scope in a northerly direction. 2.5.3.2 If the photocontrol assembly is installed by the contractor, remove the knockout in the top of the luminaire. The photocell is wired with the red lead to ballast line, the yellow lead to the common ballast and white socket lead, and the black lead to line. Additional leads are provided (one black and two white). Place "O" ring gasket over photocell and install through the opening. Secure with hex nut and torque to 15 inch lbs. Screw plastic scope onto photocell and hand tighten. Orient scope in a northerly direction. 2.5.4 Internal Shield 2.5.4.1 An internal shield is field installed. Unlatch the luminaire and open the door. Place shield with specular side toward the lamp as shown in Figure 10. Use no more than two shields per luminaire. 2.5.4.2 Install the clips provided on the extreme ends of the shields. Relatch the luminaire. 3. MAINTENANCE 3.1 Relamping and Cleaning 3.1.1 Disconnect electrical power to the fixture. 3.1.2 Unlatch the door and disengage the door cables and door hinges. The procedure allows the door to be disconnected for ease of maintenance. See Figure 4. 3.1.3 Remove the lamp and discard it in a safe and legal manner. 3.1.4 Wipe the reflector and the glass refractor with a clean dry cloth to remove dust and dirt. 3.1.5 Install the correct new lamp type according to relamp markings. 3.1.6 Reinstall the door by inserting the door hinges into the housing slots (see Figure 4) and attaching the loop of the door cables on the door to the lance-outs on the reflector mounting brackets. Then close the door and latch it with the door latch on top of the housing. 3.1.7 Reconnect the electrical power and energize the fixture. Check the fixture for proper operation. 3.2 Electrical Component Replacement 3.2.1 Disconnect electrical power to the fixture. 3.2.2 Unlatch the door and remove the door by disengaging the door cables and door hinges. Remove the lamp and reflector carefully. 3.2.3 Tag all wiring to be disconnected to assure proper rewiring. 3.2.4 Remove any electrical components that need to be replaced, saving the attachment hardware. Note the orientation and position of the electrical components before removing them to insure proper positioning of the new components. See Figure 3. 3.2.5 Position the new electrical component and attach them with the original hardware. Be certain all fasteners are fully engaged and/or tightened. 3.2.6 Rewire the electrical components according to the marked tags and approved wiring practices. When completed, check all wiring to insure that all connections are tight and no wires are pinched. 3.2.7 Reinstall the reflector and lamp. Make sure the lamp type agrees with relamp markings. Reinstall the door by inserting the door hinges into the housing slots (see Figure 4) and attaching the loop of the door cables on the door to the lance-outs on the reflector mounting brackets. Then close the door and latch it with the door latch on top of the housing. 3.2.8 Reconnect the electrical power and energize the fixture. Check the fixture for proper operation. 4.
