Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department Monthly Meeting Minutes March 5, 2018 President Paul Padua called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. The President asked for a moment of silence for our past, deceased members. There were 20 members present. Secretary s Report M/S/P Todd Miller, Rowland Denny to approve the Minutes of Feb, 5, 2018. Treasurer s Report We are at 77% of the Town Budget. M/S/P Matthew Ludwig, Gary Bottum to accept the Treasurer s Report. Officers Reports: Chief s Report: Officer of the month: Car 1 - Ludwig, CAFS, Hazmat, Rotary saw usage. - Good job getting the trucks out for recent calls. Glad to see E-90 getting out. - SCBA compressor has been ordered. Waiting on arrival. - E-40 TIC batteries on backorder - Uniform fittings this month. See Judy - Region 5 sump pump has been returned, back on E-30-2018 Inventory was updated - Apparatus registrations were renewed. - Station Low temp alarms are installed, 40deg T-Stat in the hallway & 1 in the furnace room - Now being requested to report Heat, Smoke exposures on members. Just mark on run sheets. I.e. Pump Operators/Exteriors with wind shifts, Brush Fires, etc. - Brian H. to sit on Local Emergency planning meeting for Norfolk - Incentive Committee met, submitted list to the town. $21k NVFD, 28 members qualify - Soft road edges, stay on hard pack, don t get stuck - To be proactive, need to address Driver Licenses as part of an annual check. Ensuring the members validity for the Town vehicles being driven. - Old Town Senior Van has been given to the FD for extrication training this spring - Diesel tank went dry last week. Has since been refueled. Code is XXXX - E-30 Ladder repaired and back on truck. Will be tested April 3rd in Nepaug at 9am
- Internet thru the PSDN-CEN with 20mb service is up and running. Need to keep the old DSL service until October or pay a $231 early termination fee. I asked selectmen to see if he can intervene to have the fee waived. - BOF meeting Tuesday, March 13 th 7:30p. They came from the Ambulance at no cost to us. - Cooperation between FD and Ambulance is great, and has been noted by other departments. Fire Police:
Mechanics: - Pump on Brush 50 so the throttle works, and freezing valve issues are being worked on. - Coming back next meeting with request for tool kit. Explorers: New Explorers have joined, total of 8 kids. Thalyia is the head advisor, and Richard is the assistant advisor. Judy, Paul, Rowland, and Steve are on the committee. LCD: Budget time projecting an increase for next year Committee Reports: Truck Committee: LED headlights for E90 would be $930.00, price was given to Northeast Fire, and they will take care of it at no cost to us. Insurance Committee: House Committee: Fund Raising: Awesome job for WIN event. Building Committee Two concepts are being looked at. Probably will be done in stages. In talks with Selectmen. Correspondence: - Thank you letter from Norfolk Children s Foundation for the donation from the sale of the t-shirts was received. - Valentine s Day Card was received from the Norfolk Early Learning Center.
Old Business: - Kelsey Jurgilewicz and Matthew Norton were voted into Membership. New Business: - We need to do haz-mat training. - Officers are getting together for year-end purchases sometime in March. - Application for membership from Michael Listorti.
