1.6 Kit Components Upper Bracket Extensions Retention Strap Lower Bracket Base Bottom Plate 5/32" Allen Wrench Mount Bars 1.8 Choosing a Mounting Location Typically, the bracket is mounted on a wall in the patient compartment of an ambulance. Choose an area large enough to accommodate the bracket when loaded with the largest oxygen cylinder that will be used. Bracket orientation can be vertical or horizontal. The wall must be an integral part of the patient compartment construction. The wall must be strong enough to hold the combined weight of the bracket and cylinder under the conditions of use. If wall strength or integrity is questionable, add backing plates or other supports as reinforcement. Before installing the bracket, check behind and/or beneath the surface for anything (wiring, oxygen lines, etc.) that might interfere with the installation. Unsupported or weak walls can fail under load, allowing the bracket to pull loose and cause injury. Mount the bracket only on walls strong enough to support the anticipated stress. and Users' Manual No. 234-1200-01 Adjustment Screw with Hardware (4 ea) 1.9 Installing the Bracket Figure 1 - Kit Components (not to scale) 1.7 Components Descriptions Upper Bracket - Holds the cylinder neck to limit cylinder movement in the bracket. Adjusts for cylinders of different heights. Lower - A base for Jumbo D size cylinders. Bottom Plate - A base for D and E size cylinders. s: Connect the upper and lower parts of the bracket and provide support for mounting the bracket. Extensions - Raise the upper support bracket to the height needed for E size cylinders. Retention Strap - Adjustable, quick-release strap secures the Adjustment Screws - Screws that attach the upper support bracket to the main bracket. 1. Separate the upper support bracket from the mount bars. Use the 5/32 inch Allen wrench to remove the four adjustment screws (Figure 2). Set aside the upper support bracket, screws, and washers for use later. Figure 2 - Removing the Adjustment Screws 2. Choose Method #1 or #2 to mark the drilling points on the ambulance wall. Method #1 (Figure 3) is recommended if the bracket is to hold only D and Jumbo D size cylinders, and is to be installed vertically with its base resting on the floor and its mount bars against the ambulance wall. Method #2 (Figure 4) is recommended for most other installations, including those where an E size cylinder will be used in the bracket. 2

METHOD #1 Place the bracket against the wall at the chosen location and use the four countersunk holes in the mount bars to mark the drilling points on the wall (Figure 3). Figure 3 - Method #1 - Marking Drilling Points 3. Drill a 17/64 inch diameter hole at each marked point. 4. Fasten the mount bars to the wall with four 1/4 inch diameter flat head machine screws (not provided in this kit). The screws must be long enough to go through the mount bars, the wall, and any backing plates or other rigid supports, plus hold two washers and the jam nut. Insert the screws into the countersunk holes in the mount bars. Place a flat fender washer, a split lock washer, and a nut on each screw (Figure 5) and tighten securely. 5. The mount bar extensions are required when using the bracket to hold an E size cylinder. Follow Steps 4 and 5 to fasten the extensions to the wall (Figure 6). Wood screws and some other types of fasteners can pull loose and fail. Mount the bracket using only the type fasteners specified in these instructions. METHOD #2 Mark the drilling points using the dimensions shown in Figure 4.
