DP33 Pump 0:1, 3+3, Air-operated, Grease General The DP33 Pump is a compressed air-operated reciprocating piston pump designed to pump all types of mineral greases. Suitable for installations with medium length piping to supply up to three grease outlets simultaneously. This pump is mounted directly on 120 lb and 00 lb drums. Operation This pump is self-priming. To prime it the first time, connect the air supply to the pump while keeping the outlet gun opened and increase the air pressure from 0 to the desired pressure slowly using a pressure regulator. Once grease starts flowing through all the outlets, the pump is primed. The pump starts to pump automatically when the outlet valve is opened. (Note: It is important that the lower valve does not come into contact with contaminated surfaces, such as a workshop floor, as it may become contaminated with dirt or foreign particles that can damage the pump mechanism.) Technical Data Maximum Air Pressure Minimum Air Pressure Maximum Delivery @ 100 psi Air Inlet Thread Grease Outlet Thread Air Piston Diameter Air Piston Stroke 10 psi (10 bar) 0 psi (3 bar) 2. lb (1200 gr/min) 3/8 BSP 3/8 BSP 3 (75mm) 3 (75mm) Installation To install the pump on the drum, use the included bung adapter. Fasten the cover (part #F193 for 120 lb keg and part #F1938 for 00 lb drum) onto the drum and screw the nut of the bung adapter into the 2 bung opening of the cover. Insert the pump through the nut and fix it with the star nut to the desired height. Always keep fingers and hands away from moving parts. Do not dent or damage the riser tube. Ensure that the mounting surface and attachments are strong enough to support the lift and pump assembly during operation. 1
Typical Layout See drawing below for typical layout with all the recommended accessories for the pump to operate correctly. The compressed air supply must be fixed between 0 and 10 psi (3 and 10 bar). The recommended pressure is 90 psi ( bar). An air shut-off valve must be installed to be able to close the compressed air line at the end of the day (if the air inlet is not closed and there is leakage in some point of the grease outlet circuit, the pump will start automatically, emptying the container). Maintenance Separate the Air Motor from the Pump 1. Attach the pump to a vice in horizontal position, securing it by the suction tube. Unthread the air motor from the suction tube () and pull out the air motor until the pin (3) becomes visible. 2. Remove the pin and unthread the rod (3) until it s free. (See drawing on right.) Refer to page 5 for parts reference. Before starting any kind of maintenance or repair, disconnect the compressed air supply and open a downstream valve to relieve the grease pressure. Replace the Air Distributor 1. Unthread the plug (23) and remove the circlip (13), the muffler (1) and the muffler support (15). 2. Remove the distributor axle (21). 3. Unthread the screw (8) completely and carefully remove the distributor bushing (1).. Lubricate the new distributor bushing (1) with its O-rings, insert it from the side of the plug (23) and hold something to stop it at the side of the muffler (1). Be very careful not to damage the bushing (1) or the O-rings. Clean the Muffler 1. Unthread the filter plug (19) and remove the muffler (18). 2. Clean the muffler (18) carefully and replace it in position; reinstall the filter plug (19). Remove pin and unthread the rod Replace the Air Motor Seal 1. Unthread the plug (1) and remove the cover (2). Unthread the nut (3) and remove the washer (), the guide ring (5) and the air escape ring (11) with their O-rings, and the washers (10). 2. Unthread the screws (20) and remove the inverter head (17). 3. Unthread the inverter rod (2) and remove the O-rings ().. Unthread the screws (37), remove the air cylinder (28) and take out the piston assembly (25, 32 and 0). 5. Replace the damaged parts and assemble following previous instructions, reversing each step. Replace the Packing Set 1. Follow steps 1 through 5 of the Air Motor Seals procedure. 2. Remove the circlip (35) and take out the packing set body (2). 3. Remove the outlet valve () from the current packing set and put it on the new packing set.. Assemble the pump following previous instructions, reversing each step. Clean or Replace the Foot Valve 1. Remove the threaded plug (73) and the filter (72), unthread the nut (71) from the priming rod and remove the primer (70). 2. Push in the priming rod (50) and unthread the priming tube (9) using the provided holes and remove it. 3. Take out the components of the valve (3-) and clean them carefully, replace any if damaged.. Assemble the pump following the previous instructions, reversing each step. 3
Clean or Replace the Upper Valve 1. Unthread and remove the foot valve tube (1) from the pump tube (50) and take out the connection rod (52) together with the high pressure piston (5). 2. Gently push out the packing assembly (57-0) from the pump tube (50) using a ø19mm tube and clean it carefully, replace any if damaged. 3. Remove the pin that holds the connection rod (52) to the high pressure piston (5) and unthread the piston. Take out the components of the upper valve (53-55) and clean them carefully, replace any if damaged.. Assemble the pump following the previous instructions, reversing each step. Refer to page 5 for parts reference. Before starting any kind of maintenance or repair, disconnect the compressed air supply and open a downstream valve to relieve the grease pressure. Troubleshooting Symptom Possible Cause Remedy The pump is not working or there is no grease delivery. The pump begins to operate very fast. The pump runs on continuously after the grease outlet is closed. Grease is leaking through the outlet muffler. Air is leaking through the outlet muffler. Not enough air supply pressure. Some outlet line component is clogged or closed. There are air pockets in the grease inlet area. The drum is empty or the grease level is beneath the suction tube inlet. There is a grease leak in some point of the outlet circuit. Grease has by-passed to the air motor caused by worn or damaged packing set. The O-rings of the distributor axle (21) or the bushings (1) are worn or damaged. The inverter O-rings are worn or damaged. Slowly increase the air supply pressure. Clean or open the outlet circuit. Stir and compact the grease. Replace the drum or lower the suction tube until the inlet reaches below the grease level. Verify and tighten or repair. Replace the worn or damaged parts. Replace the axle assembly (21) and/ or bushing assembly (1). Replace the inverter O-rings. Decrease of the grease delivery. Dirt in upper valve or the foot valve. Dismount and clean, replace if damaged. Dirt in muffler (18). Dismount and clean/replace muffler.
