Wheels Tyres Wheels Tyres WHEELS TYRES WARNING ALWAYS use the same make and type of radial-ply tyres front and back. DO NOT use cross-ply tyres, or interchange tyres from front to back. For optimum performance and handling ALWAYS replace tyres with the same make and type as those fitted from new at the factory. If these tyres are not available, consult your Dealer/Authorised Repairer for advice on Land Rover approved alternatives. Failure to do so may adversely affect vehicle handling. NEVER drive your vehicle if the tyres are badly worn, cut or damaged, or if the pressures are incorrect. Incorrectly inflated tyres wear rapidly and can seriously affect the vehicle's safety and road-handling characteristics. Your vehicle is fitted with tubeless road wheels that will NOT accept inner tubes. DO NOT fit a tube tyre. ONLY Land Rover approved wheel and tyre combinations should be fitted to the vehicle. Q-rated tyres should not be used at speeds greater than 160 km/h (100 mph), T-rated tyres should not be used at speeds greater than 190 km/h (118 mph). Note: Unidirectional tyres are available for all of the above wheels see, directional Tyres*, 222. 280

Wheels Tyres Tyre pressures Loading condition Pressure - kpa (lbf/in2) Normal operating conditions Front 230 (34) Rear 250 (36) *Temporary spare in any 420 (60) position Vehicle loaded to maximum Front 250 (36) gross vehicle weight Rear 300 (44) *Temporary spare in any position 420 (60) Note: The pressure for your spare tyre should be set to the highest value given for your vehicle s wheel/tyre size combination, and adjusted after fitment. Note: When towing heavy trailers or with the tow vehicle loaded, the additional imposed nose weight may cause the GVW tyre loading to be exceeded. This is permissible provided that road speeds are limited to 100 km/h (60 mph) and rear tyre pressures are increased by at least 3 lbf/in2 (20 kpa). This excludes the temporary spare*, where 80 km/h 50 mph is the maximum permitted speed and tyre pressure should be maintained at the pressure shown above. Tyre inflation pressure It is important that tyres be properly inflated. Air pressure enables a tyre to support the vehicle load, so proper inflation is critical. Failure to maintain correct inflation pressures may result in rapid and uneven tread wear, erratic vehicle handling and excessive heat build-up, which may result in tyre failure. It is impossible to determine if a tyre is properly inflated just by looking at it. Tyre pressures listed in the vehicle handbook are considered to be the recommended cold tyre inflation pressure, at maximum gross vehicle weight condition, measured when the tyres are cold, after the vehicle has been parked for at least 3 hours or driven less than 3 miles (5 km). Tyre pressures at normal operating conditions are shown in the table above. When you drive for more than 3 miles (5 km), the tyres, and the air inside them, warm up and it is normal for the tyre pressure to increase above the recommended cold pressure. When checking tyre pressure in this condition, never bleed or reduce air pressure. WARNING If the vehicle has been parked in strong sunlight or used in high ambient temperatures, DO NOT reduce tyre pressures; instead, move the vehicle into the shade and allow the tyres to cool before checking. Note: A hot tyre at or below recommended cold inflation pressure is dangerously under-inflated. 281

Weights Weights VEHICLE WEIGHTS Approximate EEC kerb weights (full fuel tank) - Petrol engine vehicles 2440-2570 kg (5379-5666 lb) - Diesel engine vehicles 2435-2570 kg (5368-5666 lb) Maximum gross vehicle weight - All vehicles 3050 kg (6724 lb) Maximum front axle load - All vehicles 1530 kg (3373 lb) Maximum rear axle load - All vehicles 1850 kg (4078 lb) Note: Axle weights are non-additive; i.e. maximum GVW is not calculated by adding together maximum front and rear axle loads. The above individual maximum axle weights and gross vehicle weight must not be exceeded, except when towing. TOWING Note: The gross vehicle weight can be increased to a maximum of 3150 kg (6945 lb) and the rear axle load can be increased to a maximum of 2050 kg (4519 lb) when towing, provided road speed is limited to 100km/h (60 mph) or 80km/h (50 mph) when temporary spare wheel* is in use. 282

Weights TOWING WEIGHTS MAXIMUM TRAILER WEIGHT. All Vehicles Maximum Tow Hitch On-road Off-road Load (Nose weight) Unbraked trailer 750 kg (1653 lb) 750 kg (1653 lb) 150 kg (330 lb) Trailer with over-run brakes 3500 kg (7716 lb) 1000 kg (2204 lb) 150 kg (330 lb) To increase stability when loading to the maximum trailer weight, it is advised that trailer load distribution is adjusted to achieve the recommended nose weight see, TOWING A TRAILER, 169. Note: When towing on-road, Do not exceed 100 km/h (60 mph) or 80 km/h (50 mph) when temporary spare wheel is in use. GROSS TRAIN WEIGHT (WITH OVER-RUN BRAKES) = GVW plus maximum weight of trailer Europe only - the GVW used for calculation of GTW includes a legislated extra allowance of 100 kg (220 lb). All Vehicles On-road Off-road Maximum Tow Hitch Load (Nose weight) 6650 kg(14440 lb) 150 kg (330 lb) NOTE:For trailers with over-run brakes only, if a greater nose weight is necessary, the recommended 150 kg (330 lb) can be increased up to a maximum of 250 kg (550 lb) total nose weight. However, vehicle payload MUST BE RESTRICTED by at least the same weight to ensure that the GVW and rear axle load are not exceeded. MAXIMUM ROOF RACK WEIGHT Land Rover approved system On-road Off-road 100 kg (220 lb) 30 kg (66 lb) NOTE:The weight of Land Rover approved roof bars and cross rail roof rack is allowed for before further weight calculations are made. However, if an alternative roof rack system is to be used, the weight of the system must be included as part of the load weight. 283

Fuel Consumption Fuel Consumption FUEL CONSUMPTION The fuel consumption figures shown below have been calculated using a standard testing procedure (the new EC test procedure from Directive 99/100/EC), and produced in accordance with The Passenger Car Fuel Consumption (Amendment) Order 1996. Under normal use, a vehicle's actual fuel consumption figures may differ from those achieved through the test procedure, depending on driving technique, road and traffic conditions, environmental factors, vehicle load and condition. Fuel consumption figures URBAN EXTRA-URBAN COMBINED mpg l/100km mpg l/100km mpg l/100km Petrol 10.6 22.2 18.67 12.6 14.52 16.2 Diesel 16.33 14.4 25.02 9.4 20.82 11.3 Urban cycle The urban test cycle is carried out from a cold start and consists of a series of accelerations, decelerations and periods of steady speed driving and engine idling. The maximum speed attained during the test is 50 km/h (30 mph) with an average speed of 19 km/h (12 mph). Extra-urban cycle The extra urban test cycle is carried out immediately after the urban test. Approximately half of the test comprises steady-speed driving, while the remainder consists of a series of accelerations, decelerations and engine idling. The maximum test speed is 120 km/h (75 mph) and the average speed 63 km/h (39 mph). The test is carried out over a distance of 7 km (4.3 miles). Combined The combined figure is an average of the urban and extra-urban test cycle results, which has been weighted to take account of the different distances covered during the two tests. Note: These figures should not be compared with the figures produced using the ECE/EEC procedure previously required by The Passenger Car Fuel Consumption Order 1983. Because of the changes in test procedure, even the urban figures would differ if the same car were subjected to both tests. 287
