Answer Key Part 1: Hiab XS 335K 1. 3,980 pounds At a height of 35 ft and a radius of 35 ft, the gross capacity is 3,980 lbs. 2. 2,300 lbs Deductions from Gross Capacity Pallet forks 860 lbs Rotator 80 lbs Total Deductions 940 lbs The gross capacity at a radius of 45 ft and a height of 35 ft is 3,240 lbs. The Net Capacity is 3,240 940 = 2,300 lbs 3. 25 feet Load weight 6,000 lbs Rigging 350 lbs Total Load 6,350 lbs At a height of 35 ft, the maximum radius a load of 6,350 lbs can be placed is 25 ft. www.fulford.ca + Fulford Harbour Group AK1
Part 2: Hiab 175 4. 890 kg The gross capacity at a 8m radius and a 12m height is 890 kg. 5. 880 kg Deductions from Gross Capacity Pallet forks weight 420kg At a height of minus 4m and a radius of 10m, the gross capacity is 1,300 kg. The Net Capacity is 1,300 420 = 880 kg 6. 4 metres The maximum radius for a Gross Capacity of 3,000 kg at a height of 7m is 4m. Part 3: Effer 145.00 5S 7. 2,450 lbs Deductions from Gross Capacity Rigging 125 lbs Gross Capacity at a radius of 26 ft is 2,575 lbs. Net Capacity is 2,575 125 = 2,450 lbs. www.fulford.ca + Fulford Harbour Group AK2
8. 14 feet 10 inches Load weight 3,600 lbs Rigging 50 lbs Total Load 3,650 lbs The maximum radius the load can be placed is 14 10. Part 4: Rigging 9. 3 The capacity of a 3 inch nylon web sling at angle of 45 degrees is 4,665 lbs. 4,665 x 2 = 9,330 lbs The capacity of a 2 inch nylon web sling at angle of 45 degrees is 3,110 lbs. 3,110 x 2 = 6,220 lbs (too small). 10. 9/16 inch 20 feet The capacity of 9/16 inch wire rope slings in a 2-leg bridle configuration at a 60 degree angle is 9,900 lbs. a) Since both legs of the 2-Leg bridle are the same length (20 feet), the angles must be the same, 60 i.e. 60 degrees. b) There are 180 degrees in a triangle, so the third angle (at the top) is 180 60 60 = 60 degrees. c) A triangle with 3 equal angles must also have 3 equal sides. Therefore, the distance between 60 the attachments is 20 feet. 60 www.fulford.ca + Fulford Harbour Group AK3 20 20
