1. Introduction Fig.1 MAX. ( Process ) MIN. ( Ambient ) The Rotative Level Control RL-A AD1/2* are used to detect the level of materials such as dust or granules in containers. They are supplied with plastic housing with a cable gland for assembly cabling whilst. The fixing part is plastic. This device must be mounted on the external wall of the container, laterally and from the top (see fig. 1). The measuring vane must not be struck by the material to be detected. In order to avoid this, if the weight on the measuring vane and shaft is high (this is the case of heavy weight material or subject to block movements) place above the measuring vane some protection deflectors. Mode of operation output signal Switching part motor A low revolution synchronous induction gearing motor drives a rotating measuring vane, which is for example mounted at a container (see fig. 4). Fig.4 output signal + SW2 Switching part SW1 - SENSITIVITY ADJUSMENT motor As soon as the material level, which is to be checked, reaches the measuring vane, it is handicaped in his rotation. The synchronous induction motor is freely suspended within the housing. The caused reaction torque is used to operate a micro switch giving a suitable electrical signal and to stop the motor (see fig.5). When the vane becomes free again due to the drop in material level, a spring draws the motor back into his operating position, the micro switch returns to his inital position and the motor is switched on. The electrical output signal is then switched over (see fig. 4). Adjustment of the sensitivity: The spring is adjustable in 3 positions(see fig.5) It should be changed only if necessary. Spring + SW2 SW1 - Light : for light material; Central : suitable for nearly every material; Strong : for strong cacking material; Factory setting is Central. Safety items General The Level control should only be mounted, connected and set-up by qualified staff. The qualified staff must have knowledge of protection classes, regulations and provisions for aparatus in hazardous areas. Check whether the classification ( see Marking above and marking on the unit) is suitable for the application. Switch off the mains voltage before opening the housing. Dangerous voltage! Set into operation only with closed lid of the housing. Line-up only with closed device Use a fuse for the mains voltage (max. 4A) and the signal output (max. 4A). A voltage disconnecting switch must be provided near the switch. A FI protective switch is necessary. Compare the mains voltage applied with the specifications given on the label before switching the device on. For terminal connection of the device, the local regulations must be observed. In the case of inexpert handling or handling malpractice, the electric safety of the device cannot be guaranted. Isolating signal output - mains voltage: 3kV Provide protection for relay contacts to protect the device against spikes, if inductive loads are connected. 6. Safety items Ex relevant Safety instructions for electrical installation All field wirings must have insulation suitable for at least 250Vac. The rating must be at least 90(194 F). Before opening the lid take care, that no dust deposits or whirlings are present. Cable glands and blanking elements Installation according to the regulations of the country, where the product is installed. Not used entries have to be closed with blanking elements certified for this purpose. Where applicable the factory provided parts must be used. A strain relief must be provided for the field wiring cables, when the device is installed with the factory provided cable glands. The diameter of the field wiring cable must match to the clamping range of the cable clamp. If other than the factory provided parts are used, following must be ensured: - The parts must have an approval adequate to the approval of the level sensor ( certificate and type of protection) - The approved range must be from the min. ambient of the level sensor to the max. ambient of the level sensor increased by 10k. - The parts must be mounted according to the instructions of the supplier. 7. Mounting The Rotative Level Control RL-A AD1/2* must be mounted with the thread or the flange on the container. Mounting may be vertical, oblique or horizontal. Inside container (Category 1) Outside container (Category 2) RL-A AD1/2... The electrical connections are made in accordance with the connection diagram( see fig. 6). Make sure, that the cable in the screwed cable gland is seated tightly without fail. After mounting, turn the housing in the rigth direction. The screwed cable gland must show downwards (see fig. 7). This makes sure, that the unit works fine and protects, that water enters into the housing through the screwed cable gland. When the Rotative Level Control RL-A AD1/2* is used in the open, we recommend to use the weather-protection-cover. It protects the unit against moinsture, heat, cold and prevents the formation of condensation water in the interior of the housing. Adjusting the unit at site in not required. Zone classification and Marking The Rotative Level Control RL-A AD1/2* can be used in hazardous areas according to the classification II 1/2D: group II, category 1/2D (zone 20/21), apparatus for dust atmosphere. This device are specially markerd on the type plate (see fig. 9). The approval according to 2014/34/EU directive determines the following classification: Device category to 94/9/EC Usable in zone 1D 20, 21, 22 2D 21, 22 3D * 22 (*) In case of conductive dust additional demands for installation are possible.
