General Notes Read through the fitting instructions before installation of the accessory. Install the accessory following the fitting instructions. Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle or the accessory. Ensure all recyclable discarded vehicle accessory components are packaging are recycled following local recycling regulations. It is always recommended that this accessory is fitted by a qualified automotive technician. Safely store and protect any removed vehicle components. Ensure all bare metal surfaces are protected using automotive bare metal primer and touch-up paint, or suitable automotive rust inhibitor. Remove all metal swarf and dust from all vehicle surface if surface is used for accessory installation. Safety Notes Check that all work practices comply with safety standards. Please wear appropriate clothing and use safety equipment. Step Always refer to the vehicle s Workshop Manual when removing vehicle components. Note down all clock and radio settings. In the engine bay, disconnect the negative battery terminal. Step Inside the vehicle, remove the glove box (). Step Remove the five screws () on the glove box surround (). Remove the glove box surround (). FI98 Page 04 of 5
Step 4 Remove the passenger scuff plate (). Repeat for RHS. Step 5 Dislodge the door seal () and remove the passenger side inner kick panel trim (). Repeat for RHS. Step 6 Dislodge the drivers side lower trim () by first removing the two bolts () holding the bonnet release (). FI98 Page 05 of 5
Step 7 From behind the connectors (). drivers side lower trim () disconnect all the Dislodge the cable tie clip () and remove the drivers side lower trim (). Step 8 Remove the cupholder assembly () from the center console by pulling in an upwards direction. Dislodge the blank switch panel () from the cupholder assembly (). Step 9 Cut out and adhere the supplied Switch Template () (Page 5) to the center of the blank switch panel (). Using a Ømm drill bit, drill out the pilot holes in the locations specified on the template (). Drill out the top hole to Ø.5mm and the bottom hole to Ø0mm. FI98 Page 06 of 5
Step 0 Fit the remote head () to the blank switch panel (). Secure the remote head () to the blank switch panel () as shown. Torque the nut () to 0.8 Nm. Rotate the shaft (4) full anti-clockwise and fit the knob (5) to the shaft (4) with 0" pointing upwards as shown below. Refit the blanck switch panel () to the cupholder assembly (6). 4 5 4 5 6 Step Secure the Brake Controller ECU () to the ECU Bracket () using the supplied M4 Screws (), M4 Spring Washers (4) and M4 Flat Washers (5). Fit the supplied Grommet (6) to the slotted hole of the ECU Bracket (). 4-way ECU connector 4 5 6 Cat 5 cable Step Inside the drivers side lower trim, locate the two studs (). Slide the two supplied M8 Large Flat Washers () over the upper threaded stud. FI98 Page 07 of 5
Step Slide the Brake Controller ECU Assembly () over the two studs. Secure the Brake Controller ECU Assembly () on the upper threaded stud using the supplied M8 Flat Washer () and M8 Nut (). Ensure the grommet (4) is seated correctly. 4 Step 4 In the passenger side foot well, pull back the floor carpet () to expose the insulation foam. Step 5 On the LHS firewall, remove the factory grommet (). FI98 Page 08 of 5
Step 6 Cut an incision into the insulation foam () that is behind the previously removed grommet. Step 7 Remove the battery positive terminal cover (). Fasten the positive ring terminal () from the Electric Brake Harness to the positive battery terminal. Refit the battery positive terminal cover (). Fasten the negative terminal () from the Electric Brake Harness to the vehicle ground point (4). 4 Step 8 Route the Electric Brake Harness () from the battery to the interior through the grommet hole as shown. Secure the Electric Brake Harness () using the supplied Cable Ties. Ensure the grommet is seated properly. FI98 Page 09 of 5
Step 9 Inside the vehicle, route the Electric Brake Harness () from the passenger footwell to the driver s side kick panel area. Secure the Electric Brake Harness () to the existing vehicle harness using the supplied Cable Ties. Ensure the Electric Brake Harness () is routed in a way as to avoid any sharp areas. Be sure to avoid contact with the vehicle steering column and pedals. Step 0 Inside the vehicle, using the table below, house the terminals () from the Electric Brake Harness into the supplied 4-Way Connector (), ensuring the terminals lock into the housing. Snap off the secondary lock () from behind the 4-Way Connector (). Fit the secondary lock () to the underside of the 4-Way Connector (). Terminal 4 Wire Colour Red Blue White Black 4 Rear View of Connector (Wire Entry Side) Step Connect the 4-Way Connector () from the Electric Brake Harness () to the Brake Controller ECU (). Connect the Cat 5 Cable (4), supplied in the wiring kit, to the Brake Controller ECU (). 4 FI98 Page 0 of 5
Step Route the Cat 5 Cable () along the dash towards the center console area. Continue routing the Cat 5 Cable () under the centre console and out the cup holder cavity. Use a guide wire if necessary. Secure the Cat 5 Cable (), using the supplied Cable Ties, to the existing vehicle harnesses where available. Plug the Cat 5 Cable () into the remote head () and refit the cupholder assembly. Ensure the Cat 5 Cable () is routed in a way that does not interfere with the steering column, vehicle pedals or the gear and handbrake mechanisms. Step In the engine bay, route the Electric Brake Harness () (tail light patch) down to the chassis rail towards the rear of the vehicle. Secure harness at every 00mm using supplied 900mm Cable Ties. Step 4 Route the Electric Brake Harness () along the top of the chassis rail towards the rear of the vehicle. Secure the Electric Brake Harness at every 00mm using the supplied 900mm Cable Ties (). Note : Ensure Cable Ties are behind the fuel lines (). Step 5 At the rear of the vehicle, route the Electric Brake Harness () along the chassis rail towards the LHS tail light area. Secure using the supplied Cable Ties. Step 6 In the rear passenger side of the vehicle, near the spare wheel, locate the trailer wiring harness grey 8-way connectors (). Disconnect the trailer wiring harness grey 8-way connectors () and patch in the 8-way connectors () from the Brake Controller Harness. FI98 Page of 5
Step 7 Locate the Blue wire that is taped back on the trailer wiring harness near the 8-way connector. Locate the Blue wire that is taped back on the Electric Brake Harness. Cut the brass ferrule off and strip the insulation back 0mm on both the Blue wires. Slide the supplied Heatshrink over the wires before crimping both wires using the supplied Butt Splice with an indent type crimpers. Solder the wires to the butt splice. Ensure that a good connection is made. 4 Keep heatshrink away from joint until after soldering is complete and cooled. Wait for the butt splice to cool, slip heatshrink over the joint and heat. Step 8 Re-connect the negative battery terminal. Test the operation of the Tow-Pro system as per the Tow-Pro user manual. Dispose of any parts not used from the fitment. Important Secure all harnesses to the vehicle using cable ties. Refit all removed parts and secure all fasteners to the Service Manual torque specifications. Important Reprogram all radio stations and clock settings by referring to the vehicle's Owner's Manual. Please place the Fitting Instructions and Owner's Manual in the glove box after installation is completed. E. & O.E.
