Installing such a compact free-standing UPS avoids taking up valuable rackspace without significantly reducing the available floor area. With heat dissipation as low as 300W, the S2000 will fit in anywhere. Management options In common with the rest of the AEC on-line UPS range, the S2000 supports a broad range of industry standard protocols, with management options to suit all environments.this means that the S2000 can be managed using any standards-compliant operating system in conjunction with one of a number of available management solutions including direct serial connection via smart RS232 DB9 (as standard), volt-free contacts via DB25 (also as standard), or a further range of options using the integrated smartcard slot. Dedicated UPS management software is also available see page 30 for more information. External Smartcard This allows the user to take advantage of a growing range of add-on cards providing facilities such as SNMP, remote web browser-based management, along with optocoupler and relay cards. Control and management functions are also available through any standard web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape or Opera). Simply point your browser to the network address assigned to the smartcard, and the embedded web server returns web pages providing access to monitor or control all system parameters.the easy-to-use browser interface with online help means that minimum training is required to enable staff to effectively manage the UPS and protected devices. A sophisticated Java applet provides full system monitoring in real time, along with comprehensive event and history logs. Display panel LCD display and audible alarms actively let you know if the unit is on battery, the battery charge is low, or there is an overload condition. Loading and battery depletion meters prevent you from exceeding UPS capacity and allow you to assess runtime remaining before battery reserves are depleted. Advanced battery management A variable boost charger ensures quick battery recharge.this means that the S2000 UPS is fully prepared for duty with a minimum recovery time in the event of a power failure. Active battery management intelligently monitors the battery set with automatic battery and circuitry self-tests, increasing both battery life and system reliability. 11 SNMP/HTTP management The optional SNMP/HTTP functions as an SNMP agent and includes an embedded HTTP server (web server).this means that one industry standard management tool can be used to monitor and control all your UPS from one central location, and power management can now be integrated into your existing network or building management strategy. Alarms ( traps ) can be configured to ensure automatic notification of events such as low battery, mains outage or overload. MIBs are included with the product.
