Overview Egypt is the Biggest Non-OPEC oil producer & oil refining capacity in Africa. Egypt is the Biggest petroleum products consumer in Africa, (20% of the total consumption (BP Statistical 2014 ). The refined crude oil declined by 16% from 2009 to 2015. Population growth, energy subsidies and the sustainable development contribute the rapid growth of oil consumption. Natural gas and oil are the main energy source for Egypt (94% of the country s total energy consumption), 15/3/2016 95% of the electricity Generated EGPC-ARRA in Egypt used oil and gas fuel. 3

Conclusion Over the past few years Egypt has been shifted to be a Net Energy Importer & It is going to face an energy supply problem 15/3/2016 EGPC-ARRA 16

Oil & Gas Sector Challenges Oil and Gas production are going to decrease while the populations increase. Limited Logistics (Piping and Storage Capacity). Some of our Refineries needs revamping and Upgrading. Electricity sector still depends mainly on oil and gas as fuel for generating electricity. Energy subsidies and Energy Efficiency. 15/3/2016 EGPC-ARRA 17

Technical Assistance to support the reform of the Energy Sector, Arab Republic of Egypt (TARES) Duration January 2013 December 2016 Aims to : - Improve the energy policy and regulatory framework - Promote the energy efficiency in Egypt - Mitigate the Green House Gas emissions. 3 major Components Component A Energy Strategy to 2035 and Action Plan Component B Gas Regulation Component C Energy Efficiency 15/3/2016 EGPC-ARRA 18
