Front Door Panel: Service and Repair Front Door Trim Panel - Removal REMOVAL Special Tools: 1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable 2. Using trim stick or equivalent, disengage the two retaining tabs that secure the side view mirror flag (2) to the front door (1) and the front door trim panel (3) and remove the mirror flag.

Using trim remover or equivalent, disengage the retaining tabs that secure the door trim panel to the door. 5. Lift the door trim panel upward and disengage the top of the trim panel from the door and the door lock knob (1). 6. Position the top of the door trim panel away from the door to gain access to the electrical connectors and interior door handle linkage. 7. Disconnect the power door switches and courtesy lamp electrical connectors. 8. Disengage the cable housing (3) from the interior door handle bracket (4). 9. Disconnect the interior door handle cable (2) from the handle (5). 10. Remove the front door trim panel (1) from the vehicle. 11. If required, disengage the front of the interior handle (6) from the door trim panel and slide the handle forward to remove the handle from the trim panel.
Front Door: Service and Repair Front Door - Removal REMOVAL To protect the vehicle finish, apply several layers of masking tape on the front edges of the door and the front fender prior to loosening the hinges. Illustration shown with door and door seal removed for clarity. 1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. 2. Disengage the door wire harness grommet (2) from the cowl side panel and disconnect the two body wire harness connectors from the door harness (4). 3. Disengage the door seal as required from the door and route the door wire harness out from beneath the seal. Illustration shown with door removed from vehicle for clarity. 4. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the installed position of both front door hinges (1) in relationship to the door (3). 5. With assistance, remove the two nuts (2) that secure each door hinge to the door and carefully remove the door. 6. If required, remove the carrier plate See: Front Door Carrier Plate - Removal.
Front Door: Service and Repair Front Door - Installation INSTALLATION Illustration shown with door removed from vehicle for clarity. 1. With assistance, carefully position the front door (3) to the hinges (1) and loosely install the two nuts (2) that secure each hinge to the door. 2. Align the hinges to the marks on the door and tighten the retaining nuts to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.). 3. Connect the two body wire harness connectors to the door wire harness (4) and engage the grommet (2) to the cowl side panel. Make sure the wire harness connectors and the grommet are fully engaged. 4. Reconnect the negative battery cable. 5. Verify door alignment. The door should have equally spaced gaps to the adjacent panels and fit flush across the gaps. Adjust as required.
Front Door Panel: Service and Repair Front Door Trim Panel - Installation INSTALLATION Prior to reinstalling the door trim panel, replace any trim panel retaining tabs that may have been damaged during the removal process. 1. If removed, install the rear of the interior door handle (6) into the door trim panel (1) and engage the front of the handle to the trim panel. 2. Position the door trim panel to the door and connect the interior door handle cable (2) to the handle (6). 3. Engage the cable housing (3) to the interior door handle bracket (4). Make sure the cable housing is fully engaged to the bracket. 4. Connect the power door switches and courtesy lamp electrical connectors. 5. Lift the front door trim panel (2) upward and install it over the door lock knob (1). 6. Engage the top of the front door trim panel to the door. 7. Engage the retaining tabs that secure the door trim panel to the door. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged. 8. Install the two screws (3) that secure the front door trim panel to the carrier plate (4). Tighten the screws securely.
