INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS / NOTES: Do not use excessive force when removing OE mirror from windshield. Do not push fish wire too far into dash to avoid damage to existing components. Do not place wire harness against objects with sharp edges that may cause electrical shorting. On vehicles equipped with A pillar air bag, verify mirror harness path remains clear of air bag. Harness should follow, and be tied to, existing OEM wiring with tie wraps. Verify that power harness path will not interfere with brake, clutch, emergency brake or air bag operation. Use tie wraps to hold the wiring away from critical locations. 1 Preparation Perform the following pre-installation steps: 1) Place kit components on a clean, padded surface and inspect for damage or defects. 2) Record customer s programmed radio stations. 3) Disconnect negative battery terminal. a) Remove relay cover by grasping rear of cover and pulling upwards. Disengage locking tab at front of cover. (Fig. 1-1) b) Remove two (2) 10mm bolts from battery cover. Disengage locking tabs and remove cover. (Fig. 1-2) c) Disconnect negative battery terminal. 4) Remove the following components: a) Remove driver side scuff plate. (Fig. 1-3) Fig. 1-1 Fig. 1-2 2 10mm bolts Scuff Plate Fig. 1-3 Page 2 of 14 Revision B 550-0305

b) Remove driver side kick plate by using 4mm screwdriver to pull center button of plastic fastener out to disengage. (Fig 1-4) c) Remove driver side door seal past top of A-pillar trim. (Fig. 1-5) d) Pull out top of A-pillar trim and pull towards rear of vehicle, to remove. (NOTE: Do not use excessive force. A-pillar connector could be damaged.) (Fig. 1-6) Fig. 1-4 e) Remove one (1) Phillips screw from air intake mount and remove air intake assembly. (Fig. 1-7) Top of A-Pillar Fig. 1-5 Out Then Back Fig. 1-6 Phillips Screw Fig. 1-7 Page 3 of 14 Revision B 550-0305

2 Removal of OE Rearview Mirror Remove OE rearview mirror from windshield. (NOTE: Do not use excessive force when removing OE mirror from windshield. The button may separate from the windshield or the windshield could break.) 1) Using 4mm screwdriver, disengage locking tab on bottom of OE mirror. (Fig. 2-1) 2) Gently lift mirror away from windshield button. Assist removal by wiggling mount from side to side while lifting upwards if necessary.. Fig. 2-1 Locking Tab 3 EC Mirror Installation Install EC mirror on windshield. 1) Holding the mirror assembly by the bracket tube and mirror head, slide the mirror bracket over the windshield button. 2) Using a #T20 Torx, tighten the screw in the mirror mounting bracket. Tighten to 1.3 ft-lbs (17.8 kg-cm). Fig. 4-1 4 Temperature Sensor Harness Installation Mount temperature sensor. 1) Route temperature sensor under top support of radiator support bracket. (Fig. 4-1) 2) Continue routing temperature sensor into front facia area of vehicle. (Fig. 4-2) 3) Fasten temperature sensor inside front of vehicle grillwork, at the lower driver-side corner. (Fig. 4-3) (NOTE: Be sure to push temperature sensor fully forward to ensure sensor mounting bracket has fully engaged the plastic of vehicle grillwork. To test, grasp probe and pull back. Probe should not easily pull away from plastic. Fig. 4-2 Fig. 4-3 Page 4 of 14 Revision B 550-0305

Fig. 9-5 10 Testing 1) Reconnect negative battery cable. 2) Turn the ignition switch ON. 3) With the vehicle in a fairly well-lit area, perform the following: a) To make sure the auto-dimming feature is on, verify that the green LED to the left of the center switch is on. If it is not on, push the switch to turn the green LED on. b) Cover the forward looking photocell on the back of mirror with a dark cloth or towel. (Fig. 10-1) In a fw seconds, the mirror will begin to darken. (NOTE: Time to darken will vary with ambient light level.) c) Remove the cover from the forward looking photo cell and the mirror will begin to clear. Fig. 9-6 4) Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. 5) Push each HomeLink button, one at a time, and verify that LED indicator to the left of the center switch illuminates with a red LED. Fig. 10-1 6) Testing is now complete. 11 Installation of Removed Components Replace components in reverse order they were Removed. 1) Make sure all tie wraps are tightened and excess is clipped. Page 12 of 14 Revision B 550-0305

2) Install A-pillar garnish. (Note: White connector pin on top of A-pillar must be fully extended for connection with A-pillar garnish.) 3) Install driver side kick plate. 4) Install driver side scuff plate. 5) Re-enter customer programmed radio stations. 6) Place User Guide and HomeLink Programming Instructions in vehicle Owner s Manual folder. 7) Wipe mirror and vehicle clean of fingerprints and dirt. 12 Compass Zone Adjustment Adjust compass zone after EC mirror installation. 1) The zone setting is factory preset to Zone 8. Refer to Compass Calibration Zone Map (Fig. 12-1) to find correct compass zone setting for your geographical location. Use same map from User Guide. 2) To change the zone setting, push and hold right button until a number appears in the display. Press button repeatedly until desired compass Zone number is reached. Fig. 12-1 13 Compass Calibration 1) Drive to an open, level area, away from large metallic objects or structures. 2) Hold the right button for approximately 9 seconds until CAL text appears in the display. Release the right button to enter the calibration mode. 3) Drive slowly in a circle until the CAL text disappears in the display (about two or three circles). The compass is now calibrated. Page 13 of 14 Revision B 550-0305

14 Temperature Operation The temperature sensor is located in front of the radiator. Due to its location, the sensor can be affected by road or engine heat during idling or slow driving. Adaptation to ambient temperature takes place in steps through time filtering and depends on the prevailing driving conditions and amount of temperature change. Because of the filtering, the display will take approximately 3 minutes to update to ambient temperature if the current temperature is higher than the previous time the vehicle was turned on. *WARNING The outside temperature indicator is not designed to serve as an ice warning device and is therefore unsuitable for that purpose. Indicated temperatures just above freezing point do not guarantee that the road surface is free of ice. Page 14 of 14 Revision B 550-0305
