Safety The following safety hazards may result in serious injury or death to the user of the Viper: This product contains small parts that are for adult assembly only. Keep small children away when assembling. Remove and dispose of all protective material and poly bags before assembly. Be sure to remove all packaging materials and parts from underneath the car body. Riding the vehicle without a helmet. Riders must always wear a fitted helmet that complies with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Standard CFR 118. Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds (acids) chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer, reproductive harm, and are toxic and corrosive. Never open the battery. Body parts such as hands, legs, hair and clothing can get caught in moving parts. Never place a body part near a moving part or wear loose clothing while using the vehicle. Always wear shoes when using the vehicle. Using the vehicle near streets, motor vehicles, drop-offs such as: steps, water (swimming pools) or other bodies of water, sloped surfaces, hills, wet areas, flammable vapors, in alleys, at night or in the dark could result in an unexpected accident. Always use the vehicle in a safe, secure environment with continuous adult supervision. Using the vehicle in unsafe conditions such as snow, rain, loose dirt, mud, sand or fine gravel may result in unexpected action such as tip over and skidding. Using the vehicle in an unsafe manner. Examples include but are not limited to: a. Pulling the vehicle with another vehicle or similar device b. Allowing more than one rider c. Pushing the user from the back d. Traveling at an unsafe speed Always use common sense and safe practices when using the vehicle. This product contains or emits chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. Battery Warnings WARNING! The following safety hazards may result in serious injury or death to the user of the Viper: Use of a battery or charger other than the supplied KidTrax Toys 16V rechargeable battery and charger may cause a fire or explosion. Only use the supplied Kid TraxToys 16V rechargeable battery and charger with the vehicle. Using the KidTrax Toys 16V rechargeable battery and charger for any other product may result in overheating, fire or explosion. Never use the Kid TraxToys 16V rechargeable battery and charger with another product. Explosive gases are created during charging. Charge the battery in a well ventilated area. Do not charge the battery near heat or flammable materials. Contact between the positive and negative terminals may result in fire or explosion. Avoid direct contact between the terminals. Picking up the battery by the wires or charger can cause damage to the battery and may result in a fire. Always pick up the battery by it s case or handles. 1

WARNING! Liquids on the battery may cause fire or electric shock. Always keep all liquids away from the battery and keep the battery dry. Contact or exposure to battery leakage (lead acid) may cause serious injury. If contact or exposure occurs immediately call your physician. If the chemical is on the skin or in the eyes, flush with cool water for 15 minutes. If the chemical was swallowed, immediately give the person water or milk. Do not give water or milk if the patient is vomiting or has a decreased level of alertness. Do not induce vomiting. The following safety hazards may result in serious injury or death to the user of the Viper: Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds (acid), chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, reproductive harm and are toxic and corrosive. Never open the battery. Tampering or modifying the electric circuit system may cause a shock, fire or explosion and permanently damage the system. Exposed wiring, circuitry in the charger may cause electric shock. Always keep the charger housing closed. User Requirements Age Range - 7 years (maximum) Weight Range No more than 10 lbs (59kg) Before using the Viper the child must understand the vehicle controls and safety issues. They must also demonstrate the capability to handle the vehicle and operate its controls. It is the responsibility of the adult to educate the child, determine if they are fit to operate the vehicle, and supervise the vehicle s use. The following safety warning should be read aloud to any child using the Viper: An adult must always supervise a child that is riding the Viper. Children under years of age should not be allowed to use the vehicle. Always sit in the seat when using the vehicle. Keep your hands, hair and clothes away from moving parts. Always wear shoes when riding the vehicle. Only two riders are allowed at a time. Don t drive the vehicle into loose dirt, mud, sand or fine gravel. Driving the vehicle into loose dirt, mud, sand, or fine gravel may damage the gear box inside the vehicle. Only drive on level ground. Don t go near water, drop-offs or up and down steep slopes. Do not drive the vehicle indoors or around obstructions. Do not drive the vehicle on streets or near cars. WARNING!

Parts Before you begin: check that you have all parts and hardware. Most parts will come with their hardware attached. Remove the hardware before the assembly step. Hardware Most hardware will come attached to the part. Remove the hardware just before the assembly step, and keep handy for installation. Screw for bumper attachment (4) Screws for rear assembly attachment (10) Screws for rear assembly bracket ( per bracket) Screws for seats Steering wheel hardware Hex wrench for wheel nuts Tip! Before you begin assembly, be sure you have all parts, hardware and tools needed to assemble your Viper. Tools required: Phillipshead screwdriver (preferably magnetic) or powerdrill Pliers Flathead screwdriver 4

Assembly Attach the Rear Wheels Tip! The gear box may shift during shipping. Be sure each motor is completely enclosed in the motor cavity before installing the rear wheels. 1. Insert the bushing into the rear wheel.. Fit the rear wheels firmly into each gear box located on the rear axle.. Align the tabs on the hubcap with the slots on the wheel and press firmly into place. 4. Slide the wheel insert onto the rear axle and into the wheel. 5. Slide the washer onto the axle. 6. Fasten a nut to the end of the rear axle. Using the hex wrench that comes with Viper, tighten the wrench onto the axle. 7. Snap the pronged end of the wheel cover into the hubcap. 8. Repeat steps steps 1-7 for the opposite rear wheel. 8 1 5 7 6 4 5

Assemble the Rear Section 1. Carefully place the top rear section upside down. 4 4 4 4. Place the bumper section over the rear section, making sure the tabs and pins from the rear top section insert into the slots on the bumper section.. The two black metal brackets on the bumper section should fit over the two screw bracket on the top rear section. 4. Insert the screws into the four screw hole locations and tighten the screws. Place the Rear Section Over the Viper Body Tip! It s easier to accomplish this step when the Viper doors are open. 1 1. Carefully turn the assembled Rear section right-side up.. Route the wires coming from the back of the charging port through the hole in the back of the Viper body, up in between the seat inset to the battery. 5 4. Attach the wire connectors coming from the charging port to the wire connector coming from the battery. Note: You will only need to make this connection one time. 4. Place the entire rear section over the back area of the Viper body, making sure the screw holes on the rear section align with the screw holes on the body. 1 5. Insert screws into the two screw locations on the top of the rear section assembly, and tighten the screws. continued on next page 6

Attach the Rear Assembly Bracket 1. Once the rear assembly is secured with the two screws, carefully turn the Viper on its side. Note: Place something such as cardboard or a drop cloth under the body to avoid scratching the body.. Make sure the tabs and pins from the rear top section are properly inserted into their slots.. Place a rear bracket over the holes located on the Viper body and the rear assembly. 4. Insert the screws into the screw hole locations on each bracket and tighten the screws. 4 4 4 4 Fasten the Rear Section to the Viper Body 5. Insert the remaining screws into the 6 screw locations, and tighten the screws. 6. Turn the Viper back to the standing position. 6 7

Install AA Batteries into the Dashboard 1. Remove the small screw under the radio in the dashboard assembly.. Pull the radio out. On the back of the radio assembly you will find the battery compartment cover. Remove the small screw on battery compartment cover. WARNING! DO NOT mix old and new batteries. DO NOT mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.. Insert three AA batteries as shown on the inside of the compartment. 4. Replace the battery compartment cover and place the radio assembly back into the radio compartment. 5. Insert the screw you removed in step one and tighten the screw. 1 Attach the Dashboard 6. Attach the wire connectors coming from the middle of the car body to the wire connectors coming from the bottom of the dashboard. Be sure the wires and wire connectors are tucked under the dashboard and not obstructing the dashboard installation. 7 6 7 7. Align the two tabs coming from the front of the dashboard with the slots on the front end of the car body. Slide the Dashboard forward until it is firmly in place. 8. Fasten the dashboard to the car body by inserting a screw into the screw hole on the sides of the dashboard though to the screw hole located on each door hinge. 9. Tighten the screws. 7 7 8

Insert the Steering Rod Tip! It s easiest to accomplish this step with the Viper tipped slightly to it s side. Have a second person hold the Viper body while inserting the steering rod. 1. Remove the screw and nut from the steering wheel, and keep it close by, you will need to hold the steering rod in place. 1. Insert the long end of the steering rod through the steering rod hole on the flat axle rod all the way through the hole on the underside of the Viper body.. The short, curved end of the steering rod should insert through the round rod on the front axle. 4 4. Insert the screw you set aside in step 1 through the end of the steering rod to hold it in place. 5. Carefully turn the Viper back to the standing position. Attach the Steering Wheel 6. Hold the steering rod, and remove the screw from the end of the steering rod. 7. While holding the steering rod, orient the steering wheel so the tab at the top of the steering wheel base aligns with the slot in the steering wheel opening. 6 7 10 8. Align the holes at the end of the steering rod with the holes in the steering wheel. 8 9. Insert the screw through the holes. 10. Fasten the nut on the end of the screw and tighten. 9 9

Attach the Mirrors 1. Snap the end of the mirrors down into the mirror holes on the Viper body. Attach the Seats. Insert the tab at the front of the seat into the slot on the seat inset.. Align the screw hole on the back of the seat with the screw hole in the back of the Viper body. 4. Insert a screw into the back screw hole, and tighten the screw. 5. Repeat steps -4 for the remaining seat. 4 1 5 1 Attach the Rollbars 6. Snap the ends of the rollbars into the slots on the top of the rear assembly. 6 6 10

Charge the Battery The first charge will take about 10-1 hours. 1. Flip the battery charger port cap down (located on the right, rear side of the car).. Insert the battery charger connector into the charger port.. Plug the charger into a standard 10V wall outlet. Note: The charger may feel warm during charging. This is normal and not a cause for concern. 4. After charging is complete (at least eight hours, but not more than twenty four hours, with the first charge taking about 10-1 hours) unplug the charger from the wall outlet and unplug the battery connector from the charger port. 1 11

Using the Viper Important! Before using the Viper for the first time the battery needs to be charged for at least 10 to 1 hours. Only an adult who has read and understands the safety warnings (see Assembly) should handle, charge or recharge of the battery. Read the Assembly and Maintenance sections before use of the vehicle. Operating the Viper 1. Light button: Turns the headlights on. 1 4 5 6 7. Steering wheel: Use to steer the car right or left. Hold onto the steering wheel at all times.. Start button: Turns the vehicle on and off. 4. Left Dial: Press left dial to hear car horn. 5. Battery Power Indicator: Lights when battery is low. 6. Mute Button: Press to turn the KidTrax Power Sounds TM off. 7. Right dial: Turns on FM radio and controls volume. Red LED will light up. 8. Rear View Mirrors: for viewing behind the Viper. 8 9 10 11 9. Tune Buttons: Tune +: Seeks radio stations up. Tune -: Seeks radio stations down. 10. Foot Pedal: Applies power (speed) to the vehicle. To slow down or stop, lift your foot off the pedal. Pressing down on gas pedal also makes front L.E.D. running lights turn on. 1 11. Shift Handle: Changes the direction the vehicle moves from forward to reverse. You may remove the small screw at the base of the shift handle for higher speeds. 1. Charge Port: Lift cover to access the charge port. 1

Re-Charge Interval and Time Important! Damage to the battery may occur if it is allowed to drain completely. Do not allow the battery to drain completely. Check the battery and charger (supply cord, connector) for wear and damage before charging. Do not charge the battery if damage has occurred. Only replace with a Kid Trax Toys 16V rechargeable battery and charger. The battery should be charged after each use, or if not used regularly, once a month at a minimum. Charge the battery between 8 and 10 hours. Do not charge the battery for more than 4 hours. Failure to charge the battery as directed would cause permanent damage to the battery and void the warranty. Battery Storage Do not leave the battery connected in the vehicle for long period of times while not being used. This may drain the battery completely and cause permanent damage. Disconnect the battery connectors from the battery when the vehicle is not going to be used for a long period of time. It is best to leave the battery in the battery compartment when the vehicle is being stored for long periods. Follow these guidelines if the battery is removed: Store the battery where temperatures are between -10 F (-4 C and 75 F (4 C) Store the battery on a wood surface. Do not place the battery on cement floors for extended periods. This will result in battery discharge. Wipe the battery clean with a dry cloth prior to storage. Charge the battery once every month for eight to sixteen hours. Battery Replacement and Disposal The KidTrax Toys 16 volt battery will eventually lose the ability to hold a charge. Depending on the amount of use, and varying conditions, the battery should operate for one to three years. Follow these steps to replace and dispose the battery: 1. Remove the screws on the back of the seats and lift the seats out.. Disconnect the battery connectors.. Remove the two screws on the sides of the battery. 4. Carefully lift the battery out of the battery compartment. Depending on the condition of the battery (i.e.: leakage) you may want to wear protective gloves before removal. Do not lift the battery by its connectors or cables. 1 1 1

5. Place the dead battery in a plastic bag. Important! Recycle the dead battery responsibly. The battery contains lead acid (electrolyte) and must be disposed of properly and legally It is illegal in most areas to incinerate lead acid batteries or dispose of them in landfills. Take it to a federal or state-approved lead acid battery recycler, such as a Kid Trax Toys authorized service center or your local automotive battery retailer. Do not throw the battery away with your regular household trash! 6. Replace the battery with a KidTrax Toys 16 volt battery and reconnect the connectors. 7. Fasten with the two battery screws you removed in step. 8. Place the seat back and fasten with the screw you removed in step 1. Maintenance The Viper should be checked for damage, missing or badly worn parts before use. Check the tightness of the fasteners before each use. Check the tightness of the wheels. Ensure the battery is securely in place before use Occasionally use lightweight oil to lubricate moving parts such as wheels and steering linkage. Do not use oil on plastic or nylon parts. No lubrication is required. Store the vehicle indoors or cover it with a tarp to protect it from the wet weather. Keep it away from sources of heat, such as stoves and heaters. Clean the vehicle with a soft, dry cloth. To restore shine to plastic parts, use a non-wax furniture polish. Do not use car wax, abrasive cleaners or wash the vehicle with soap and water. Water will damage the motor, electrical system and battery. KidTrax Toys recommends that you take the vehicle to an authorized service center for periodic maintenance and service. Troubleshooting Guide The following are examples of potential problems. Completely read through this manual and the troubleshooting guide table before calling Kid Trax Toys Consumer Relations. If you still need help resolving the problem please call 877-741-6154. Kid Trax Toys recommends that you take the vehicle to an authorized service center for periodic maintenance and service.
