Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:- Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 1. Vehicle Disassembly (a) Remove the negative battery cable. (Fig. 1-1) (1) For vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, place shifter in the N (neutral) position and set the parking brake prior to disconnection the battery. (2) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable. Nylon Panel Removal Tool (b) Remove the driver and passenger side door scuff. Screw Fig. 1-8 Phillips Screwdriver Screw (h) Remove two screws securing the lower steering column cover behind the steering wheel. (Fig. 1-8) (1) Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to ON to unlock the steering wheel. (2) Turn the steering wheel left and right to gain access to the screws. (3) Remove the key. Cigarette Lighter Connector Harness Clip (l) Carefully lift up the center console panel and disconnect the cigarette lighter connector and the harness clip. Set console panel aside. (Fig. 1-12) Fig. 1-12 Nylon Panel Removal Tool Center Cluster Panel (m) Remove the center cluster panel. (Fig. 1-13) (1) Disconnect the connector behind the center cluster panel. Fig. 1-13 10 mm Socket, Phillips Screwdriver Nuts (n) Remove the head unit. (For DIO) (1) Use 10 mm socket to remove nuts and Phillips screw driver to remove screws. (Fig. 1-14) (2) Remove connectors at rear and remove head unit. Fig. 1-14 Screws 2. Install Driver Side Door Sill Fig. 2-1 Pliers 30 pin connector Wire side view Pin #21 Orange (a) Locate and disconnect the 30 pin connector on the junction block (behind fuse box cover). (Fig. 2-1) (b) Install a T-Tap to the orange wire (pin # 21) on the 30 pin connector, about 1 inch from the connector end. (Fig. 2-1) (1) Using pliers, make sure that T-Tap is snapped in correctly. Pliers (c) Locate and remove the blue 22 pin connector located at the driver side cowl area. (Fig. 2-2) Fig. 2-2 Blue 22 pin connector Pin #1 Orange Wire Side View (d) Install a T-Tap to the orange wire (pin #1) on the 22 pin connector, about 1 inch from the connector end. (Fig. 2-2) (1) Using pliers, make sure that T-Tap is snapped in correctly. Weather Stripping (e) Lift up the driver side door weather stripping. (Fig. 2-3) Fig. 2-3 (f) Locate the crescent shaped depression on the pinch weld. Clean the pinch weld surface and apply a thin piece of foam tape over the depression. (Fig. 2-4) (g) Installation Temperature Depression (1) The Door Sill Protector and Sill surface temperature must be between 60 F and 90 F at time of actual installation. Fig. 2-4 (2) If necessary, a blow drier can be used to heat the part and surface to correct installation temperature. (h) Clean the Door Sill Surface (1) Clean the rocker panel surface with a mild, water based, solvent free all purpose cleaner and a clean, non-scratch cloth. Page 6 of 17 pages (2) Surface must be free from all contaminants (plastic protectants, oily - substances, dirt, etc.)

Tape Liner (i) Locate the driver side illuminated door sill. Remove tape liner from back of lighted side sill. (Fig. 2-5) (j) Install lighted side sill to vehicle. Fig. 2-5 Fig. 2-6 Locator Pin Alignment Hole (1) The word SCION should be right side up reading from the outside of the vehicle. (2) Be sure locating pin aligns correctly with vehicle alignment holes. Gently place the sill on the rocker surface and press the sill piece toward the pinch weld to relieve any slack. (3) Once the sill is in the proper position, apply firm pressure to the sill, working from the center outward, making sure the perimeter of the sill is adhered to the rocker surface. (Fig. 2-6) Locator Pin (k) Run the power wire from lighted side sill over the thin foam tape attached to the pinch weld. Wire tie (m) Secure the power wire from the lighted side sill to vehicle harness using a wire tie. Secure the illuminated sill wire to vehicle harness with three wire ties in the areas shown. (Fig. 2-10) (o) Place a protective blanket on top of the side sill. Sill Connector Plug 3. Install Driver Side Power Harness Power Harness (a) Connect power harness to the driver s side sill harness. (Fig. 3-1) Fig. 3-1 (1) Wrap connected connectors with thick foam tape. Fig. 3-2 Page 8 of 17 pages (b) Secure the sill harness to the OE harness as shown with two wire ties. (Fig. 3-2) (1) Do not wire tie to any air bag harnesses.

Fuse Holder Wire Wire Tie Fig. 3-3 (c) Route the power harness to the vehicle harness behind the connector block as shown. (Fig. 3-3) (1) Secure both sides of the fuse with two wire ties. (2) Route the wire from the fuse holder in front of the connectors and secure with one wire tie. Fig. 3-4 Blue 22 pin connector Driver side cowl area (d) Attach the fuse holder connector to the T-Tap on orange wire and reinstall the blue 22 pin connector. (Fig. 3-4) (1) Make sure that the quick disconnect is installed properly to T-Tap. Fuse box Wire ties (e) Route the long ground wire coming out of the connector up and behind the junction block. Secure the wire with two wire ties to the OE harness. (Fig. 3-5) Fig. 3-5 Behind junction block view Fig. 3-6 (f) Continue to route the ground wire to the front of the junction block. Attach it to the T-Tap on the orange wire and reconnect the 30 pin connector. (Fig. 3-6) (1) Make sure that the quick disconnect is installed properly to T-Tap. Page 9 of 17 pages

Connectors (a) Attach crossover male connector to Power harness female connector and wrap with the thick foam tape. (Fig. 4-2) Fig. 4-2 Wire ties NOTE: For vehicles with the factory security system installed, the wiring will follow the same path to the passenger side. (d) Route the Crossover harness toward the center console area. (Fig. 4-4) Fig. 4-4 Crossover Harness Foam Pad Brace (1) Route the Crossover harness through the opening space in front of the driver side brace as shown. (2) Install thick foam tape to brace to protect the harness. (e) Secure the crossover harness to vehicle harness with three wire ties in the driver side center console area. (Fig. 4-5) Fig. 4-5 Harness (f) Route the crossover harness toward the glove box area, then secure it to the vehicle harness with three wire ties in the passenger side center console area. Crossover Harness Crossover Harness (h) Route the Crossover harness through the glove box area, then secure it to the vehicle harness with three wire ties. (Fig. 4-8) Fig. 4-8 (i) Continue to route the crossover harness down to the passenger side connector block. Secure the harness with two wire ties. (Fig. 4-10) (1) For vehicles with the factory alarm, the connector will be located on a Y-adapter harness near the connector block. (k) Install a T-Tap to the blue wire (pin #18) on the 20 pin connector, about 1 inch from the connector end. (Fig. 4-10) (1) Using pliers, make sure that T-Tap is snapped in correctly. (l) Connect the black wire from the cross over harness to the T-Tap installed on the blue wire and reconnect the connector. Page 12 of 17 pages

Weather Stripping 5. Install Passenger Side Door Sill (a) Lift up the passenger side door weather stripping. (Fig. 5-1) Fig. 5-1 (b) Locate the crescent shaped depression on the pinch weld. Clean the pinch weld surface and apply a thin piece of foam tape over the depression. Secure the illuminated sill wire to vehicle harness with three wire ties in the areas shown. (Fig. 5-7)

(k) Place a protective blanket on top of the side sill. (l) Connect crossover harness to sill harness. (1) Wrap connector with the thick foam tape and secure the harness with three wire ties as shown. (Fig. 5-8) Fig. 5-8 6. Testing (a) Plug in the DCC fuse located in the engine compartment if necessary. (b) Temporarily reconnect the vehicle s negative battery cable. (c) The light should be on with the door open. (d) Press door ground switch to test the lighted door sill. The light should turn off when pushed in. (e) Disconnect the battery. 7. Vehicle Reassembly (a) Reinstall the glove box. (b) Reinstall the head unit. (For DIO) (1) Reconnect head unit connectors and antenna wire. (c) Reinstall the center cluster panel. (1) Reconnect the heater control connector. (d) Reinstall the console panel. (1) Reconnect the cigarette lighter connector and wire harness clip. (e) Reinstall the lower steering wheel cover. (f) Reinstall the fuse box cover. (g) Reinstall the driver and passenger side cowl cover and door scuffs. (h) Reinstall the glove box under panel. (i) Reconnect the vehicle s negative battery cable. (1) Position the negative battery cable at the original factory position. (Fig. 7-1) (2) Tighten the nut with 4.1 N-m (36 lbf-in) of torque. Fig. 7-1 (3) Do not touch the positive battery terminal with any tool when replacing the cable. (j) Initialize the passenger side window controls. (1) Refer to the factory repair manual for proper procedures. (k) Initialize the sunroof. (1) Refer to the factory repair manual for proper procedures. 8. Completing the Installation (a) Perform vehicle accessory function checks. (b) If required, remove the DCC fuse located in the engine compartment. (c) Using an approved cleaner, clean any smudges, fingerprints, or dirt off of the front door sill surfaces. (d) Clean up and remove any trash. Page 16 of 17 pages

Door sill light should turn on. Door sill light should turn off. Vehicle Function Checks Interior lights. Power door locks. Power windows. Sunroof. Audio system. Turn signals and stop lamp. Hazard lights. Combination meter lights. Tire pressure monitoring system. HVAC Factory security system (if installed) Interior lighting system should function properly. Power door locks should function properly. Power windows should function properly. Sunroof should be functioning properly. Audio system should function properly. The turn signals and stop lamp should function properly. Hazard lights should be functioning properly. The combination meter lights should function properly. Check for the tire pressure light to come on and turn off. HVAC should function properly. Security system should work properly. Page 17 of 17 pages
