At one with your crane with HiPro Product features

Become at one with your crane Ever seen a really skilled crane driver? You know the kind. One who seemingly oblivious of the fragile and expensive load in his hands places it exactly where it s supposed to go right on target in no time. One who flings the load right up there faster than you would even dare try. It looks neat, don t you think? Look closer. We think you ll find these drivers have something in common. They seem to be at one with the crane and it s not just skill. It s the cranes. They are precise. They are fast. They are smooth. They are Hiab HiPro. 3

991 19 History 1991. We put in huge efforts to find and optimize the heart of the crane, the hydraulic valve. To give you the precision you needed to get the job done. Decades of fine-tuning precision We kicked off the nineties by going on a mission to offer unparalleled precision. We put in huge efforts to find and optimize the heart of the crane, the hydraulic valve. The valve we chose turned out to offer the best precision on the market and decades of fine-tuning have made sure it still is. We remember 1991 as a year when most people didn t even have a cell phone, let alone a computer, when Microsoft released MS DOS 5.0 and Tim Berners-Lee presented us with the World Wide Web. But to us, this was also a year when we raised the bar in the world of loader cranes when we gave precision to those in need. 4

HiPro Evolution 95 2001 1995. Through hard work we managed to unite seemingly contradictive requirements. This was when speed and safety were first married. 2001. A complete crane was born when the Hiab HiPro first saw the day of light. When speed and safety were married Many of you are sure to remember when we introduced electronics in our cranes in the mid-nineties. We might have hit a few bumps, but it didn t stop us. And when the Machinery Directive arrived in 1995 we grasped it by the horns. We knew what you needed and what was required speed and safety. So we found a way to offer both. This was when speed and safety were first married. All this paved the way for a new type of crane. Whilst the electronics worked in the background, what you actually experienced was a crane that was easy to use and had gained an extra capacity boost whenever needed without you having to press a single button. The crane had become automatic. Great inventions endure for ages 2001. The year HiPro was born. A crane that was complete, in every respect. The features had been there for some time already. Customers who needed it all speed, precision, exceptional safety, remote control and user-friendliness decided to go for the HiPro. As it turned out not only did they appreciate HiPro for its speed and precision but also because it was a sheer pleasure to operate. OK, so Hiab HiPro s been around for a while. Does that mean it is outdated? Does it mean that the technology is old? Of course not! Great inventions endure for ages. They re continuously upgraded, but they stick around. We are proud that we went ahead and did what we believed was right. Would it be presumptuous to call ourselves pioneers? 5

Future Living in the future A new decade and HiPro is about to take its next leap. When we first designed HiPro we aimed for the stars. The response from our customers was tremendous. Now we are taking the next step and offering a new version of HiPro designed for our midrange cranes. We call it HiPro XSD and it comes with our well-known XSDrive remote control a lightweight controller, available with shoulder hook, slide belt and harness depending on what you are most comfortable with. Some live in the present, we prefer to live in the future. And this is only the beginning. 6

Variable pump - a sound choice for environment and wallet Environment is important. Low operational costs too. A variable pump saves fuel and makes your crane last longer. Let s say you operate a midsized crane two hours per day. With a fixed pump you ll use up 2,400 litres diesel/year. With a variable pump about 600 litres less. The more you use the crane per day, the more you save. And also, it prolongs time between oil changes and gives lower service cost, as the system is kinder to gaskets and seals. HiPro hallmarks Really fast or really precise or both. Most cranes are used as multitasking tools doing precision work one minute and fast routine work the next. Few of them are designed for it but Hiab HiPro is. Precision what does it mean A Hiab HiPro gives you total controll of the crane giving unmatched precision even at full outreach. You ll need a valve that responds exactly the same to lever movements at all times. Believe us, we went to great lengths to get there, but get there we did. To stand there with the remote in your hand knowing you are in full control, now that s precision that will bring you customers. Speed how fast is fast Delivering building materials, piping, handling road blocks typical examples where speed is an issue. Not only because the customer often pays by the hour but also because speedy deliveries will give you time to take on yet another customer. Effective and smart. How fast is fast? And when is speed sufficient? Sometimes speed means doing several things at the same time. For instance, if you re a skilled driver you ll use several functions simultaneously. Traditionally this meant a risk that one function would suddenly come to a halt. But not with our HiPro cranes. Really, the only thing that happens is that all movements slow down slightly. But you ll still be able to operate all functions. You won t even notice the HiPro system is there until you drive another crane were it isn t Capacity how good can it get Great capacity, what does it mean? We say it depends. For instance, do you need a crane with the capacity to lift your maximum load five percent of its working day? In this case, we d say no. It would just mean carrying around more weight than you need to 95 percent of the time and not being able to take the payload you would have been able to with a lighter crane the rest of the time. What you want is actually a lighter crane that is able to boost capacity in those few situations when it is really needed. This is when a Hiab HiPro comes in handy. We won t go into details, but let s just say that what makes this possible is our intelligent system. And because everything is fully automatic, you ll hardly realize that you can suddenly lift more. Our intelligent HiPro system makes this possible. Smoothness whenever it s needed Imagine a customer asking you to place something fragile and expensive in a confined space with awkward access. The last thing you need as you inch your way into position with your crane is a big surprise like an unexpected jerk or a sudden change in pace. The Hiab HiPro is at its best in situations like this. We shift between jobs a lot. One minute we need all the precision we can get and the next we need to be fast. Our HiPro crane is up for both. Not only are solar cells really fragile, they are also really expensive. When we put them into place we need to be accurate down to the centimetre. Our Hiab HiPro crane gives us the precision we need. Anxiety to handle such precious load is replaced with pure joy! Christian Drexler, Albwerk GmbH & Co, Geislingen, Hiab XS 166 ES-5 HiPro Our customers certainly appreciate our speedy Hiab HiPro crane partly because it is cheaper for them the faster we are, but also because fast deliveries mean we don t occupy valuable space on their premises as much. And for us, a speedy crane means that we can take on more customers. Reiner Dreher, Garten-Moser, Reutlingen, Hiab XS 422 E-6 HiPro As fast as you like The Hiab HiPro will help you reach your full potential as a crane operator. You see, once we made sure the hydraulics could pump around sufficient oil for each function in use, and the electronics could handle the safety and control aspects, the system allows you to operate as many functions you want at the same time. 9
