Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follo w approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guideli nes can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as: Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Dis assembly/reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembl y/reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 10mm Wrench Negative Battery Cable 1. Vehicle Disassembly. (a) For vehicles equipped with automatic transmission, place the shifter in low gear and set the parking brake prior to disconnecting the battery. (Fig. 1 1) (1) Protect the fender before starting. (2) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable. (c) Remove the driver side footrest, and the driver side step cover. (Fig. 1 2) (1) Cover the floor and seats before starting. (d) Remove the driver side cowl cover. (Fig. 1 2) (1) Remove the nut securing the cowl cover. FOR M/T VEHICLE MODELS ONLY. (Steps e g) (e) Remove the small cover from the lower dash cover s right side. (Fig. 1 3) (f) Remove the hood release lever. (Fig. 1 3) (g) Remove the lower dash cover. (Steps h j) (h) Remove the small cover from the lower dash cover s right side. (Fig. 1 4) (i) Remove the hood release lever. (Fig. 1 4) (j) Remove the lower dash cover. (Fig. 1 4) (1) Open the screw cover of the lower dash cover. (2) Remove the two bolts securing the cover. (k) Remove the metal substructure. (Fig. 1 5) (1) Remove the three bolts securing the metal substructure. (2) Be careful to not get cut by the sharp metal edges. (l) Remove the two screws securing the lower steering column cover behind the steering wheel. (Fig. 1 6) (1) Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to ON to unlock the steering wheel. Fig. 1 6 Steering Column Cover (2) Turn the steering wheel left and right to gain access to the screws. (m) Remove the lower steering column cover. Nylon Panel Removal Tool Masking Tape Center Cluster Panel (n) Attach the masking tape around the center cluster panel. (Fig. 1 8) (o) Using the Nylon Panel Removal Tool, remove the center cluster panel. (Fig. 1 8) (1) Loosen the four clips when removing the panel. Fig. 1 8 Nylon Panel Removal Tool, 10mm Socket Audio Unit (2) Disconnect all connectors from the panel. (p) Remove the audio unit. (Fig. 1 9) (1) Remove the four bolts securing the audio unit. (2) Disconnect all connectors from the audio unit. (q) Remove the passenger side step cover. (Fig. 1 10) Fig. 1 9 Bolts (x4) (1) Cover the floor and seats before starting. Installation. (From Center Cluster Area to Driver Side Cowl Area) (a) Locate and disconnect the white 8P connector from the ignition switch in the steering column area. (Fig. 2 1) (b) Plug in the V5 harness white 8P connectors between the ignition switch and the vehicle harness white 8P connector, then secure the white 8P connectors to the vehicle harness with one large wire tie. Secure the V5 harness to the vehicle harness with two medium wire ties. (Fig. 2 2) Side Cutter Tool Large Wire Tie Ignition Switch 8P (White) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (c) Locate and disconnect the black 13P connector, and two white 18P connectors from the driver side J/B. Plug in the V5 harness white 18P connectors between the driver s side J/B and the vehicle harness white 18P connector. (e) Plug in the V5 harness other white 18P connectors between the driver s side J/B and the vehicle harness white 18P connector. (Fig. 2 4) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. Fig. 2 5 Large Wire Ties (x2) Medium Wire Ties (x2) (f) Secure the black 13P connectors and two white 18P connectors to the vehicle harness with three large wire ties, and secure the V5 harness to the vehicle harness with two medium wire ties in front of the driver side J/B. (Fig. 2 5) 10P (White) Wire Terminal Fig. 2 6 (White) Vehicle s 10P (White) Tape 2P (White) (1) Align the V5 harness branch point to the end of the corrugated tube of the vehicle harness. (g) Route the V5 harness white wire terminal, white 2P connector and white 10P connectors behind the brace down toward the driver side cowl area as shown. (Fig. 2 6) Vehicle s 12P (White) (h) Locate the vehicle s white 12P connector in the driver side cowl area, and remove the electrical tape from the vehicle s white 12P connector, then disconnect it for clearance. (Fig. 2 7) Fig. 2 7 (i) Locate the hole in the driver side cowl area, then pull out the vehicle harness white 10P connector and disconnect it. (Fig. 2 7) Page 6 of 22 pages

(Fig. 2 8) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (k) Reconnect the vehicle harness white 12P connector and secure it to the vehicle harness using electrical tape. (Fig. 2 8) (l) Locate and disconnect the combination connector from the connector block in the driver side cowl area. (Fig. 2 9) (m) Using a small jeweler s screwdriver, release and pull out the white 8P connector from the combination connector. (Fig. 2 10) Fig. 2 10 Jeweler s Screwdriver 8P (White) Jeweler s Screwdriver, ECU Pin Removal Tool Combination Connector 8P (White) WIRE SIDE VIEW (1) Turn the connectors so the pins face you. (n) Using a small jeweler s screwdriver, lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the 8P connector. Locate the WHITE wire in the 8P connector, seventh space from the left. Using the ECU pin remover tool, release and pull out the terminal for the WHITE wire. (Fig. 2 11) (1) Do not pull out the retainer. Retainer WIRE SIDE VIEW 8P (White) (o) Insert the terminal at the end of the V5 harness WHITE wire into the seventh space from the left of the 8P connector, then close the retainer. Refit the white 8P connector to the combination connector. (2) Verify the correct opening is chosen. (3) Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. The terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If the terminal comes off, then push it in again. (p) Disconnect the empty 2P female connector plugged into the V5 harness. Using a small jeweler s screwdriver, lift up the terminal retainer on the back of the empty 2P connector. (Fig. 2 13) (1) Do not pull out the retainer. (q) Insert the terminal at the end of the vehicle harness WHITE wire into the right side opening of the empty 2P connector as shown, then close the retainer. (Fig. 2 14) (1) Turn the connector so the wires face you and the tab is on top. (2) Verify the correct opening is chosen. (3) Verify the terminal is inserted and seated properly. The terminal should not come out when pulled lightly from the back. If the terminal comes off, then push it in again. Page 8 of 22 pages

(Fig. 2 15) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (s) Wrap the white 10P connectors in one small foam tape strip. (Fig. 2 15) (t) Secure the white 10P connectors to the vehicle harness using one medium wire tie. (Fig. 2 16) (u) Bundle the excess V5 harness, then using one medium wire tie, secure the 2P connectors and V5 harness as shown. (Fig. 2 16) 3. Installation. (From Center Cluster Area to Passenger Side Cowl Area) FOR M/T VEHICLE MODELS ONLY. (Step a) (a) Attach two small foam tape strips to the vehicle s brace as shown. Grabber Tool (c) Route the V5 harness toward the center cluster area using the grabber tool. (Fig. 3 3) Fig. 3 3 Brake Shaft Grabber Tool (1) Insert the grabber tool from the center cluster area and push it toward the driver side upper brake shaft area. (2) Catch the V5 harness 10P connectors using the grabber tool, then pull it back toward the center cluster area. Side Cutter Tool (d) Secure the V5 harness relay to the vehicle brace with one large wire tie. (Fig. 3 4) Large Wire Tie (e) Route the V5 harness toward the passenger side glove box area. Bundle the excess portion of the vehicle harness, then secure the V5 harness and vehicle harness with one medium wire tie. (Fig. 3 7) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (h) Route and secure the V5 harness to the vehicle harness and reinforcement fixation with one medium wire tie and one large wire tie. (Fig. 3 8) (i) Locate the vehicle harness white 4P female connector and remove the tape securing the 4P connector. Secure the V5 harness and white 4P connectors to the vehicle harness with three medium wire ties. (Fig. 3 10) 4P (White) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (Fig. 3 11) (l) Locate and disconnect the grey 11P connector to the connector block of the passenger side cowl area. (Fig. 3 13) (n) Locate the hole in the passenger side cowl area, then pull out the vehicle harness inner white 10P connector and disconnect it. (Fig. 3 14) (1) Verify the connectors are plugged in securely. (2) Do not touch the adhesive surface of the warning labels. (3) Line up the labels properly and place them on the glass once; do not use a label that was pulled off the glass. Arm and disarm the system with the remote again, then wait 30 seconds. Press and release the remote control s unlock button again to stop the arming process. Insert the key into the driver s door key cylinder and turn it toward the front of the vehicle to start the arming process. Wait 30 seconds. 1. The turn signal lights flash once. All doors lock. The Status Monitor s LED lights up. 2. After 30 seconds, the LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 3. The turn signal lights flash twice. The driver s door unlocks. The LED stops flashing. With the door open, press the lock switch on the door to lock the doors, then close the door to start the system s arming process. Wait 30 seconds. Reach inside and manually unlock the front passenger s door to trigger an alarm. 9. The driver s door lock attempts to lock repeatedly. The horn continues to sound repeatedly. The headlights, turn signal lights continue flashing. The LED remains on. The interior lights remain on. 10. The horn stops sounding. All the lights stop flashing and/or turn off. The LED turns off. The starter cranks and the engine starts. 11. All doors lock. The LED lights up. 12. After 30 seconds, the LED starts flashing; the system is now armed. 13. The front passenger s door relocks. Perform the following check in a temperature controlled environment (50 0 90 0 F.) With the tip of key (or striker tool pulled all the way out (PPO only)), tap the center of the driver s door window to trigger the warn away alarm. 16. Refer to step number 13. 17.
