Fuel Savings A Gas Vehicle @ 25 mpg = 10,000 Miles / Year 400 gallons of gas @ $2.75 / gal = $1,100 / yr An Electric Vehicle @ 4 Miles / KWh = 2,500 KWhs ConEd highest rate @ $.25/kwh = $ 625 / yr 43% savings + Additional 5% -10% Savings with Westchester Power or Community Solar + GHG reductions
Vehicle Emissions
Health Impacts
Maintenance Savings NO Oil, Transmission Fluids Gas Cars ~2,000 moving parts Transmission, driveshaft, clutch, valves, differentials, pistons, gears, crankshafts Electric Vehicles ~20 moving parts 8 Year, 100,000 miles battery warranty
Energy Efficiency Electric Vehicles are 5x More Efficient than gas vehicles Gas cars lose ~80% of their energy as heat.
Steadily Decreasing Prices EV prices are dropping by ~18% per year By 2023, EVs will be cheaper to buy & 10x cheaper to maintain
Exponential Growth It took the world 20+ years to reach the 1 st Million EVs The 2nd Million: 18 months The 3 rd Million: 8 months

Municipal Fleet Cost Savings Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE). EV suitability assessment for public fleets in disadvantaged communities across California. 80% of the 85 vehicles tracked could be replaced with EVs 90% of sedans and 50% of pick-up trucks If each fleet replaced all the recommended vehicles with the best-fit EV, the fleets would save an average of nearly 25% of estimated total cost of ownership over the life of the vehicles..
Municipalities Leading January 13, 2017 Four US cities are looking into making a massive order of electric cars. Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland, Ore., sent in a request for information (RFI) to automakers for what could become the biggest electric car order ever: 24,000 vehicles. The goal: to show the purchasing power of local governments in the EV market. The cities said they are aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, improve air quality, and reduce fuel and maintenance costs by an average 37 percent.
Municipalities Leading March 17, 2017 30 cities join to explore $10 billion electric-car purchase While federal policies to reduce vehicular emissions of carbon dioxide are now back in the limelight, it's a different story on the state and local level. A group of 30 U.S. cities is discussing a major purchase of electric cars for their municipal fleets. The cities have jointly asked automakers for cost and feasibility estimates of 114,000 Electric Vehicles.
New York City NYC is one step closer to reaching its goal of creating the largest electric municipal fleet in the country. The city has reached an agreement to acquire purchased 1,000 all-electric Chevy Bolts by the end of 2017. The new electric vehicles will assist the city in reaching its objective of cutting municipal vehicle emissions in half by 2025 as part of its Clean Fleet Initiative.
