Even closer to the point of application With the proven FLENDER gear unit series you already have a wide choice: 25 sizes, seven design types, and a limitless range of variants. This series was the first to offer a degressive size gradation. As a result it became possible to offer customers precisely tailored and favorably priced solutions. With FLENDER SIG this standard is being perfected: the concept behind the new gear unit series provides for even more harmonized torque grading, thus guaranteeing a homogeneous torque curve right across the board. So with torques of up to 125,000 Nm (the torque range is being gradually extended) you are even closer to the torque you want. The resulting cost and logistic benefits for you are obvious. Even more torque FLENDER gear units are already world-leading, but FLENDER SIG goes a stage further and generates up to 15% more torque. The series thus offers even more power for the same gear size the result of years of development work and the latest engineering. So in future it may be possible to offer many of our customers (for example, for pump and compressor applications) precisely the right size of gear unit to suit their requirements and thereby meet torque requirements very precisely with positive effects for availability, handling, and ultimately the required investment. The construction and teeth geometry makes this possible. Thanks to a balanced overall design and innovative teeth layout the result is extremely compact gear units offering maximum efficiency. You also profit from extended standards in add-on parts and from additional installation space. Numerous standardised options, such as motor bell housings, backstops, and taconite seals, increase availability and minimise delivery times. Additional cooling solutions for FLENDER SIG are optional standards. Your gear unit will always be kept at an optimum temperature by means of fans or water cooling, a combination of both variants, or a separate cooling system, as required. Reliable as ever FLENDER SIG offers you optimum system availability. Life cycle costs have also been further reduced by increasing rolling bearing life. Furthermore, the gear unit concept provides for an optimised use of rolling bearings. The increase in thermal capacity reduces the gear units additional cooling requirements as much as possible. Optional taconite seals offer optimum protection against leakage from shaft sealing rings in dusty environments. Improved thermal capacity For many users the gear unit s temperature pattern plays a decisive role. Here not only is an excellent performance required, it must also not be limited by the maximum temperature of the oil. Users need compact and highperformance gear unit solutions which are very close to the point of application and at the same time are able to optimally dissipate heat. The FLENDER SIG series achieves this with its consistent improvement of the mechanical and design characteristics. FLENDER SIG offers not only an excellent efficiency level of 97% but also a markedly improved thermal capacity. The extension of the monoblock housings to up to 125,000 Nm (size 13/14) with improved thermal performace and optimised noise characteristics played a decisive part here. 7
New from 2012 on: i = 1.12 + FLENDER SIG H1 and B2 The extension of the range to include single-stage and two-stage bevel-helical gear units (H1 and B2) completes the range of types in the FLENDER SIG series by providing further transmission stages downwards. These performance-oriented gear units, with their extremely low rated transmission ratios from i = 1.12 up, achieve small speed differentials and are extremely finely graded. Furthermore, the number of sizes in comparison with the FLENDER gear unit series was doubled especially for H1. Pumps and compressors The new single-stage helical gear unit FLENDER SIG H1. The new FLENDER SIG H1 single-stage helical gear units are designed specially for the many pump and compressor applications which require as precise a transmission ratio as possible from their drive solution. Siemens offers such solutions in the H1 gear unit of the standard range without making a special product series from it. The intermediate sizes bring you even closer to the torque you want. H1 and B2 are part of the modular FLENDER SIG kit. This contributes to an even better delivery performance. Heat control The biggest challenge for industrial gear units lies in their thermal capacity. For you as a user the temperature control of the gear unit is especially important. Maximum efficiencies and very good heat dissipation are essential requirements in a thermally optimised gear unit. FLENDER SIG precisely fulfills these requirements at an extremely high level. 8
